^It's amazing the difference the supports will can make. Black supports with red track is one of my favourite schemes but all red... well, let's see. I just hope it doesn't blow up my PC screen. -

The "Oh Sh*^" moments vs. a good ride
rcjp replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually think the drop tower with the best "holy sh!t" moment of anticipation is Demon Drop. I don't know why, but nothing else comes close. I agree. while the noises S&S towers make do build up the anticipation, nothing works quite like the silence on those 1st gen ones. -

Don't know if this has been mentioned (probably it has so sorry) but when did they install drive tires on the upside down section of the last dive loop? I assume they're there to prevent the ride from stalling. -
I don't hate it at all but I didn't seem to enjoy lightning racer as much as most people here do. I rode it once in each side and I thought it was okay. Not rough (well, nowhere near wildcat) but not smooth either and it didn't do much for me. I hardly remember lifting out of my seat and while the pacing was good, I don't know, I didn't find it anything special. I prefer blue streak. Maybe I caught in an off day, I don't know. I'm still looking forward to trying GCIs like wodan, gold striker and wood coaster in China but I often hear people saying lighting racer is one of their best creations.

The "Oh Sh*^" moments vs. a good ride
rcjp replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
True. Having not ridden el toro I can say skyrush is like this. I also think there are two types of Oh Sh!t moments: the ones that come when people look at the description of a ride (I imagine TTD must have been like that with its 400 ft + height) and the ones during the actual rides which sometimes, nobody expected to be Oh Sh!t (I'm thinking of superman at warner's first drop in the back which packs a great punch and probably no many people were expecting it) So basically for me if a coaster has lots of Oh Sh!t moments it will be great while one or two (TTD and KK) might make it good. On the other hand there are coasters with little Oh Sh!t moments (at least for us enthusiasts) which are still awesome: I love Dragon Khan and its only real moment like that is the zero g. Abismo is my only skyloop and it's definitely a good ride (especially when you consider its length) -

^Wow that's a massive one! -
I like to do these with both my hands up and legs stretched. It enhances the freefall feeling. I try doing that, but as soon as the weightless-ness kicks in, I'm like "oh ****" and grab on for dear life. This happened to me the first time I rode Nitro at SFGAdv. It was when I started putting my hands up on coasters and I did have them up as we crested the lift but when the air kicked in and it felt like I was going to fly off (which was a first for me) I quickly grabbed the restrains. By the third second hill, however, I already had my hands back up. Oh, and due to my specific size (and it has been exactly like that for more than two years) on every single B&M either the restraint is either slightly loose or a bit tight (not too much, though as many times it locks during the ride). This applies for both lap bars and OTSR. Usually I start with the gap and eventually it closes due to the G forces

True. ^I also try to find buildings that (given the number of floors) are more or less the same height as certain coasters to tell other people. -
