2021 Trip Planning!
ytterbiumanalyst replied to AmyUD06's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You'll love St. Louis then. Looks like you'll have a bit there on Saturday night maybe? If so, 4 Hands and Urban Chestnut are great breweries in St. Louis, and both are open late Saturdays. You won't make it on Sunday if you stay at Six Flags until close. Melvin's open late every day, just do that one on Sunday. -

Ah, ok, yeah nobody this year has a normal schedule. Waldameer is worth backtracking for if you have to. Didn't realize you were ao close to Knoebels; I forget how close those eastern states are to each other. Out here, Adventureland, Frontier City, and Magic Springs are all in the next state over, and they're all 5-6 hours away. I get using the Six Flags pass while you have it. Are you going to be in the city at all? If so, check out the Hill (I-44 exit #286 Hampton Road). Great Italian, and unique since St. Louis uses a special cheese called Provel, which is similar to Provalone but a little tangier. If you're going to stay out in Eureka, get Lion's Choice. It's a local roast beef chain (think if Arby's made things that were good), and it's just down 5th St. (that's the I-44 access road, turn left out of Six Flags' parking lot). Not sure if you drink, but if you do, then Melvin is a great little brewpub with awesome food a little farther down 5th. -

Hmm, interesting. Seconded on the museum though, that was absolutely great, as was the show with all of Dolly's family performing. It wouldn't be the same, but an SDC Tennessee wouldn't be bad either. Dolly's smart; if she does get out, she'll have a damn good reason for doing so. -

Besides the obvious folly of planning so many trips to so many parks when absolutely no one is going to have a normal schedule this year, there are several other things that don't make sense to me. 1. Why Kings Island on three separate trips? It's a great park, sure, but if you want three days there, why not just go there for three days? 2. You're combining Georgia and Missouri on one trip? You seem to be going in several different directions on this trip, and you're still including places you already will have been to. And if you're coming to Missouri, why are you going to Six Flags and then leaving? Silver Dollar City is the only park in Missouri actually worth driving halfway across the country for. 3. You're visiting some kind of out of the way places (What even is Adventure Park USA???) but no Silver Dollar City, no Holiday World, no Knoebels, even when you're super close, or in the case of Holiday World, you'll literally drive right past it on I-64 between St. Louis and Louisville. This seems to be a quantity over quality trip. 4. I don't get why you're driving out to Cedar Point then backtracking to Erie. Why not go to Erie first on Friday then on to Sandusky after Waldameer closes? Easy to do, I've done just that a couple years ago. Waldameer is a really great park that you should spend some time in and get to know. Comet and Ravine Flyer are awesome of course, but their drop tower has an incredible view of Lake Erie and they run great programs on their Disko and Musik Express. The mini railway is fun. It's just a classic feel that is great and relaxing. Whatever you do, do not miss the Whacky Shack or the Pirates Cove. They're weird and awesome. -
The last new Coaster in your Count

Great little coaster, isn't it? Plus, since the place isn't too busy, you can ride it quite a lot. -

Last one for me is still Switchback Railway at ZDT's in 2019. -
As many of you many have gathered from my trip reports, I am a huge baseball fan. Being from Missouri, with plenty of family in St. Louis, the Cardinals have always been my team. My home ballpark is Hammons Field, home of the AA Springfield Cardinals, and it's a beautiful small park with not a bad seat in the house and some damn good ballpark food. If y'all come down here, try the Philly cheesesteak or the Springfield-style cashew chicken. Both are fantastic and go well with local brews from Mother's. The DH is anathema, and real pitchers hit, but if I have to go for an AL team, it would be the Minnesota Twins. May sound weird to some, since Missouri does have an AL team in the Kansas City Royals, but it comes from just being in awe of Torii Hunter back in the day and stuck with them. Been to a few ballparks on my travels, so far: The Ballpark in Arlington Busch Stadium II Busch Stadium III Citizens Bank Park Comisky Field Fenway Park Great American Ballpark Kauffman Stadium Miller Park PNC Park Wrigley Field

Keep in mind that DreamMore also gives out the 8-ride TimeSaver as a perk for their guests. -
We saw Working tonight livestreamed from the Theatre and Dance Department at Missouri State University. The kids did a great job! Still super missing live theatre, so I'm glad our local university found a way to give the kids some show experience and bring the arts to the Ozarks safely. I don't have any photos or screenshots or anything, just a little shout out to some hard working (pun intended) college students, and a reminder that if you got some arts going on where you are, keep supporting them!

Wow, you completely misunderstood. This isn't at all about park rules, it's about what YOU said. You're boasting about not wearing a mask, and speaking positively about a low mask usage rate in this park. You are thereby tacitly encouraging others to do the same, when we have a 27.5% vaccination rate nationally, and in a state ranked #43 in vaccines administered,[1] and in which only 23.6% of the state's adults have been vaccinated.[2] And sure, we can stay away from the park, but viruses don't stay in a park, and the people who don't wear masks in a park also don't wear them in riskier locations. When the virus is transmitted and then mutates in its new host, and that mutation shows up in my local grocery store, and I get sick despite wearing a mask and despite having a vaccine, that's very often because people like YOU said on the Internet how nice it is to see people refusing to do even the bare minimum effort possible to protect their neighbours against the worst infectious disease we've seen since HIV. Do you understand now why we might object to your glowing review of this park's guests not wearing masks? No, you don't care, or you'd never have written what you did before, but like I said earlier, I'm writing this for others. Keep on masking until we get to herd immunity! That's a fair point (Personally I just avoid Facebook altogether, never saw any value in that site). I'm just not willing to concede the airwaves to loud idiots who encourage self-destructive behaviour. -

I disagree, I think there still very much is a point to rebutting idiocy. It's not to convince the idiot, we all know that'll never happen. You're really talking to a third party who is reading and not speaking, who knows the science and needs encouragement to keep going.
