  1. Besides the ones that live down the street from me, I do think other aliens exist for the same reasons mentioned above. I would just love to see what rides they have!
  2. My "main" camera is the Canon 50D. I don't shoot too much video, but the HD video quality on it is very good, and is enough for me. It also keeps me from having to carry a camera and a video camera. Nikon also has an equivalent, but it's a bigger war than Windows or Mac over which is better(although both are very similar). Plus, with the lenses I already have for the camera, my zoom capabilities now are much better. I do have a Canon HV30 video camera that is collecting dust as well. My backup/rough usage camera is currently a panasonic DMC-TS1. However, I would rather have the Olympus Stylus Tough-8010 now that it has HD recording capabilities. The Olympus is waterproof up to 33 feet(the most out of any), so I can use it when doing small scuba dives, and Olympus is the only "tough" style camera that has a lens cover. Both canon and panasonic's tough cameras have absolutely no lens cover so you have to be very careful.
  3. I wouldn't mind if they go take out the Oakland Coliseum next! After they put up the Davis wall, and the other changes, it lost a lot of it's goodness. It is too bad that they weren't able to save the gate. I'm surprised the owner didn't keep it.
  4. I have used GPS for a long time, so hopefully I can help. I do like Garmin the best. They seem to be pretty much on the forefront, and are one of the most popular, so there are more accessories/options. The downside is that the maps are expensive. If you get the Nuvi's, I think you can get an unlimited map update for about $100, which is a pretty good deal considering it used to be almost $100 a year. Garmin is also Mac friendly. It's a little buggy, but Magellan doesn't work with Mac at all (this may not matter though). Also, do you do any sort of hiking/camping? If so, you may want to get one of those types of GPS. Probably to most popular, and the best, is the Garmin 60csx. I used it primarily in my car, but it was also really good for camping and hiking. I had really good routing features pretty comparable to the basic Nuvi's. Waypoints are saved locations. For example, Chick-fil-A, your favorite restaurant, just opened a new location. You can set it as a waypoint, and everytime you want to go there, you just pick it and say take me there. After over 10 years of having my GPS, I only have a total of about 100 waypoints saved up. However, memory size is more important to me than waypoints saved. For example, when I am hiking in the mountains, I set my GPS to keep track of my progress, so that way there is a trail of imaginary "crumbs" to follow back if I need to. As for the portable version, I'm pretty sure it's just a size thing. The 205 has a "smaller, sleeker" design that can fit in your pocket. Also figure in the cost of accessories. If you will use it in the car a lot, you will definitely need a stand of some sort. Some come with one, others don't. That's all I can think of now, let me know if you need more information.
  5. Ok, so this is probably wayyyyyyyyyy to late, but ClubTPR could be another way to go.
  6. I think Ice Bat's list should become it's own thread! This is definitely the best ClubTPR package report.
  7. DHS does seem very odd. Thanks for the report. This will be interesting to watch with all the teacup rides out there. There was one teacup ride that was pretty scary and felt like it was going to throw you out. It was a tiny version at La Qua, and the "cup" barely came halfway up my back.
  8. I remember seeing this as well. It really was a slow news day. Best part was that about 3 hours after it was over, our local paper put it as the headline, but they still had the initial report with nothing about it being over.
  9. That's also why I don't mind going alone. Lucky for me though, my wife likes exactly the same things as me, so when she is there I still get to do everything I want! (I hope it's that she likes exactly what I like, and not because she is very familiar with the back of my hand and the bottom of my foot! )
  10. It really does have a ton of networking/professional opportunities. Just having Disney on your résumé is a huge bonus. I would say that having Disney on my résumé was a huge reason why I either got two of my jobs. One was the Manger of Operations for a Waterpark, and the other was as a Human Resources Manager. Out of all the things on my résumé, they both only talked about Disney. You do learn a lot about working in the corporate world, the good and the bad, and the classes you take are great leadership courses that some corporations spend a ton of money to take. There are quite a few CP's that end up staying on with disney, and some even get management/professional jobs. As for networking, there is a ton of that as well. I still keep in touch with a bunch of my co-workers and roommates. Each one of those contacts are great resources that can help me find a job all over the US, or recommend companies to do business with. It ended up being more usefull for me than the degree I got. Of course it all depends on you. Some people end of hating it and have a bad attitude. It becomes just a job to them, they finish their time, and that's it. But if you go in with the mindset that you are there for the networking and professional opportunities, then you can benefit a lot.
