  1. Brie, as I find it generally milder than camembert, and since they both tend to have some funky tastes, the mildness evens that out. The differences are subtle, and apparently not even the Europeans have a standard for them: https://www.thecourtyarddairy.co.uk/blog/cheese-musings-and-tips/brie-vs-camembert-is-there-really-any-difference/ Of course, the U.S. doesn't standardize anything like that. Hence why every single olive oil is extra virgin. All of them. Including Wal-mart's house brand. No matter what pressing of the olives the oil actually came from. We have literally no rules for what can be called extra virgin.
  2. Nope, wrong answer. (We take BBQ seriously in Missouri) Tough choice, but Brie. Guggenheim or MOMA?
  3. 10/10 Haven't been myself, but my brother has, and his photos and stories make me want to go there myself. Homer
  4. We went out to Cafe Cusco, a Peruvian restaurant in downtown Springfield, and one of the best places to eat in the Ozarks. Ceviche tacos They also serve Mother's and White River, two local Springfield breweries (the latter is just right down the street). Here's a good article about the place: https://www.springfieldmo.org/articles/VIIbHiUAADYBU37G/from-peru-to-you/
  5. Icelandic/Texan blues band Kaleo, "Way Down We Go"
  6. Yep, and still paying for it! Woohoo! Murkah! If you look at yourself in the mirror twice, is it a review?
  7. Well, some people who are alive in 2017 won't be in 2018.
  8. Art? Music? Science? History? NYC has world class places for all of those! You can't possibly run out of things to do in New York.
  9. 8/10 Knott's Berry Farm
  10. Absolutely! Talking about Pink's is way better than speculating about a coaster that isn't opening until 2016.
  11. If you get separate flash passes, you'll need to make separate reservations. The passes will each need to be scanned by an employee, but at that point you just join the regular line (for most rides), so no problem riding together. For the ones where you enter at the exit, just ask the person scanning your flash passes, and they should generally let you ride together. You're paying for the service after all. If they say no, they say no, but in my experience they will allow it if possible.
  12. I actually really liked the trick track. I found that if you throw your body in the direction the track is twisting--not just lean, but throw your body that way--it was not painful at all and instead was really fun.
  13. Yeah, I went that way because my hotel was near the Grand station. I did at least plan to miss every single connection, and I'm glad I did, because that's exactly what happened!
  14. I assure you, it is completely 100% true. I got on the Red Line subway at Grand station at 4:30. We stopped just before Howard and sat on the tracks for an hour due to a traffic jam created by an electrical problem on the loop track there. Then once I finally got to the platform, I had to wait about 20 minutes for the CTA cops to remove homeless people who were sleeping on the train. I took the purple up to Evanston to switch at Main St. However, due to these delays, by the time I got there, the next northbound train that was stopping at Main St. was 45 minutes later. Well, turns out there were problems at Ogilvie and the Metra UPN was 20 minutes late even beyond that. I finally made it on the 9:05 Pace bus which dropped me off at that Burger King to give me just enough time to cross the street and get there by 10.
  15. That is so awesome that people are upset about migratory birds. Reminds me of the good old days around 2015 in which people argued about things that aren't existential threats to the entire planet. Good times.
  16. Have any of you who have been on Steel Force also been on Mamba or Wild Thing? I've ridden both of those, so I'm curious how it compares.
  17. Okay, that date means nothing to me. I re-read the posts from that day (pages 2958-2960), and I don't see anything that I would consider noteworthy, or even interesting. What are you referring to by referencing that date?
  18. Sumo (had to look that up...)
  19. And here is where I see a major problem. There is no need to declare a winner or loser every time there is an argument. Nobody every lets an argument just die and that carries on beyond this thread and site. That's a good point. Since the argument was over what I meant, by saying he won, I just meant that he understood what I was saying (and said it a lot better too). I honestly have no idea how it ever became an argument, but it was clearly all a misunderstanding stemming from poor word choice on my part. So I'm sorry.
  20. Exactly. Why get a new train for a coaster when you can get an entirely new coaster? Those Larson Super Loops are great coasters, and people will love this.
  21. That's a bit fatalistic at 14. You'll be all right. Just focus on being yourself and being the best person you can be.
  22. ^ Cool, thanks! I like the idea of having wait times posted. I don't think I've actually seen that at a waterpark. Such a simple thing to do with so much benefit to guest satisfaction.
  23. Wow, there's been a sh*tstorm since I checked in this morning. Basically, I just meant that I was surprised to see my ranking so high since when trip planning, I really only care about going to a place that's fun. I haven't been to too many theme parks, so there are a ton of great choices that are also new to me. This year I'm going to Dollywood and Knoebels! I'm also going back to Holiday World, and all they're getting is a Calypso. I'm not going because of the Calypso; I'm going because that place is awesome and I've wanted to go back ever since I left. This should never in any way have been a debate, but Boldikus won with this: So you don't even want to go to new parks and ride new coasters?.. Really? You say you go to the "best parks" -- but how would you know they're the best if you haven't been anywhere else? I can guarantee there's plenty of parks (even in the US still) that are amazing that you're skipping over. To be honest, your philosophy of theme park visiting is condescending and "seems dumb to me." FYI your entire post comes off as condescending. And the idea that there is a "philosophy of theme park visiting" that you actually follow is hilariously obnoxious. I think what he's getting at is that he decides which parks to visit based on if it looks cool/if the rides & coasters appeal to him the most, not which parks have credits he needs. I completely 100% agree with him. Hitting parks just to get credits sounds dumb to me. I want to go to parks that look good and have rides that appeal to me. For instance I skipped hitting Coney again last year and instead went to parks like Hershey, GreatAdv, Moreys etc, parks I've visited before. Why? Because I love those parks and enjoy them. I could have gone to Coney and got new credits but again postponed a visit because deciding to visit a park is not based on if I need credits there but on where I feel I want to go. There is more to visiting parks than getting new credits.
