  1. ^It's listed at $4,500,000. Wooden coasters generally have a cheaper up-front cost than steel coasters. However, with the higher-maintenance, you end up paying for it in the long run.
  2. ^^ A mega-lite would easily be the largest single capital investment in the park's history. Roughly $10 million.
  3. ^canadianparkfan was referring to SkyRider's old spot at Canada's Wonderland.
  4. ^I just noticed KD doesn't have any shuttle coasters. What about a Shuttle RMC?
  5. More family & thrilling attractions, maybe even a dark ride. I don't foresee another large $20+ million coaster anytime soon though. KD has only invested over $15 million on a coaster three times in the entire lifetime of the park. Volcano ($20m) in 1998, XLC ($15m) in 2001, and Intimidator ($25m) in 2010. There have been a few investments of $10 million throughout the history as well, the most recent one being this year. The park seems to be doing well with water, so that may be the direction for now.
  6. ^ I think the park has a nice collection of quality coasters. Dominator, Volcano, Intimidator, Flight of Fear, Back Lot, and arguably Avalacnhe. Considering attendance, that's above and beyond most parks of equal caliber. A RMC would introduce some airtime to the park, which it is sadly lacking.
  7. I've always seen Boomerangs as an amusement park's version of a tourist trap. They look enticing, causing everyone to flock to them, but are always an underwhelming disappointment.
  8. You've completely misapprehended everything I've written if you've concluded that I think KD has a bad coaster line up. I was only stating my opinions on what coasters would help improve/diverse Kings Dominion's coaster lineup. I will repeat "A flyer, dive, or even a wing coaster is considered more unique than a floorless." Nowhere in that sentence did I imply that KD needs any of these. I was simply stating coasters that stand out more to the GP than a standard sit-down looper. This can be applied to any park. I'd rather see Hurler go on second thought. Although I wonder how Grizzly's numbers would do afterwards.
  9. ^I agree wholeheartedly. I was surprised how much KD was lacking in the airtime department. Rebel Yell did surprise me though. I prefer the KD one over the KI version due to it actually having some pops of air, and being smoother. As someone mentioned before, a RMC hybrid of Hurler & Grizzly would be insane. Yes I have. I said *good* wood coaster. A unique B&M looper, in my opinion, is something more unique than a basic sit-down looping coaster found at nearly every park ever. A flyer, dive, or even a wing coaster is considered more unique/stand out than a floorless.
  10. ^I didn't find it all that "mind blowing!" It was a great ride, but not particularly my idea of a "perfect coaster." As a "perfect" coaster, in my opinion, needs something to set it high-above the others. i305 doesn't have any of that. It has intensity. But I find Mantis just as intense, albeit not as smooth.
  11. Although Millennium Force is top-notch, I'll have to say Maverick. i305 is far from "perfect" since it's nothing but speed and curves. Where is the variety? I can get that on SkyRocket.
  12. I was thinking something more along the lines of Verbolten. Lengthy & sprawling. The only thing the park is missing is a unique B&M looper, and a good wood coaster. However, with that being said, coasters are the last thing the park needs. If anything, the park needs more modern flats, the park could really benefit from those. A Zamperla giant discovery would be a good start.
  13. ^Interesting. I did a NL project for VF about a year ago that had an Invert in the current Dino's spot that interacted with the front gate. I personally wish for either an Invert or LSM coaster.
  14. KD could use a multi-launch family coaster. I believe it would help diversify the line-up of family rides. Something like Manta, but more sprawling.
  15. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a new midway with at least two flats, one restaurant, and a coaster.
  16. Fun TV was a big surprise. I noticed at both KD and CP that the majority of the queues were fully engaged in the trivia, and the music videos did make the crowds more lively. I find Fun TV to be quite enjoyable myself, minus Taylor Swift.
  17. DispatchMasterTransport VR on WT does sound interesting. Wicked Twister has multiple launches, free falls (zero-gravity), strong positive Gs and plenty of rotational forces all in a short window of time. A quick VR combined with this would provide some insane experiences. Plus with it only being one train, it would be the easiest to install VR. I'm okay with this as long as it is OPTIONAL. I can already feel the random advertisements displaying on the HUD, "brought to you by GameFly!"
  18. With over six million people and one decent amusement park, the odds are forever in CF's favor.
  19. VR sounds like a capacity nightmare.
  20. It's a discussion more than an argument.
  21. I see it as more and more parks want the next big thing, but don't want to pay the price. In the 90's it was all about having the tallest, fastest, biggest, etc. Now it's all about uniqueness, which is MUCH better than the former IMO. Parks can spend $10 million, and still have a good, if not better, ride as a $20+ million megacoaster. And with the current-gen technology, coaster design is much more complex and can do more than what was once previously thought.
  22. Kings Island says get in line... Gurl we've been the test park since 2008 Try again, 1980's...
