  1. Thanks! I'd like to thank the Academy of Cryptic Covert Coaster Analysis, as well as all fans of palindrome acronyms. Oh, no, the coaster is definitely opening in 2016.
  2. Very busy. It's Spring Break for almost all area schools and colleges, plus SDC's opening is kind of the unofficial start of the Branson tourist season in general. Prepare for it to be packed, and budget for Trailblazer Pass. Don't buy until you get there, though, as ride wait times can be minimal even on days when SDC is busy. You really never know until you get there how it's going to be, since it's just such an unusual theme park. If your dates are flexible, I'd encourage you to wait until the weekend of April 8-9. You'll get to see the new Festival of Wonder, and ride lines have always been very short for WorldFest, which this replaces, due to the focus on shows and other entertainment.
  3. X-Coaster, Magic Springs
  4. ^ Thanks for overexplaining that, just in case anyone didn't understand.
  5. Oh no, I got it. I'm just also making fun of you.
  6. Yes, definitely. And there are more clues. - The recycle bins are green, so we know that the track will be painted green. - The recycle sign is in the shape of a triangle, so the track also will be triangular. - The recycle bins are upside down, and there are two of them, so New Mean Streak will have 2 inversions. - The lids are off the recycle bins. Lids means hats, so you won't be allowed to wear hats on the ride. - The recycle sign has arrows. Kennywood has an arrow. What's at Kennywood? Sky Rocket. There are two recycle bins. Sky Rocket II confirmed for CP.
  7. Cinnamon bread has been at SDC for years. It is, however, always something to look forward to. SDC's new attraction this year is an expanded food offering, so I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of tweets of food this year.
  8. Glad you're coming down! The two parks are quite different; the only coaster they both have is Batman, and ours is a mirror image of the one in Chicago, so it even feels a bit different. I haven't been on Justice League in Chicago, but I would expect it's identical and therefore skippable. I would also recommend skipping Boomerang and Ninja. They're just not good, and your time is better spent on other rides. I wouldn't expect huge crowds that weekend. The waterpark is a big draw, so attendance is low until it opens. If crowds are larger than usual, get a Flash Pass; otherwise, don't worry. I tell people to start with American Thunder and work your way around clockwise. That puts some of the lower capacity rides like American Thunder and Pandemonium early in your day. As for flats, if you like spinning or flipping rides, don't miss Excalibur. It's a nearly unique flat. Sky Screamer is really good too. Don't worry if Superman is down; Great America's drop tower is better (and ours is down a lot). Have fun!
  9. Makes me wonder when/if SDC will do something similar to Fire In the hole? FITH was refurbed in 2007. Trackwork, new animatronics, the whole thing. Glad to see Blazing Fury got the same treatment. Oh, and for those asking for a Disney-quality dark ride, you're looking at one. Fire in the Hole and Blazing Fury were developed in conjunction with the Disney imagineers. In the 1970s, this is exactly what Disney rides looked like.
  10. Cool! 1. What is the farthest distance you've traveled to specifically visit a theme park? About 2,000 miles to Los Angeles for West Coast Bash last year. 2. Your favorite coaster in the state you live in? Outlaw Run 3. Would you rather wait in line for a boomerang (at any park) or a VR coaster @ a Six Flags? If you had to choose, if you had to choose... VR has my vote. 4. Have u ever been the only person in a train during a coaster ride? Yes 5. What is your favorite thing to do at your home park that does not involve riding something? Tough question. You can totally go to SDC, ride nothing, and have an awesome time. I'm going to say the light displays during Old Time Christmas. But there are literally a dozen other answers I could easily have picked. 6. Better time for ERT: Early morning or late night? Early morning, when I'm not tired from riding all day. 7. Name some theme park food that *sounds* gross, yet is oh-so-delicious? Fried Zucchini. It's sold at a stand across from the Giant Barn Swing. 8. Name your top three "bucketlist" coasters you have yet to ride. Nemesis Phoenix Taron 9. Have you ever been E-Vac'd? Did you receive anything if you did? Yes, on Superman at Six Flags Great America and on Grizzly Rapids at Disney California Adventure. Both times I received an exit pass. 10. What is the longest length of time you've waited for a coaster? An hour and a half for Outlaw Run opening weekend. 11. Worst flat ride ever. Name it. Tea cups. 12. Your favorite SWEET treat at a park that is NOT your home park. Boysenberry anything at Knott's Berry Farm 13. Congratulations! After aggressively gambling on the Plinko game you finally won a front of the line pass. Which ride do you use it on? Taron 14. If you could have a lifetime fast pass to ONE attraction what would it be? If we're being realistic, Outlaw Run, since I'd use it the most, but if we're talking hypothetically where distance is irrelevant, probably Maverick. 15. Have you ever been next to someone that puked on a coaster? No 16. Your home park is getting a new B&M and YOU get to pick what type. Do you want an invert/hyper/dive/floorless/flyer/wing/standup? All of the above is not an option. Wing. After seeing what HW did with Thunderbird, it would be awesome in SDC's woods. 17. Name your favorite Vekoma. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Disneyland 18. What water ride delivers the most unacceptable amount of wetness? There is no such thing. The wetter the better. 19. If you were able to help design a coaster would you want it to focus on airtime or inversions/positive G's? Airtime. 20. Most comfortable trains/seats for a coaster are... Monster,Adventureland 21. Choose one: Unlimited front-of-the-line access to your favorite coaster at your home park for one season OR $1,000 cash? $1,000 caah, absolutely. I can buy their season Trailblazer pass and still come out ahead. 