  1. But seriously, thanks for all the discussion on the bridge closure, that was something I did not know about. It's only 5 months away, and I doubt if there are major deficiencies that it could be fixed that fast, so this will probably be something to plan around.
  2. No, Highland Fling was built in 1977. It received Gondolas from Wagon Wheel after its removal and the gondolas where added to Fling in 2015. Well, Highland Fling is 40 years old this year and parts are getting rarer. Also recently more and more Schwarzkopf Enterprises seem to be bowing to the hands of time. I don't think Fling is going anywhere this year, but there is a pattern set by the other Enterprises that have gone before it. You seem to be arguing the obvious point that the ride will eventually be removed. And while rides don't necessarily ever have to go away--parts can always be machined--there always comes a time when it would cost more to maintain than it's worth. But that day is not today, and it's not for a while yet. Those parts from Fiesta Texas will keep it going for some time, and they will keep it going to recoup their investment in it. It's not free to transport ride parts from Texas to Missouri.
  3. Holy price increase Batman! That's about $95 more than their current all season fast pass!
  4. ^ I would, but I'm getting the vibe that enjoying Wildwood and being able to drive afterward are mutually exclusive.
  5. Cool, I was hoping that Sunday would be the best day to try to get through Philly. And according to Google Maps, it's only 230 miles, which is roughly the same distance from my house to St. Louis, and I drive that several times a year. I always find it comical what you Easterners think is a significant distance. Come out west of the Mississippi sometime, it'll blow your mind. Aa for Kennywood, early versions of this trip had Kennywood and Waldameer, as well as Coney Island. But there's only so much time, and I want to actually spend enough time at each place to really appreciate it. So it got cut down to just the Philly area. I'll get to New York later, and that's a trip by itself. I'll try to get to Kennywood and Waldameer on a future Cedar Point trip.
  6. Bumping my own thread.... So after taking a lot of advice from you very helpful people, I've worked out an itinerary, and I figured I'd run it by y'all to see if there are any glaring holes in my schedule. 1. Thu - Fly to PHL, arriving about 11:30. Rent a car, drive to Six Flags, get there in time for a couple hours of riding. 2. Fri - Six Flags Great Adventure, all day. Safari, El Toro, Kingda Ka, Skull Mountain. Woohoo! 3. Sat - New Jersey Shore. Seaside, Ocean City, get to Morey's hopefully late afternoon. Enjoy pizza, beer, crappy rides, awesome rides. Full Jersey Shore experience. 4. Sun - Get up early. Valley Forge, Gettysburg, get to Hersheypark by 7 for the Preview Plan. Ride the hell out of Skyrush, Storm Runner, and Fahrenheit, get rides on Triple Tower as the crowd thins out. Camp at Hershey. 5. Mon - Hersheypark all day. Early entry, ride Comet and Sooperdooperlooper, then Skyrush until other people arrive. Run to Laff Track, ride stuff back to front, have an awesome day. Camp at Hershey 6. Tue - Drive to Knoebels, spend all day at the happiest place on earth. Ride the hell out of Phoenix, Twister, and Flying Turns. Camp at Knoebels. 7. Wed - Rinse. Repeat. 8. Thu - I know nobody cares, but I'll drive to Dorney for the waterpark day of the trip. Ride the hell out of Demon Drop and the log flume, leave afternoon. Drive to Philly, see Phillies and Mets at Citizens Bank Park. 9. Fri - Philadelphia Museum of Art, all day baby! 10. Sat - Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Alexander Hamilton's bank, Ben Franklin stuff, Mutter Museum, etc. Tourist crap you gotta see. 11. Sun - Fly home.
  7. Nope, you pretty much got it right. Pink's and Famous Dave's are great. Melt looks amazing, too. I will definitely try that myself next time I'm there.
  8. A month in the Middle East sounds amazing. Best business trip ever!
  9. Highland Fling had a big refurb a couple of years ago and since then has been decently reliable. Rumours of its demise are greatly exaggerated. Tidal Wave, however, is likely to be removed in the next few years. It does cost a lot to run, has low capacity, and isn't as popular as the other three water rides.
  10. ^ Yeah, I don't know who these people are who are complaining about extra innings. I've never seen an extra inning game that wasn't really exciting. And where are the people complaining about the fact that the last 2 minutes of every NFL game lasts half an hour?
  11. Aged rum, neat: 10/10 All non-aged rums and rum cocktails: 5/10, there's nothing you can make with it that isn't better with gin. Bicycles
  12. I really enjoyed seeing the Moana group. I have become quite a fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda in the last year. I basically watched the awards just to see him.
  13. ^ I love Gotye. I'm used to the music I enjoy being outside the mainstream, so I was really impressed when he actually had a hit in 2012.
  14. Outlaw Run is much better now than it was the first year, when they had some kinks to work out and reliability was poor. Well, they've figured it out, and it's very reliable now. As of last December, Outlaw Run was still kicking ass and taking names, although I'd be glad to verify that's still true when it reopens in a couple of weeks.
  15. I very much enjoy legitimate and respectful discussion and debate of political issues. Many of the most important issues are political. However, because people are stupid, usually they cannot tell the difference between debating and merely being argumentative, and so most of the time I just avoid the subject entirely. If you had the chance to be 300 feet tall, would you take it?
  16. I'd gladly take Outlaw Run over Maverick and/or El Toro any day. Saying that New Mean Streak has the possibility of becoming the best roller coaster in the world isn't a huge stretch. RMC builds mind blowing coasters. Cedar Point builds amazing, record breaking coasters. But the hehe would companies together and your bound to have an amazing coaster. Also, I'm not the first person that has mentioned that NMS might become the best new ride in the world. I would also rate Outlaw Run above Maverick, but I think I rate the latter a little lower than most. I'll say the potential exists for this coaster to be great. But best at Cedar Point is a tough goal, let alone best in the world.
  17. It's not a huge maintenance issue. It's down a bit, sure, but rumours of its demise are greatly exaggerated.
  18. Yes, Holiwood Nights! Have you ever made twice baked potatoes?
  19. For the Preview Plan, is it limited to one area, or do they just let you in to the park and you can have at it until close?
  20. Yes! Outlaw Run as much as possible! Have you ever made homemade sushi?
  21. Quite honestly, if TTD were in a lot of other parks I've been to, I would rate it highest. It's just overshadowed by a lot of other fantastic coasters. I place it 5th, behind Millennium Force, Magnum, Maverick, and Raptor--and 5th at CP is nothing to be ashamed of.
