Balls of Fury As much as I like Reno 911! (this movie was written by the guy that plays Dangle on the show) This movie sucked balls. The only good part? Trudy having a cameo as a dancer in the beginning and Dangle playing the German guy. Other than that, it was a pretty bad comedy that I think would have fared better as a movie on Comedy Central. 2/10. [EDIT: As a matter of fact, I theater hopped once in the middle of the movie to Superbad, but god-damn ushers hiding in the shadows. and the other reason for buying a ticket to this movie was that so we could sneak in to Superbad since there was a 16 year old in my group.]

For the trips question, Think ahead, remember what times of year the trips are going to be, how much your willing to spend, etc. Can't answer for you, its something you're going to have to think out on your own. As for the season pass thing, I don't know.

Skull Kingdom obituary...
Homer replied to kayoss's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Skull Kingdom will be remembered because it was home to one of the first Screamin' Swings ever made. Anyways, I drove by it, I wanted to ride the Screamin' Swing. But it was eerie in the way that there were barely cars in that small parking lot and I never really see anybody walk in and out of that place. RIP Skull Kingdom, may you join the ranks of other tacky Orlando tourist traps such as Xanadu, Race Rock, etc. -
Alton Towers to use "cloud seeding" Some weird science is going to be used to control the weather. Cloud seeding sounds like an extremely screwed up thing that I haven't heard of. Dropping particles into clouds to lower rain chances? This sounds like something Cedar Point (or any CF park) should get. It sounds weird, yet fascinating though.

New Amusement Park Movie: "Adventureland"
Homer replied to Not For Sale's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After seeing Superbad, I'm making this movie a must see for me. At least this roller coaster movie will have me laughing instead of worrying for dear life (Rollercoaster, Final Destination 3). -

I thought Vortex was alright, little painful, but nothing really special. You have to be kinda crazy to actually consider it a top 10 (then again, I'm the only one who thought Son Of Beast was an alright ride ). -
Photo-TR: Heide Park (It Was So Crowded)
Homer replied to Hattuchili's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great TR Soren. Heide Park looks like a nice park as with most Europe parks. As for leaving Germany again. Trying to get back to Disney? If so, good luck, maybe I can finally meet up at the Germany pavilion! -

^They are all one major park. The water park is on one side, the theme park on the other. -
Geauga Lake Discussion Thread
Homer replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Screamscape: Raging Wolf Bobs may never reopen, Villain and Head Spin getting estimates for relocation. It seems like the rides side of Geauga Lake has become the garage sale for other Cedar Fair parks. I guess by the time CF is done stripping Geauga of major rides, it would probably be Geauga before SF took over it. In a way, we'll miss the rides side of Geauga Lake. If CF is trying to go for a family style park, don't they still have those rocket flyers in their scrapyard? -

TPR's visit to CP > Everybody elses visit. Power outages, free flashlights, crazy weather, TGI Fridays, credit fun-run. Despite numerous "set backs," I still had a blast at the Point and I would really want to relive this experience again [obvious Tivo joke]. And people thought I was crazy for calling it MILF. -
Geauga Lake Discussion Thread
Homer replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wanted to visit Geauga Lake back in 03/04. Back then it seemed like a park with a solid ride selection and a nice looking "Sea World" park. But, it seemed like my prediction of GL has also came true, CF bought it just so they could monopolize Ohio and vanquish nearby competition so that Cedar Point and Kings Island could be the premier parks of Ohio. Back when the park was SFWoA, it seemed like it could fare a decent battle against CP in terms of value and family friendliness [then again, this is Premier SF were talking about, not Shapiro's SF]. People still visited the park because Sea World was a huge draw for the area (wasn't it the only marine park in the area for like, miles?) Six Flags added some really good rides to the park that could basically start a friendly fight of sorts with Cedar Point. But, Six Flags' debt was basically the killer of why SFWoA was sold to Cedar Fair. At first I thought Cedar Fair's management would clean up the park a little bit, but eventually it seems like the black sheep of CF parks. While CF did a good job from what I've seen of a nice looking waterpark, they basically still haven't "completed" it yet. Look at the concept art from the announcement back in 2004. There is still a few more slides needed to be installed that I'm surprised CF hasn't done already with their wave pool last season. It also seems kind of pitiful (from a TR I've read about a month ago) to see a mostly intact water park covered in weeds, with a perfectly good slide complex still back there (it was the new Shark Attack tower SF installed in 2003). I wanted to visit Geauga Lake because it just had that ambience of a perfect day with a ride side full of good rides and a water park that looked really good. But now, it's sad to see rides take a backseat so that Cedar Fair could say, "Ya want rides? Go the extra 90 miles to Cedar Point!" In a way, I wish these rumors were fanboy murmurs for their parks to get "new" coasters. But, I guess not. It's kind of sad to see the park go from its prime (back in 03/04) to its demise of sorts 4-5 years later. -

Missed Credits: Coasters you COULD have...
Homer replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Several for me: Mount O: Lil' Titans - the only ride the park actually enforces rules on. Six Flags Great America: American Eagle - Ryan and I were just two trains away from getting the blue side credit, but then it rained, and we were pissed. And after that, we had to meet up with R&E for the long ride to CP. Spacely's Sprocket Rockets - Ryan and I thought this wasn't worth a 20 minute wait. Cedar Point: Jr. Gemini - I didn't feel like whoring. Kennywood: Lil Phantom - Didn't feel like going to the kids section, though I say Casey fitting was a feat. Steel Phantom - I had an opportunity when I was 9 to ride this bad boy, but I was too scared. I kinda regret it, but at the same time, I love Phantom's Revenge, so kind of a mixed feeling there. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom: Thunder Run - It was broken, enough said. [six Flags] Elitch Gardens Boomerang - Closed. Kiddie coaster - didn't feel like whoring. Lakeside (Denver) Drove by it, but my parents weren't bothered to stop over. I think that covers just about everything. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Homer replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Alright, yet more stuff from Geauga Lake going away. First, Screamscape believes some KD fanboys in thinking that Dominator will be heading to the park next season. http://www.screamscape.com/html/kings_dominion.htm Second off, Michigans Adventure fanboys rejoice. You're finally getting a ride! But, what is it? Its Thunderhawk from Geauga. http://www.screamscape.com/html/michigan_s_adventure.htm -
Be sure to check the schedule. Rich or James should help you with that.

Jesus, that looks like one awesome airtime machine. As for the trains, as long as everyone gets a good view, however it looks and seems weird. The name? Great job CF, I'm surprised you didn't call this Maple XL-200 or (as above) Maplehawk. Behemoth is a fitting name. Can't wait to ride this thing some day!
