What's your favorite Flat ride?

I agree with KMG Afterburner/Fireball, plus Looping Starship and Twin Flip: Looping Starship! Twin Flip! -
Some things bugged me: 1 The collapse of Tower 7. The Popular Mechanics explaination sounds logical, though.... 2 This: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2001/07/26/national/main303601.shtml 3 And this: http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/10/august6.memo/ 4 And finally something from Project for the New American Century, the think-tank top members of the Bush administration belong to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century

When I was at Silverwood this past summer, I noticed that they were starting to replace the restraints on Corkscrew. (This was the first corkscrew, BTW). So it is possible Picture from http://www.rollercoasteralley.com/ Hopefully, less owy in the future.... -

Maybe some kind of Gold Rush/Bigfoot ride in the Bigfoot Rapids section-Yosemite is a fairly tall mountain, and there was the 1849 gold rush, and the area is called Bigfoot... Speaking of California, any plans to visit us on the Left coast, Soren? -

SFOG & SFOT Photo Gallery Pages UPDATED!

Now to start a flame wars/browser thread- It's a browser thing-instead of building for IE and patching for other browsers, us Mozilla geeks believe web pages should be built to W3C standards, which all compliant browsers can read. If the page is built that way, it ends up being less work, because you don't have to keep patching it for each browser quirk. I checked with the W3C validator, and I got: The validator is at: http://validator.w3.org/ -

That traffic to get across the Bay Bridge totally sucked ass! You don't even know. Oh, we can imagine.... Here's what you get when you search Google images for "bay bridge traffic" -
The first time I rode the 1958 woodie at the PNE, I thought I was going to fall out. I vowed never to go on it again-which lasted about a year and a half. It is now one of my favorites. When I went on Xcelerator in 2004, I screamed like Ned Flanders all the way up-I had this urge to "stop the ride, I want to get off" midway through the launch-but then we were up on our way-way too fast. Then we approached the top hat and began majorly slowing down and I started to think: "Are we going fast enough?" The best rides scare you a little bit. You can work up to a headliner-myself, I'm not even sure I would ride Kinga Ka. But I have been on a ride almost as fast with harder acceleration, so if were in the park, I think you'd see me there eventually Roller coasters are pretty safe. Just make sure you're clamped in properly and DON'T watch Final Destination 3 Here's where you stop thinking "OMFG, that launch was WAAAAY too fast" And start thinking "OMFG did we launch fast enough?"

Day 4 started with the usual breakfast at Ikea. Then we drove in from the southside and decided to visit Starbucks World HQ. They were giving away FREE COFFEE! Turns out it was the nationwide coffee break 10am-12noon, but it was cool. Then it was on to the Seattle Aquarium. No whales here, but it was a very good representation of the wildlife around the area. We got to see a Pacific Northwest Octupus chow down on a Dungeness Crab, saw seahorses and saw some other animals get fed. Then it was on to Pacific Science Center at the base of the Space Needle where I got another photo of the Rainbow Chaser just outside. Inside, we saw some cool stuff including an exhibit on imploding buildings, saw a 3-d IMAX movie "Walking On the Moon", and saw a few large insects.... I'm a GIANT Mantis. Gimme some HUMANS! Tribute to "12th man" (the fans). Me and 3 million Seahawks fans agree the Super Bowl referees should live here See, it's a credit! It was the salmon mousse... Whale Rider! Here you get to see what an octupus would be like Actual Size. I'm an Otter. Give me some FISH! Evil Child: "$1 Hot Choclate!" Evil Wife: "FREE COFFEE!" Here we are at Dr. Evil's World HQ

You know, they could probably set up a system where they send text messages to your cell phone-probably less infrastructure involved in the long run... -
Day 3 we saved a little money by starting from home again. We headed to the Woodland Park Zoo, where highlights included Kookaburas, Emus, Gorillas, a Jaguar and a MASSIVE Brown Bear. (Note: Bear is not shown actual size, it's bigger) A kookabura in an old gum tree. I'm a Jaguar, gimme some MEAT! She's OK, folks. Poor tired gorilla. Gimme some CANDY!!!!! Is there a bear in here? Here's a bear, far away.... I still have all my fingers. Here's an emu

Day 2 we woke up bright and early and headed to Ikea for their $.99 breakfast. Then it was off to the Museum of Flight right at Boeing Field. Then after a delicious lunch at Ivar's Acres of Clams, we had time for an Argosy Harbor cruise. EDIT: She's not ACTUALLY touching that plane, BTW CLOSE_UP! On our harbor tour, I only took one picture-there's sea lions on that marker...here, let me show you... What's your closest coaster?
dougr replied to FishyFish's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd like to say the classic woodie at the PNE, but I think the Kettle Creek mine is a few hundred feet closer... But this one's a few feet closer! I would say this one... -
If you owned your own theme park
dougr replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd start with a Pinfari 42, maybe a Hurricane, a KMG Fireball or Huss Frisbee, a classic (restored) carousel, maybe a twin flip and a looping starship plus a log flume and a few kiddie rides. Then when I could afford it, a launching coaster. I LOVE this little looper! -

Could make a launching coaster into some kind of launching vehicle. Slightly OT, but if DCA is supposed to be a California "experience", shouldn't they have a couple more coasters? Maybe an Expedition Everest rethemed to, say, the Donner party? -
I'm guessing you're going to have to choose between cheap and close/early entry. I haven't been to Cedar Point, but speaking as a Motel 6 fan, there's a motel 6 in Sandusky/Milan about 10 miles away. quote for May 11-13: STANDARD QUEEN BED NON-SMOKING, DESK, 20" TV Click 6 Internet Rate $42.49 USD Standard Rate $49.99 USD