22. You just got drowned by a flume/rapids/chute-the-chutes. Do you pay the $$ for the dryer machine or do you continue on with your day trudging around like soggy dog? Soggy dog FTW! 23. What is the worst food you've had at your home park? The last year they sold poutine it was awful. I don't know what happened, as it had been great in previous years. 24. You're at Cedar Point. You have a one hour ERT session on ONE coaster of your choice. You choose... Millennium Force 25. Favorite (non-clone) dark ride? Non-clone is the difficulty here, as a lot of my favourites are at Disney and Universal. I'll say Calico at Knott's. 26. What was your favorite park you visited in 2016? Disneyland 27. What's your current credit count? Don't be shy. 174 28. Winner winner chicken dinner! You just won a trip with hotel and airfare included. The catch is its only good for Six Flags America or Mt Olympus. Which do you choose? Six Flags America, absolutely. I'd be near DC and the beach, whereas with Mt. Olympus...well, I'd be in Wisconsin.... 29. What is the best Intamin coaster you have ridden? Millennium Force 30. Your home park has to remove one coaster and one flat for an expansion. Which two rides would you be OK with losing? Oh that's evil...all of SDC's coasters are great. Grand Expo Coaster I guess, since they could always add another kids coaster, and that's the only one that sucks. Oh and tea cups can die. 31. Song/music you've heard playing at a park that absolutely has not business being played in a theme park? Mm Bop. That has no business ever being played again. And I'm sorry it's now in your head, but as consolation, it's in mine too. 32. There's 5 minutes before the park closes. You choose to: Reride your favorite coaster in the park, OR get the new kiddie/junior coaster credit? Reride favourite coaster. Every time. 33. Do you visit the waterpark if it's connected to the amusement park? Yes 34. What 2017 addition are you most looking forward to? New food options at SDC! That's more exciting than any ride. But if this answer has to be a ride, then Hydrus. 35. What was the most disappointing addition to your home park in the past 10 years? None have been disappointing in that time frame. Really. Even Half Dollar Holler in 2011, the smallest addition of the last decade, restored attractions displaced by Tom and Huck's River Blast, and it looks even better than the Tom Sawyer's Landing versions did. Last time I was disappointed by an SDC attraction was BuzzSaw Falls in 1999. It tried to be both flume and coaster, and ended up being neither. I only ever rode it once, and on getting off, thought, "I'd rather just ride American Plunge and then Thunderation." And that's exactly what I did. 36. The most overrated coaster ever is... Raging Bull 37. What ride makes you wanna vomit? Tea cups 38. What is the best consolation prize you've won at a games booth? I always go in expecting to win the consolation prize, and I've taught the kids to do the same. If we don't want the consolation prize, we don't play. 39. And the worst? See above. 40. End this questionnaire by posting a picture of your favorite light package (coaster/flat). Santa Monica Pier's Ferris wheel has an awesome one.
  11. You know what also allows people to see the real world, including the person next to them? Eyes.
  12. I'm also in the planning stages of a trip that includes New Jersey, and this is what I've been using: http://www.state.nj.us/turnpike/toll-cars-2012.html https://turnpikeinfo.com/toll-calculator.php?road_name=garden-state-parkway&state=new-jersey
  13. The one that immediately comes to mind is the re-used portion of BuzzSaw Falls in Powder Keg, complete with one of the trains being embedded in the roof of the queue building.
  14. Millennium Force could go from its first drop directly back into the station and I would love it. The sense of speed is incredible from start to finish. It's an utterly ridiculous ride and my personal favourite steel coaster.
  15. No. Are you going to throw away your shot?
  16. Dollywood Peter or Paul?
  17. Exactly what I was hoping for!
  18. For Your Right
  19. Man, I would visit the s**t out of a park that had the balls to actually have that verbatim in their policies. If I ever hit the powerball and open up a theme park I can assure you that we'll have the greatest FAQ page of any theme park on the planet. Kickstarter was made for dreams like these.
  20. This gem. Nailed it. I would hate for my life to have so little meaning that getting banned from TPR for saying stupid crap on purpose gives me fulfillment in life. I don't honestly believe that that was ever their intention. In most cases they probably never wanted to get banned but when they were banned for being stupid they decided that rather than own up to the fact that maybe they said something stupid or did something wrong they would go seek out an online support group that would tell them they were wonderful, "salute" them and tell them that it's not their fault (and subsequently make it TPR's fault). It's easier to blame someone else and go seeking approval / validation than it is to admit you f*cked up and either apologize or just acknowledge it move on.

You have captured the very essence of what is wrong with the world.
  22. I was 16 when MF opened, and it was unreasonably hyped. For you youngins, back in the 90s, the idea of a coaster 300 feet tall was unimaginable. Cedar Point blasted ads all over the place. We heard about it all the way out here. I tried to get my dad to plan a family vacation to Sandusky that summer. He wasn't really thrilled with the idea of standing in super long lines, so we went to Florida instead, which was admittedly a good vacation spot. But I always had Cedar Point on my bucket list, and specifically Millennium Force. It took 16 more years, but I finally got to ride this masterpiece last summer. MF is an absolutely amazing coaster, and I have a hard time deciding if it or Outlaw Run is my favourite. It's one of those two certainly. MF just has that classic feel of a boardwalk coaster, but scaled up immensely. That drop goes on forever, it races through all the elements, and it hits the brakes feeling like it could go another mile. It is perfection itself.
