  1. September 18th was Rougarou's announcement date.... Atlantis Adventure is 2,198.2' long, remove the twos and the nine, and you have 18. Aqua Trax confirmed.
  2. "Prayers please for my sister and kids n grandbaby that they aren't stuck on that rollar coaster at Camden Park"
  3. Yet another slow news day. About Dozen People Stuck On Camden Park Roller Coaster
  4. Well the rumor is Cedar Point took our coaster year this year and we took theirs next year. So essentially a coaster year swap. This might explain the no teasers and signs like there was at the beginning of the season for Leviathan. They aren't even teasing us via twitter or facebook like Leviathan. That makes no sense whatsoever. "CP's was planned for this year and CW's was planned for the year following" is much more logical. One doesen't "steal" one's year for a coaster. That's enthusiasts' nonsense.
  5. Cedar Point had another whoopsie on their website again. https://www.cedarpoint.com/what-s-new/new-in-2016-valravn-world-record-breaker This looks INSANE!
  6. Sunday, October 3, 2010 Amanda Sands - regular guest I dread this day every year, the final operating day of the season. I made sure to arrive early today before the long winter off-season kicks in. As soon as the front gates opened I scrammed to Black Stallion to get some early morning rides before the line became enormous. An empty station on Black Stallion doesn't last long, and I made sure to capture this rare moment. Black Stallion has seen better days. The airtime is there just not quite what it used to be, and the roughness keeps getting worse each season. The twisted turnaround section now shuffles you around like a buckling bull on crack. After a rough ride on Black Stallion it was time to ride this year's new hotness, Rotor and Charlie Brown's Wind-up. I was rather surprised with these two "classic" rides being added this year. Charlie Brown's Wind-up has an unbelievably intense whip, comparable to Camden Park's model. After waiting 10 minutes and riding Ignition, the next ride on my itinerary was Rattle Snake. I was amazed to find that Rattle Snake had stalled during a test run, apparently due to the colder temperatures. I heard it stalled last season when it was backwards, although this is the first time I've seen it in person. I decided to skip Rattle Snake for the time being and head over to the park's star coaster, White Lightning. White Lightning was a walk-on all day and I managed to do six laps. Lines like this make up for the colder temperatures. After six laps on White Lightning I noticed that Rattle Snake was STILL down, and remained that way the rest of the day. Oh well, maybe I can ride it again next year. Nothing seemed to be working today as Cardinal kept having restraint locking issues. I watched the restraints open and close nearly a dozen times before they finally worked the kinks out. I managed to ride Cardinal once afterwards. Aha, ZER0! This massive drop tower is by far my favorite drop tower in the park. The orange color reminds me of Halloween, and Valley Hills' lack of a Halloween event. Seriously, almost every major park has one of these and I feel like Valley Hills is missing out. I'd like to eventually see a Halloween event at the park, but I'm not holding my breath... Camp Snoopy was rather "productive" this evening. I almost missed this, but apparently work is already underway for next season. I spy footers! And a lot of wood. It looks like they're extending the land out onto the lake. This must be a big deal if they're that desperate for land. Towering Inferno has been closed since its incident in July. I haven't ridden it since 2009, and that was a rather unpleasant experience. The ride is way past its prime and needs to GO in my opinion. Rumor has it that Towering Inferno has been up for sale since January. I'd love to see an Aqua Trax replace it! Allegheny Hall was having a 30% off deal, and with it being the last day of the season they're probably just trying to get rid of their inventory before season's end. Which is fine by me as I got three hot dogs and a large drink for only $10! This is unheard of in a Cedar Fair park. With all the technical & structural difficulties Pulse has had over the years, and with it being an Intamin, you'd think it would be down to. Surprise, surprise, Pulse was working flawlessly all day. Pulse always delivers a solid ride with it high-speed launches and holding brake section. Today was great way to end the season, minus a few minor hiccups. I'm looking forward to what's to come next year. -Amanda Sands
  7. Stand up coasters were a gimmick that died out in the 90's. Why bring back such a gimmicky and ill-fated ride design? I see this as a cheap sales tactic.
  8. No one's picking on you or saying your posts "suck." It's called having a conversation on an Internet Forum. Nothing wrong with that. Just because you weren't satisfied with someones response doesn't mean you should quit TPR. That's being quite ridiculous.
