  1. Let's say this hypothetical 500-foot coaster utilizes a cable lift hill at 17 mph, and drops 500 feet . The speed would be 123 MPH (without friction or air-resistance) at the bottom, and if the hypothetical coaster pulls 4.0 Gs, the radius would need to be less than or equal to 231 feet. Which is approximate to the pullout radii on Kingda Ka. Yes, this could certainly work if a park has the funds, space, and desire to build such a coaster.
  2. G forces aren't the concern here. Money and space are.
  3. Hello, JonnyRCT3 here. I'm quite familiar with KIngs Island, however, I have never visited. I'm planning on making a trip to Mason Ohio this upcoming weekend to spend Saturday & Sunday at the park (Nov 1 & 2). And with that I have a few questions of course. Basically all I want to know is what types of crowds to expect. I'm assuming Saturday is going to be massive (However, it is after Halloween so it may be different), and Sunday is going to be dead. Also, is the 2-day fall admission for Saturday and Sunday good for anything beyond admission, like haunts and stuff? I'm not really interested in the "Halloween" stuff, I'm just there for the rides anyways. Any tips and advice for first time visitors would be greatly appreciated.
  4. However you look at it, both hearltlines are at least approximate to each other or this probably wouldn't be happening.
  5. Thursday, June 23, 2009 David Trust - park spokesperson It has been an entire month since the last update, and today we will get right back into things staring with a 25 year celebration! Buccaneer and Wild Waters celebrate their 25th year here at Valley Hills. Buccaneer, a family favorite for most groups, has entertained millions of guests over the years. Valley Hills specifically designed the rides around each other so they could interact evenly. Even with Buccaneer's monstrous capacity, it still manages a 10-15 minute wait on most days. View from atop Wild Waters. One of the lesser known attractions around the park, Dodge Em'. Most guests don't realize it when passing by due to it being secluded by trees. However, Dodge Em' really packs a punch with its intense "car crash" inducing thrills. Come check it out! Don't forget to get some rides in on the newly refurbished Rattle Snake roller coaster. Did I mention it now runs backwards!? ~David Trust
  6. Correct. (I fixed that hiccup, it is indeed 1984) Reward is in PM box A "flat" slab of concrete is in the works...take that for what it's worth.
  7. Atter is no longer a part of Theme Park Review.
  8. I apologize for the sudden & long hiatus. I've been rather busy with real life and haven't found the time to spend hours on RCT3. Fortunately, there will be an update sometime this week. As a token of my appreciation for the continued support, I will release these older images. First person to correctly guess the debut year, original name, and manufacturer (if it applies) of all the attractions pictured will receive an exclusive sneak peek of what's to come next year. ~JonnyRCT3
  9. maXair is the only ride I have every felt queasy afterwards.
  10. No. I think it will be a fairly decent coaster, with dynamic forces and lots of speed . Fury 325 is a well rounded coaster.
  11. The closest to "alone" was Magnum XL-200 on a rainy day. I remember it was only a little girl, her dad, and me. This was also the first time I rode magnum or any coaster above 200 feet. I "sneaked" away from my family (i was 12 at the time) at the waterpark, re-entered CP and rode it. The biggest thing I rode up to that point was Raptor, so I was in for a HUGE surprise considering I never rode an airtime machine up to that point.
  12. I thought I was the only one. That was a totally unexpected and insane pop of airtime.
  13. The unknown Intamin Hyper get's my vote. Is that the same one that used i305 for concept art?
  14. Coaster Express is still terrible. I've only ridden Blue Streak at Cedar Point once, and that was enough. Garbage coaster that needs to be burned with it's roughness. And I'm a guy who loves Mantis and Mean Streak.
  15. The base of the lift features a braced support, instead of the continuous box section (as seen on most of the recent B&Ms). Odd. I liked that look, but this looks good as well. Also, it seems like B&M is using more of these "mini" track sections at the base of their lifts. Anyone with structural design knowledge know why this is? I assume this is to reduce stress.
  16. You actually enjoy watching trains being transferred.
  17. No thanks, I prefer my coasters electrocution free.
  18. Traditional? Elaborate, please.
  19. Or just get rid of it... As long as they replace it with an amazing GCI (Gold Striker style), GG woodie (Ravine Flyer/Voyage mix) or Intamin woodie I think the park has plenty of airtime filled coasters. Something more "unique" would be better suited for CP.
  20. It seems this is the common opinion around here. I for one have never ridden Thunderbolt, but I do remember saying how "ghetto" it looked from the off ride videos. It seems my opinion was right. Thunderbolt is ghetto-fabulous!
  21. haha! this just made my night I need to go to bed...
  22. ^I agree with this. An extended layout may seem like a bit of a stretch, but nothing impossible. And with B&M going more "outside of the box" recently this is a legitimate possibility. Also, B&M coasters are known for their reliability (the upkeep of the ride is fairly low, it's a low-tech B&M) so I don't see why Vortex would get the boot (even if the ridership is low) unless CGA wants to replace it with something they find "better".
