PortAventura Discussion Thread

That would be great. Although, if I had the chance to choose, I would rather have them maybe do just a re-tracking on this one (and keeping it a nice family friendly coaster) and building a new one in another place in the park. That's what happens when you have a coaster which goes quite slowly through the hills even with full trains. -
So what were the best new coasters of 2014?

You know, there is the total risk of this happening, but I always have to remind myself of this... A day where you end up buying a Fast Lane pass and don't really need it is much, MUCH better than a day where you didn't buy it, desperately needed it, and they sold out for the day. True. Especially if you've travelled a long way to go to the park (which is pretty much always the case with me) -

I wonder if aerodynamics play the biggest role in the drag of a ride (if it's not super fast). Maybe it's the type of wheels and their assembly that matter the most? -

I'm surprised they're doing this so soon. Is it common? I imagined they would just turn it off, or are they going to send it to rougarou? -

You came all the way from England and you didn't get Fast Lane on a busy day? Seems like a mistake to me. The line as over two hours one of the days we went. Had Fast Lane - rode 4 times in a row. Oh fast passes, buy one and you are instantly spoilt for life and never want to have to wait in line again. Haha! So true -

April. When was the last time you felt a desperate need to go to the bathroom while in line for a coaster?

Not really. The park is great, bu I wouldn't call myself a fanboy. The person below has been given bruises by some coaster.

That's also true. Still I think that dominator, SKC, medusa (SFDK) and scream are their only rides with taller vertical loops, right? Medusa at SFDK has a loop that is essentially identical to Thunderbird. 128 feet, if I recall correctly (vs. 125 at HW). Dominator is taller. Haven't been on SKC but it's also taller. Thunderbird's loop looks like it will have the rapid rotation at the top with maximum "downward" pointing time. Medusa, Afterburn and a few others do this very nicely, but Thunderbird will have a much nicer setting. Speaking of the loop. I've noticed that both Medusa and Scream (which have loops only 3 feet taller than thunderbird's) have top speeds of respectively 65 and 63 mph. Wild eagle is one mph faster than thunderbird and it only has a 110 ft loop (although that could be because of terrain changes) so what I'm wondering is how will the loop be so tall if the top speed isn't even hit right before it? Maybe it's designed to go slowly through the top to provide some hang time (I actually prefer if it didn't as I like these big loops to provide at max a bit of weightlessness but no negatives because I enjoy the feeling of still being on your seat when you're upside down so that it actually feels like the rest of the world is the wrong way up and not you). -
Unnecessary Queuing Lines
rcjp replied to palmerleeberry's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Is it just me or, if the path under the launch track has enough protection (TTD's is basically a concrete tunnel) it's safer to be there than next to the track? -

^I also like TTD's infield queue. If all that space is there, why not use it? -

^I was only talking about B&M. I think viper (SFMM) also has a taller one. -

Me too, especially as that's a common thing with CF's B&Ms. Excuse me? Flight Deck, Afterburn, Intimidator, Diamondback, Banshee, Vortex (Carowinds), Behemoth, and Dominator would like to have a word with you! Ok, maybe I should have said CP (as, until now all their B&Ms had this double track color scheme). I know they might not be the majority across all CF parks, but I would say that most B&Ms with these types of schemes belong to CF (or many of them). -

That would sound more impressive if there was more than one wing coaster with a vertical loop right now. True, but it'll still be pretty large. -