  9. The worlds first enterprise? Sounds awfully familiar. I do like the Bobsleigh coaster. It has a wonderful rock facade that seems to really add to the ride experience. With a freely moving car, it makes it that much scarier. The queue also has some nice touches to it, a bit bare, but still nearly up there with Universal and Disney as far as decor goes. The park also has a dark ride, the Haunted Castle. That should offer something a bit more outside the box for guests, and a break from the heat too. That is quite a big plot of land being cleared relative to current park size. I can see a new area of the park, or possibly a coaster (judging by the early start) opening up there by the end of this season or the beginning of next season.
  10. This is really shaping up to be a great park. I love the mix of coasters and animals, you do that quite well and make it realistic. Steel Sidewinder should help pull in a lot of numbers this season, I hope this turns out well for the park.
  11. Frontier Forest now has two flume-like rides & a water coaster. I wonder if this spells more water-based attractions. Anyways, as for next year I suspect a Giant Inverted Boomerang & possibly a hyper coaster after that.
  12. For sure. If it was an exciting turn around then the space would be justified. But since it is a 'ho-hum' experience it is taking up too much valuable real estate vs what the other Morgan Hypers would take and provide the same experience. In one of these forums someone wrote that Dorney Park was supposed to get Wild Thing and VF was going to get Steel Force but the neighborhoods adjacent to Dorney complained that it would create to much noise so they moved Wild Thing to VF because the track was already made. Then they figured out the 'noise issue' with the community in the off season and the following year they put Steel Force at Dorney. I don't know if there is any truth to this but interesting to think about if it had gone that way. There is no truth to that story. Every project is mainly between the client (the park) and the firm (Morgan). Morgan designed the roller coaster to fit Valleyfair specifically, and so is the case for Steel Force at Dorney Park. NewsPlusNotes posted an article on Wild Thing a while ago. The concept art shows one of the spirals perfectly outlining what appears to be a pond. That makes it quite obvious that is was designed to fit in a specific location.
  13. I don't see how that would even be enjoyable. And yes, it is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
  14. Not every park needs a new big coaster to grow. Valleyfair is investing capital into more family-friendly attractions to draw in more families. That is is what has been happening for quite some time so it must be working for them. A B&M or RMC at this current time seems random and too risky as it completely negates what the park is currently doing. Remember, this is a business first and foremost, whatever brings in the money (family investments) will keep happening until they find/implement a better means of growth or stability.
  15. I took this July 11. I don't know if this has been posted before or has been there forever. If so, please disregard the following. EDIT: Never mind, Google Maps confirms this has been there since at least August of 2011.
  16. ... But what about the airtime? The first big camelback hill has some nice floater air over the top, the second one is the same. It's comparable to B&M Hypers, specifically Diamondback's strongest hill, just not as prolonged. The first & second overbanked turn have a lot of positive G's is should add. So yeah, I don't know why people claim it to be "forceless." It still ranks 14th on the MH polls, and 7th overall in the US. That's quite the coaster, especially considering all the new ones popping up each year. Truly a fantastic coaster.
  17. Those models looks fantastic. It's quite ingenious of you to use No Limits for scale in reference, neat. If I may ask, what exactly are those dimensions. I'm curious to know as well.
  18. Sky Rocket @ Kennywood was much better than I expected.
  19. ^Expect less than half of what you would get on a Saturday. Sundays are usually the slowest days of the week.
  20. I've actually visited the park on a Tuesday around this time two years ago. The lines weren't that bad. The rides listed below are the average wait I've seen for them, but for a Tuesday. So they may be 5-10 minutes shorter due to lower crowd levels. Millennium Force, 30-40 mins This coaster almost always operates at full capacity. The line is always moving, so it's not too bad. Dragster, typically is 45 minutes. Dragster's line fluctuates throughout the day, so it can be anywhere from 25 to 45 mins. Maverick I've never seen a line less than 1hr for this one, day or night. It's a long haul but WELL worth it. Magnum XL-200 & Wicked Twister I've never waited in a line more than 30 minutes for these two. GateKeeper Like Raptor, it's the first big ride everyone see's. So the line doesn't die down until later in the day. I've always ridden this after 4pm where the line is anywhere between 25-40 minutes. Rougarou It's the new hotness so expect a decent wait. However, it was 10-20 minutes by nightfall.
  21. ^Yes, that could work to. However It would be hard to see any part of the ride minus the lift from that angle. :/ The original configuration doesn't pose much of a problem, as far as elevation differences go, since that section of the ride already sits up pretty high. The bottom of the first drop might need a trench, but the rest can sit on higher footers like Dominator where needed.
