  1. Matterhorn when I was about 7 or 8. The first woodie- "Coaster" at Playland (PNE). The first inversion "Scream Machine" at Expo '86 (now Ninja at Six Flags St. Louis)
  2. Are you guys gonna check out Stateline/Primm on the way back? Desperado at Buffalo Bill's. Photo from rcdb of course!
  3. See, I keep hearing about these "smooth rides" people keep getting on Manhattan Express. I'm just not buying it! In fact, if some one could show some proof of these smooth rides, I'd LOVE to see it! But what I CAN show you is proof of how rough the ride is. Here is a small clip from the video we took just a couple hours ago. I apologize for the crappy quality, I didn't have my firewire cable with me, so I had to grab the footage via USB, which sucks. But anyway, enjoy this short Manhattan Express clip..... Ouch!
  4. Hmmm...Airport to Disneyland...you're looking at close to an hour there. It might be better to stay in the OC and head straight to Knott's for the early afternoon. Once you get out of Orange County, you leave the rebuilt I-5 with HOV lane (6 lanes each way) and hit the 30 year old road (4 lanes crawling) It's at least an hour from there to Magic Mountain, even with the traffic flowing. The other thing to consider is that the rides at Disney are pretty tame. Saving Magic for last could work out really well for you. Look around at Ralph's Grocery store, sometimes you can save a couple of bucks at Knott's. Here's a traffic jam from 2001. Photo from http://www.westcoastroads.com/california/i-005e_ca.html
  5. Perhaps the increased heart rate mimics excercise? Also, it's not artery-clogging, it's Low-Carb. Perhaps the feeling of escaping death reduces stress?
  6. "Coaster" at Playland in late September. Coaster built in 1958 photo from rcdb
  7. Here's a little coaster that packs quite a punch in a 31 foot loop: Looping Thunder at Oaks Park, Oregon. Photo from rcdb
  8. I heartily agree! I've been on 5 so far, but that should pretty much double this summer.
