2007 Golden Tickets Announced
Homer replied to CoasterFanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Predictable but not as bad as past years. At least Disney finally got in there. But Griffon, SheiKra, and Montu low on the list? That's an insult. What would people possibly have against B&M (other than Iron Wolf/early Stand-ups, S:UF, and Hydra)? I wonder where they get the enthusiasts though (the enthusiast vote I mean, I know the other categroies are from insiders/Amusement Today subscribers). Oh well, just another few months until Mitch's polls. -
Looks like Wes' prediction came true with the iPod Touch. I was considering it until I noticed the space and became a little "Ehh, the space feels kind of constrained, almost like a PSP." Also, as nice as portable web browsing would be (especially on TPR trips), I think a laptop would be better. The other peeve of the iPod touch would be finger smudges/scratches. Quick question though, are existing 80 GB models now going to be $249?

Terry, if you've got a van like Erik Johnson's van, I wouldn't be surprised if you were featured on To Catch a Predator. You did better than Ryan and I did at credit whoring SFGAm.

^When RCT3 was released back in 2004, Atari announced a design contest that was sponsored by Hershey. The grand prize was $100,000. But, the winning design was Blue Kangaroo, which was a very, very unrealistic coaster. You can read up on it here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25481&highlight=blue+kangaroo

Maybe he did ride Maverick on his last try before the accident. He was on I-90, maybe he stopped off at CP and since he was close to his goal last month, that he'd definitely fit Maverick at CP. Just wishful thinking. I, again, seriously hope his friends and family are doing well right now.

ATTENTION - HAUX gets 1,000th ride on Raptor!

Alex, you're a true American hero. May you ride Raptor rain or shine, even with a shirt covered in grease. -
TPR 2008 Trips! Download the flyers here!
Homer replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Not sure about the first one, however its always nice to write a letter if you're mailing a check. Secondly, it should say on the flyer, you make the check out to Theme Park Review. -

Who ever has, or knows, about Windows Vista, PLEASE READ!!

Have you tried right clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator?" That's the problem most of the time with RCT3 and Vista. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Homer replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, here's another coaster removal rumor deal going on. It looks like Great Adventure has had it with Chiller. http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_flags_great_adventure.htm Despite the loads of downtime, tweaking the layout once, and countless other things. It wouldn't surprise me either. Though I will miss the good theming (that was themed after a bad movie). -
RIP, Masked_Maverick, Daniel T.Miller
Homer replied to dandaman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, this kind of shocked me. I liked talking to him and it was kind of odd where I saw no new posts of his on here or the other forum he posted at (ThrillNetwork). His family is in my prayers tonight, I hope they get well soon and I hope Dan is doing well wherever he is now. -

A super, crazy, but yet, AWESOME Idea
Homer replied to Team Thriller's topic in Random, Random, Random
That would be my wettest dream ever. -
The only main difference between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray is capacity on the disks and what movie companies support the format. If you ask me, I'm indifferent on this format war until I see a winner.

The Official "TPR MidWest USA 2007" Trip Thread!
Homer replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'm surprised this update did not have Shari pimping her daughter for rides on the kiddie coaster. That was a great day to end the trip and I think our Beast "ERT" had me realize why it has such a cult following of sorts among its fans. The Midwest trip was awesome, hopefully I'll be able to do a trip in 2009 if school doesn't get in the way like next summer. I may do the Texas trip if that happens though. Again, thanks for the awesome time Robb and Elissa! -
Mondial Heartbreaker coming to America?
Homer replied to RCoasterny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Whoa, this is like a Falling Star on crack. Where in America is this being built (or what Carnival show is getting it?) -
^I still prefer Publix, the reason why I'm working at Sweetbay is because that's the only place that's hiring that does not have a "waiting list" or just not hiring at the moment (unless its temporary). Oh well, at least its better bagging at a supermarket than working at Panera.

I finally got a new job as as a bagger at Sweetbay. At least its a job that pays.

^I'm pretty sure Phantom's Revenge would have blown away Steel Phantom ride-wise. Leaving an inversion would kind of make the ride painful instead of the nice air-filled ride it is. Meanwhile, thanks for posting the Kennywood update. I have to say, if any of the Kennywood management is reading this, thank you for the awesome day and the generous ERT, walk backs, and dinner. -
And to add to the Waffle House experience, go during the late night/early morning hours (from 10 PM to 6 AM) to meet some very colorful people that would make Larry the Cable Guy look like Shakespeare. But mainly, enjoy the waffles, some of the best darn waffles ever made. [EDIT - No offense to anybody (the poster above), but some people you overhear there make a nice, funny memory.]

TPR Arrives in Japan!
Homer replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looking forward to more crazy Japanese stuff in the official thread. Arcades with co-ed strip clubs full of weird acts? I'm pretty sure something on this trip will be weirder. Glad everyone is arriving safely in Japan right now and thanks for this quick mini-update. -
