People Mover should be brought back, but reworked to go to Hollywood backlot. Monorail track should be reworked to have a station near Paradise Pier. Skyway should run between Fantasyland and Bug's Life. There should be a wide (wheelchair-friendly) pedestrian overpass between Disneyland and DCA. All passes should be park-hoppers. I agree, there should be an Expedition Sasquatch in DCA AND a Rock and Roll Coaster as well. Maybe a Donner party ride and Red Line Dodge-em near Tower of Terror?

Paramount parks up for sale.
dougr replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This comes as no big surprise. Viacom/CBS has said they want to concentrate more on key operations. Last year, they sold Famous Players theatres to Cineplex Galaxy, which means that one corporation owns about 80% of movie screens around here. Fortunately, the federal government made them sell off a few theatres, so now we get to see how good Empire is. I don't think all this buying and selling is good for the products, but maybe with a good owner, things can improve. Maybe we can get a Digital Projection System WEST OF TORONTO! (Are you listening, Cineplex?) It also would be nice to be able to use my Playland pass say at PGA or Calaway. -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

You can say that again! Wow, I forget how much better a simple coat of paint can help a coaster's look. It's also the 20th anniversary of the Ninja-remember, it started life as the Scream Machine at Expo '86. Looked good in red and white back in the day... -
Where in the world ARE Robb & Elissa? Part II!
dougr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So Laughlin, eh? I had a theory about what happened. Rob and Elissa went to Area 51 and witnessed something they were not meant to see... Rob took a picture and was about to post it when the server had a "power outage". It was horrific, but I found a copy of the picture on another website...if you have a weak stomach, turn away now.... -

Do you scream on roller coasters?
dougr replied to Thrillrider15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Usually I am one of the annoying people being a bit of a jerk, but on Xcellerator, I sure did scream on the launch, the lift, and the drop -
I find that even large parks like Disney you end up repeating stuff after the first day. I like to sample a lot of stuff and if the lines are too long, save it for the next visit years later. Case in point-when I took my girlfriend to Disneyland, we missed Splash Mountain the year it opened because the line was a couple of hours. When I took her (now my wife) and 11 year old child in 2004, we got the fastpass and rode Pirates and Haunted while we were waiting for our window. I guess I'm trying to say-catch the highlights of as many places as you can-but that's my point of view-I usually end up negotiating with my wife!

22 Years old, 6'0. With full or empty train it vibrates more than the Blue Streak and for me, defense or offensive riding doesnt stop me from coming off with very sore ears. It someone has the magic code to riding without hitting your head on at least 4-5 spots, let me know. Otherwise, Ill just take pictures from now on. I think 6 years of torture on that is enough for me. It actually rides better with NO trims too BTW. I also am a wooden coaster fanatic so pain in many forms isnt much of an issue. Infact, I have a pretty high pain tolerance to alot of things. I just dont enjoy a ride that has incredibly smooth design flawed by horrible train design. Restraints reach much too high and the trains vibrate something fierce. I know a lot of rough rides that are OK if you keep your head back against the headrest. But some rides, like the old Corkscrew at Silverwood, that don't work! I know I'm not riding that beast again til the new headrests are in

What do you think is the most Extreme flat ride ?

Screamin' Eagle aka Fireball or Afterburner. Twin Flip spins you every direction you can think of, but it's not really scary, just lots of fun. Fireball aka Afterburner or at the Oaks-Screamin' Eagle! Twin Flip! -

Pictures just don't do the Grand Canyon justice. The narrow camera frame can't show the overwhelming visual enveloping. Here's a panoramic shot I found on the web: http://www.theskyscrapers.org/gallery/slideshow.php/id/2506/slide_article_id/2507 -

We would beg to differ on us being another state. Not too mention that La Ronde is in Quebec which barely even considers itself part of Canada. SFI would be better off to wait a few years on La Ronde. By then the Canadian dollar would be higher then the US dollar and they'd get a better return on their money. Oh c'mon you know Dubya is hot to try and conquer another country. Besides, Snyder has Bush in the palm of his hand. The Redskins just donated 4 million dollars to the Republican party down there in Florida the other day. All Snyder has to do is say "Hey Georgie, ya know that four Mil I just gave ya. I want it back unless you invade Quebec." Guy "If he can create WMD's out of sand in Iraq. Then I'm sure he can find someone harboring Osama in Canada." Koepp You know, the Millenium bombers did make their bombs in Vancouver, BC, but wait-that was thwarted by somebody paying attention in the Clinton era...I'm sure it's the Clenis's fault somehow...

My California holiday
dougr replied to coastered's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This may not be quite what you're looking for, but you can buy a CityPass for Southern California. The new one has a Disney 3 day flexpass, Universal 1 day, San Diego Zoo OR WAP 1 day, and Seaworld 1 day-all for $199. I think Costco may sell them for $169. This may be an option if you find more days-I know the old pass which they don't sell past March 31 this year had Knott's instead of USH. -
