  1. Sunday, July 11, 2010 David Trust - Valley Hills' spokesperson Welcome back! Upon entering the park this year you may notice banners for Patriot and Blackwater Falls. The rides celebrate their 25th and 15th anniversaries respectively this season. Patriot in full swing, performing its famous inverting maneuvers high above the midway. Patriot originally opened in 1985 under the colors and name of Sun Spin. It wasn't until this season that Sun Spin underwent the transformation into Patriot to match the adjacent Parachute Tower. Here, the ride is pictured on its opening day back in 1985. If you’re feeling a bit queasy after a ride on Patriot, stop in at the GreenBrier Grill and enjoy a refreshing Pepsi. Or come in and take a seat at the last year's new Kanawha Square and enjoy some fresh-cut cheese fries. White Lightning offers something different this year. White Lightning now bears new trains with closer 8 across seating. This new train design reduces the car width by 8 feet, and drastically improves the maintenance by having a more efficient design. The newer trains from Bolliger & Mabillard enable the ride to be more enjoyable for guests on the outer seats. This was most apparent during the in-line roll. We here at Valley Hills always ensure that guest satisfaction is top priority. Fun Fact: The newer trains are more aerodynamic carrying up to 3% more speed throughout the course. Adjacent to White Lightning, Cardinal spins riders up to 148' at 122°. Cardinal still retains the record as the world’s largest Frisbee Ride. Last season over 672,000 people took flight on Cardinal. Wild Waters now offers an even wilder experience this season with the all new "Sheriff vs. The Outlaw" themed section. Prepare to embark on four minute excursion with gunslingers and plenty of wet surprises. Sunday is a great day to come and take advantage of the short lines on Ignition. What makes Sunday even better is the Sunday Funday ticket, where you can bring 1 friend for FREE! Unfortunately, Towering Inferno will not be in operation until further notice. The ride suffered from some severe lightning damage last Thursday followed by unsatisfactory test runs. Valley Hills will resolve these problems as quickly as possible, we thank you for your patience. To compensate for the downtime of Towering Inferno the Allegheny Market will hold a special limited time offer. Guests who own an official Towering Inferno T-Shirt, will receive a 9% discount on a single order of food at the Allegheny Market. You must wear the shirt at the time of purchase to be eligible for the discount. The Allegheny Market also offers live entertainment and exclusive views of Kanawha Railway. Come check it out! Due to the newer trains on White Lightning the old splash-down element has since been removed. However, we here at Valley Hills would like YOUR input on what the old splashdown site could be utilized for in regards to the future of the ride. Take part in this public, limited time survey that also includes a general questionnaire about the park and its future. (Survey is now closed) Until next time. David Trust - Valley Hills' spokesperson
  2. It's much like that of a Wing Coaster. The rotation of the trains, especially on Immelmann's are compensated by the slow speed. This causes brief zero-g's at the apex of the inversion, as the train rotates out of the element to reduce the amount of lateral gravitational forces. The same thing happens with GateKeeper's immelmann, it exits the element slower than other B&M models with Immelmann's to compensate for the lateral forces. Basically, the only problems the Hartline presents on these types of coasters in the roll rate. Note: People complain about Wing coasters being forceless/slow through the inversions, yet they don't know that if they were to have that "force" they'd have a broken neck. I rest my case.
  3. This is exactly how I felt. The coaster lacks in just about everything but speed. Still a great ride though.
  4. Both Stealth & Zaturn are longer than Freedom Flyer, so I really don't see an Intamin of that caliber or price range happening anytime soon. The park also seems to be going for the rumored
  5. I highly suggest you read the Games Forum Posting Rules! before posting on the Theme Park Review forums.
  6. Was not expecting two coasters for one season. I like the placement & colors of BackFire, you've managed to make a boomerang look interesting. Clever name too. Adventure Raceway brings some new life to its section of the park. It could benefit from having some props. The back of the park now has two new lively rides to draw guests. Sky Ride should see a significant ridership boost this season. Renegade River looks fun and thrilling, with a unique layout. It really stands out among the other coasters as far as ride experiences go. Nice choice. However, I think the ride could benefit tremendously by having a fully supported structure. Similar to what you did at the top of the 5-story splashdown. Overall, I enjoyed this update. Frontier Forest keeps getting better and better.
