My angry letter to Universal Orlando
dougr replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dear Penthouse Forum, You are never going to believe this story. I work for a large movie-oriented theme park in Florida. I was working the single rider line at an attraction based on a popular movie, when I noticed a striking guy with sad but beautiful eyes standing by himself in the line. I was excited, but too scared to do anything until he was safely on the ride-then I called out to him-I wasn't sure he understood what I said, so I boarded his craft and asked if I could ride with him. Soon our hands were all over each other...soon my hand reached down to EDITED BY SITE OWNER -
Cheapest way to travel through LA?
dougr replied to coastered's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you stay in Orange County and choose your hotel carefully, you can do Knott's and Disneyland with relatively low pain. Magic Mountain appears to be a major pain to get to. I seem to recall researching this earlier. The actual bus stops pretty close to MM, but it's a pain to get from LA to Santa Clarita. -

Psst! If you exit Knott's from the main entrance, as you head south under Ghost Rider, look to the right-Knott's employment office. There's a Coke machine there that had bottles for $1.50 in 2004! 8) -
When you think about it, Disney's "California Adventure" is supposed to be a California-themed theme park which just happens to be in - California! I guess that's why they ran California Screamin' like that...so you'd have scary stories to tell each other while in line (I heard this one time, this guy...) so you get the true carnival experience! :?

I really didn't like Disneyland's Space Mountain when i rode it back in 1990. It was just dark enough to barely see the headchoppers. It just seemed rough and dangerous, not thrilling. Matterhorn seemed a much better ride.

^^What is that?

See, this where it's great to have your own kid that you HAVE to ride with So does a "Dragon" count as a coaster, because like BTMRR it appears to be a powered train.

My wife forgot to take her visor off on the Corkscrew at the PNE. It flew off on the first hill and hit the guy behind her right in the face. This was on Corkscrew, which according to RCDB, has a top speed of 40 mph. -

I think DCA was meant to be a more "teenager" park, sort of the disney version of state fair/Knott's/Magic Mountain-except with "Disneyfied" rides. I mean, they tamed down Mullholland Madness-aren't Wild Mouse rides supposed to be rough? And yet they still managed to hurt people on Calfornia Screamin'? Maybe they need a REAL woodie AND a Silver Bullet/Tatsu suspended style coaster. Plus a Fireball or Giant Frisbee. Maybe a Twin Flip or Space Shuttle (or a non-lethal Mission Space). Plus they need to bring back the People Mover and use it as a shuttle from the main park to DCA and rework the Monorail track to have a stop at the back of DCA, say right around the coasters... -

It basically is. It's built on all reclaimed land and there isn't really any "outside world" that can be seen from inside the park. It's kind of nice..... --Robb It's more scenic than DLP ever will be! That's just built on flat land. I know, you're driving down the I-5, then on the right there's a mountain-with snow-how very California -

So is it obviously an old cup? I have a Mr. Six-topped cup I picked up at SFGAdv last year (literally - it was lying on the ground beside the Nitro queue) and there's no way it's not going to look out of date next season... And geez, it's finally losing that weird plastic smell... Ewww... -

I feel the same way. I have never been to the area but I know I will go eventually but not sure if I will go to Knott's or not. I really have a bad impression about the place from what I have read from bad operations (like the 1 train empty, 1 train full on Jaguar and many 1 train operation coasters), rude employees like the ones mentioned in this T/R and just a whole negative attitude about the place. When I took my then 9 year old to Disneyland,/DCA, San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and Knott's Berry Farm in 2004-we had one extra day. When I asked her which park-she said "Berry Farm". This year, when we make another trek to Southern California, she (and I) are looking forward to Silver Bullet, Ghost Rider, Montezooma's Revenge and Xcelerator. Yes, I will take her on Boomerang as well We are also looking forward to Magic Mountain as well-following the Tatsu thread, but as for fun for your bucks, especially that $13 kid price, you can't beat Knott's! Here's my Goofy family at another park -
What parks do you plan to visit in 2006?
dougr replied to coasterguy618's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I promised my daughter another visit to SoCal this year (we can only afford about every 2 years). First, we get a season pass at Six Flags "Enchanted" Village. Then: Oaks Park Enchanted Forest Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Knott's Berry Farm Disneyland (and CA) Seaworld Belmont Park San Diego Wild Animal Park (hey, it's got a train) SF Magic Mountain (the REAL reason for the pass) SF Marine World (bonus on the way back) and possibly That awesome looking bumper car place in Seaside Oregon Fun Forest (formerly Gayway) Calaway Park Silverwood and probably Playland/PNE. Those awesome bumper cars in Seaside I'm going to check out this year -

I totally agree. We went to Disneyland the year Splash Mountain opened, didn't even go on it. We did the fastpass thing last year. You wanna wait, get to the park when it opens and head to your fave. 5.5 hours in the sun? Forget it.
