Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread
Homer replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This has to be the best demolition since Psyclone at SFMM. Like Scott, I also think its weird how the ride was imploded rather than taken down by cranes. Oh well, implosion seemed more economically viable I guess than hiring a crew to take it down bit by bit if all SF is going to do is scrap it. -

Alright, so today I tried two varieties of Vitamin Water for the first time ever. XXX - Tasted just like grape Kool-Aid. A decent drink. Revive - Tasted almost like XXX, but I felt like XXX had more flavor. These products ain't half bad at all. I kinda "get" it now.

Epcot Center: Photo TR of the 25th Anniversary
Homer replied to pianojohn's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Wow, looks like Disney went all out for this event. The museum and the park map look totally awesome. Although Spaceship Earth still hasn't opened, at least its wandless! Thanks for posting this TR! Makes me want to go to EPCOT now. -
^In order to resize an image, go up to Image > Resize. It does a good job sizing down images, but "blowing them up", not so good. Also, for good looking images, in Paint.NET, be sure to keep "Maintain Aspect Ratio" ON!

The vending machine at my school. Ugh, I'm not sure if the school fixed the machine just to eat dollar bills and not give you a drink. That machine owes me two Mocha Frappucinos.

What's not to "get"? I mean, why pay money for flavored and colored water when you can just get water for free virtually anywhere? Anyways, I'll try some Vitamin Water when I work next time. Might try that energy one.

I don't really "get" flavored water. The only experience I had with flavored water was the Powerade Option water (the grape flavor) and that burned my throat and tasted horrible. Next time at work I'll try Vitamin Water, but I'm not sure what flavor to try first.

No. Did you use a post it note?

NOTE: I do NOT make signatures or have a "signature shop" of sorts. However, this forum has an abundance of signature shops full of people willing to make banners for you. Over the past few days, I've received several PM's regarding my signature: ...and so on... So, on to Homer's "Guide to a Tricked Out Signature." 1. Programs There are several programs out there for editing images that are WAY better than your simple little "Paint" program that's bundled with Windows. Sure, there are fancypants professional programs like Adobe Photoshop that are extremely expensive or you could go for a simpler program that I feel is more accessible to the general public than Adobe Photoshop (and is free). The program I primarily use is Paint.NET, which is basically a dumbed down version of Photoshop (and is free). You can download it here: http://www.getpaint.net/ If you're wondering how I "made my 'slide show'," the proper term for that would be ".GIF." A .GIF file is basically a series of images all into one file that slides through. For those of you wanting an animated .GIF program, I use a simple program called "Microsoft GIF Animator." You can get it here (for free): http://www.jhepple.com/gif_animator.htm 2. Making the Banner Most forums have signature restrictions for banner images. I usually keep my banners at 350 pixels by 100 pixels. I'll add more in this section later. 3. Saving Once your done, save the image (File -> Save As) as a .JPG image. If you're making a .GIF 'slide show', save it as a .GIF file. 3a. "Making a GIF/'Slide Show'" Once you made a series of images (each of them saved as 'filename.GIF'), start up Microsoft GIF Animator. At this time, put your images into the program in whatever order you want. After that, click the "3-floppy disk icon" to save it and voila, you have made a "slide show signature." 4. Putting it in your signature 4a. Hosting First thing to get your banner out there on the net is by hosting it on an image host. I use http://imageshack.us , but almost any other image hosting site will do. 4b. Putting it in your signature at the forums By putting the "Img" tags around the URL (which is the "http://www.themeparkreview.com/image.JPG" ) Simply put, wrap the Img tags around it like so: [img=http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/6498/coastercountji2.png] The end result should be THIS: I think this wraps it up for now. If there are any other questions, reply in here, but please do not PM me.

Andy Shine's Quiz Time

6/10, need to brush up on my coaster inventors. -
^Don't worry, all is not lost in TPR posters. To contribute, here is my opinion on Foo Fighters- "Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace" The album mixes together a mostly slow pace and some really good songs. My personal favorite track from the album would have to be the hit single "The Pretender." There's just something about that song that makes me want to play it over and over again, but I'm not quite sure what. But if you're a fan of alternative rock, as with any Foo Fighters CD, this is a must buy.

^I never thought a scene from "A Christmas Story" could quite possibly happen inside a Publix.

The Great Escape (TGE) Discussion Thread
Homer replied to Red Benny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Quoted for the truth. At least its better than the name "Goliath" being plastered on to a B:TR clone. -
All I can just say is, constant "job hopping" within a short amount of months will make future bosses think you're a person that "can't keep a job and not worth the time." I loathed my old job after working there three months, but I didn't quit until about a year after I was hired. Now I work at another place, and I kinda hate it, but does that make me "quit on the spot?" No. All jobs have crappy shortcomings, get used to it. If you really hate your job, then just quit around after you've worked there about a year or so. Hopping around jobs on a monthly basis isn't good and doing this constantly would come back and haunt you.

Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Homer replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First off, on Nantimi. As much as I expected it to be something developed by a crazed 14 year old fanatic, it baffled me good (and sorry for the "fake 3D beta video", but then again, it was in the spirit of the thread). Nice viral, HP. Now onto the ride itself. I'm not sure whether or not it will be as intense as Maverick, but I hope the vertical lift does not cause mechanical issues often. I was kind of hoping for an 11 looping coaster, but Fahrenheit looks like another awesome ride that will suit Hersheypark's other 10 coasters. -
Good riddance for SFOG's Deja Vu, that thing was a lawn ornament 90% of the time. Glad the park is getting a new kids area, especially since that Looney Toons area looked like it wasn't much for a kids area (unless you count the 'tipping Longhorn Foghorn' statue). Thomas Town was a much needed addition.

Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
Homer replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While this looks like another nicely designed GCI ride, there's one question about theming Evel Kinevel. Will it have a ring of fire and 20 buses under an airtime hill? Again, SFStL has been needing some love and Shapiro has been adding some nice additions to the park. With THBS and now EK, glad to see some decent new thrills added into the park. -
Columbus Day, seriously, schools never get that day off anymore.

Six Flags always ends up saying that about a park in the chain every few years when they invest a ton of money in it. Let me name some parks that have been considered "crown jewels." 2000: Six Flags Magic Mountain- addition of 4 new rides for 2001 and "The X-treme Park!" marketing. 2001-03: Six Flags Worlds of Adventure- addition of several new rides/Sea World/announcements of a "giant volcano walk through" and Cartoon Network area to be built later. (We all what happened to that park) 2006: Six Flags Marine World- transformation into Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to be the standard of "Shapiro's Six Flags." 2006: Six Flags Fiesta Texas- Shapiro said to be "extremely pleased with this park." 2006: Great Escape- see SFFT. 2005-07: Six Flags Great Adventure- 2 new coasters back to back, new children's areas. So technically, Six Flags has 5 "crown jewel" parks (excluding SFWoA/GL). Most of this crown jewel stuff comes after a major announcement/addition and does not necessarily mean that a park in the chain is a "jewel/flagship" park. Sometimes, it seems like the head of SF is like a politician and whenever he claims a park is a "crown jewel," fanboys go and gloat about it, even though there have been other parks in the past that have been said to be flagship parks.

The BIG End-of-the-season HP Photo TR 9-23-07
Homer replied to Ccron10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You know, I think I enjoy your TR for the fact that somehow most of your pics focuses more on the funny looks of the GP than the park itself. A nice end-of-season update of Hersheypark though.