  11. I love this thread, but it makes me realize how much I have missed growing up in Northern California and not have a family that liked theme parks.
  12. But they do have plug and play, it's in the locker rental area. Theres a kiosk there where you can charge your phone I think this will be pretty interesting to watch. I wish it would move a little more than just hover. Maybe if you pay the pilot a little extra he will do a Tower of Terror Demo
  13. It is going downhill I really liked the first ones, but it is seeming more and more scripted , and more like extreme employee makeover. The wife and I both said that Albert had to be a TPR member when he pulled out RCT
  14. Thanks for the update, lot of great looking stuff! As for face characters, I think the Prince Naveen character will always be screwed. I have yet to even see one guy look even remotely like him. Even the asian with orange hair peter pan at Epcot looks more like their character than the Prince Naveen character.
  15. Glad to hear it's running pretty smooth. It was pretty rough during the trip last year. I would love to try it again.
  16. Kanji is definitely too difficult to be really useful. But Katakana is pretty easy to learn. It includes 48 "letters," but is much more useful than any other japanese alphabet. Hiragana is their basic alphabet, but unless you know the translation, it is useless. For food, katakana can be very easy. For example, you could easily figure out that Cho-ko-re-to (チョコレト) is chocolate, or do-na-tsu(ドナツ) is donuts, or su-to-ra-be-ri(ストラベリ) is strawberry flavor. I have taken japanese for a few years, but whenever I was in Japan, most of the time I used english, and the rest of the the time I used katakana. TPR cultural lesson for the day
  17. Japan is really english friendly. You should have no problem, especially if you spend most of your time at Disney. The only thing is that I would study up on the Katakana alphabet. Almost all of their food menus are written in that, and since it is english based, you can understand a ton of whats on the menu. I really like thunder dolphin. That park is a lot of fun, plus they have a Baskin Robbins with some different flavors. Just make sure that while you are at Disneyland/Disney Sea you check every single food cart, in addition to the popcorn carts. Unlike the normal hot dogs, turkey legs, and popcorn standard carts of America, every food cart in Disney Sea is different, and most in disneyland as well! Their chicken legs are so good, as are their Gyoza buns! I am so jealous! And you will absolutely love the Narita first class lounge. The sandwiches are sooo good! It makes the SFO lounge look worthless!
  18. ^ What do you mean "employees"? It's really Crush and the Monsters.
  19. To me, this looks no where near the previous pictures of real racing vehicles. It looks as if they started, but then ran out of money and just kept it like that. Personally, I think the seats are the worst part. They just don't look right. Some of us just think it looks ugly. No amount of pictures or arguments will change that. As for theming, props for trying, but I don't think it looks good. Just my opinion.
  20. The only 300+ coaster I have ridden is Steel Dragon 2000, and I was very disappointed. It was just meh. The drop wasn't that steep, and there wasn't any airtime. The most intense part was the lift hill! So it all depends on the ride whether it is too intense or not.
  21. Best: X2, Tatsu, and Riddler's Revenge Worst: Kong. That super slow head banging loop is horrible.
  22. ^^ I'm surprised they didn't do an official video before. Wouldn't you want the first thing everyone sees for your new ride perfect (as in Robb quality)?
  23. That POV is pretty bad, especially if it's "official."
  24. I totally agree. It looks like a stripped down car on wheels, with cheap captain seats.
  25. I think those stickers do look cheap. If the front of the train looked like a normal car, and the stickers were normal size, then that would be better. In other words, if it looked like a real nascar than I would understand more. However, it does look like someone just stuck some stickers on the side.