  7. Nice start so far. Building three new attractions in one season must be a sign of strong potential. The Australian setting is interesting.
  8. [quote name="thes man] You are right, it is a "custom" design. But it is quite similar in almost every way, to Insane Speed that opened one year prior at Janfusun Fancyworld. It's the same layout with a few tweaks, just like Nitro at Adlabs Imagica.
  9. ^^I've seen that coaster on YouTube. Gerstlauer needs to make more of these LSM coasters, because Lynet looks awesome. However, they need to fix whatever issue happened with Smiler first. I find Dragsters launch to be incredible. The acceleration is just beyond anything I've ever felt on a coaster.
  10. I agree 100%. Graying/Blacking out is in no way a "fun" experience on any ride. To me, it is a design flaw that makes the ride to extreme to be enjoyable. Nothing I would want to happen again. I305, to me, scores highest with it's continuous high-speed, curves, and smoothness. Those quick directional changes are comparable to Wicked Twister's, which has incredible rotational forces. The ride truly is crazy intense. I wish the park kept that original pond promoted in the concept videos. Maybe with a bit more vegetation too. The ride could really benefit with some surroundings, because I really didn't get much of a sensation of speed. (inb4rage)I really wish the ride had better airtime, because it was extremely disappointing. Especially considering that there were three hills designed just for airtime. The airtime on i305 is comparable to Gemini's, and that's being generous. Other than that, and few other minor things, the ride scores high in my book. I give it a 8. I personally think a GCI to replace Hurler (I don't think RMC could even fix this), or a Flying Coaster next to the front gate would be best for the park's next big coaster.
  11. I rode Intimidator 305 a few time back in April (8 or 9 times I believe), never once felt anything beyond slight floater. The backseat during the first drop is the best airtime this coaster has to offer. Which isn't saying much since the backseat on any coaster can do this. I was expecting more out of those three hills design specifically for airtime. It was a very fun experience, and still ranks pretty high on my list. It's just that the airtime could of been better given the design.
  12. This coaster has a rather bland layout, literally something out of RCT3. But it is quite photogenic. Any word if this will retain the on-board audio system?
  13. Seriously though, imagine a Invert with airtime. It would feel like your head is getting shoved up into the track above you. That would be freaky. Pyrenees has an airtime-like hill before the breaks. And so does Talon and Patriot immediately before the breaks. And Chinese Fireball has an actual camelback. Link I've never ridden one, but I assume there is some airtime during these parts of the pretzel loops on flying coasters. Can anyone verify this?
  14. At least they got some hangtime on that flat spin.
  15. Well, yeah. Rougarou is a floorless coaster by B&M. One more till things will really start to heat up.
  16. That kiddy coaster, Junior Serpent, is strategically placed next to serpent. Nice. I think next season will be more family rides to help bring families back into the park.
  17. GateKeeper has more airtime than I305 does (inb4 rage). The first drop provided some, but it was very lackluster the rest of the ride. I was expecting something out of those hills, all I got was Raging Bull syndrome. I personally find Maverick a much more enjoyable ride experience than I305. I305 was nothing but left-to-fight turns with some speed, I don't find it that interesting. Intense? Yes. But nothing spectacular beyond that. The hype, at least to me, is bizarre to say the least. To each their own.
  18. It makes more sense to use a higher capacity version since this is Cedar Point, with over 3 million guests per year.
  19. Yeah, I'm going with Premiere Rides as well. Whatever it will be, I don't know. However, clues point towards a water-based attraction. Possibly their water coaster since both Journey to Atlantis and Poseidon opened around this time.
  20. Either Iron Dragon or Corkscrew @ Cedar Point.
  21. Thank you. I hope I bring big enough things to the table. I didn't expect it to take so long to restart this park. I've reworked the 10 year plan extensively. This decade shall see even more drastic changes. Anyways, next update will be here soon. Thank you all for your continued support.
  22. The disko is confirmed for next year, 2016. The new coaster is for 2017.
