  1. I look forward to when it gets up to actual speed. Unless... this is actual speed D:
  2. I really hope they do get it back to running full speed over the lift. Also, it's not quite the same as El Toro's lift. With the latter, you've got that turnaround at the top, so the speed of the lift doesn't really affect how fast it's going down the actual drop. With Skyrush, the lift and the drop are right next to each other so there's much more of a difference. Does that make any sense?
  3. I think Premier is established enough as a launch company that it wouldnt happen. MM will be selling the 2nd train within the year anyway so it wont matter. I don't get it Magic Mountain almost never operate their coasters at full capacity (or even close). So the second train would be unnecessary because it would never get used.
  4. I don't know if anyone has said this already (ain't nobody got time to read through all these posts), but the loop looks pretty small in pictures. I'm guessing it's because it's situated in that valley there and surrounded by trees. The promo material made it seem a lot more imposing that it actually will be. Oh darn.
  5. I was wondering actually, how far you could go into Movietown before you were blocked off? It is connected to Old Country, which is still off access, right? I went in 2011 and forgot to check, but Movietown was absolutely pitiful! It was the two Batman coasters and that was it. The place was deserted as well, Batman was a walk-on. That section needs a serious rehab. I have some pictures I took of the area last October if you're interested. It's cut off past the Batman show entrance, and it's just a bunch of gardens and stuff. It looks kind of nice, but thinking of how bustling it used to be it's pretty sad.
  6. For the love of god they need to put SOMETHING else in the Movie Town area. It's by far the saddest part of the park. Everything past Dark Knight is just a ghost town.
  7. Welp there goes the restraint debate. Also that's a cool design on the backs of the cars. Hooray for optical illusions!
  8. Random Question: What the chances that Vortex will still be around for the 2014 season? I know there was some discussion about a removal rumor a while back, but I'm not sure what's true. I don't think I'll be able to go until next year.
  9. Jeez, how many inversions are in that picture? I count 9, about to be a 10th.
  10. I posted this in the SFMM thread a little while ago, but it was completely ignored in the deluge of YOLOcoaster posts. So I decided to post it in its own thread. Hello TPR! I have a friend who's studying "abroad" in Los Angeles and wants to go to Magic Mountain. He's never been, and I've only been once 14 years ago, so I am deferring to more informed opinions. Basically, what should he do there? What are must-rides, and is there any sort of order he should hit them up and move about the park? And would it be worth it to get a Flash Pass of any sort? Also he'll be in the city until mid-April, and he has no preference for a weekend to go. In his words, "if there's a weekend that minimizes crowd and/or maximizes enjoyment in some way, that's when I want to go." So basically what's the best way to get the Magic Mountain experience in one day for someone who's willing to ride whatever?
  11. Just wondering but can we just call it a Flying Snake Dive? It looks a lot like Storm Runners. I would call it that, but rcdb doesn't seem to think so.
  12. ^^^Makes sense considering the ride's price tag.
  13. Montu at BGA. Also my first 54"-restriction ride. I still have the on-ride photo, because it captures pretty well how awed I was.
  14. My memory is a bit foggy of Hydra's, but it's very interesting. Like an extreme, extreme overbank. But it went by really fast, since it is the first element. But with this one being taken much more slowly and in winged seats, it'll be quite an experience.
  15. As Wes already pointed out, more people have complained about the people complaining than have actually complained. Say that five times fast. Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

  17. The Pier AND the City are sinking!? LOL Unfortunately yes. All the sand and beach underneath structures is slowly being eroded away. Building on barrier islands never works out in the end.
  18. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNkGbTuGHd0
  19. El Toro back in October. I think I might make that a season-end tradition.
  20. When I first glanced at the picture I thought that the shadow from the lift hill was actually more coaster track. But then I realized that I'm an idiot.
  21. Last night I dreamt that GateKeeper was open and I was about to ride it in the first row, but when I was about to board I got a massive nosebleed and had to wait a few cycles for it to stop. But when it was my turn to ride it wasn't a coaster train, but a school bus. So I rode GateKeeper (which traveled through the hills of Scotland rather than edar Point) while inside of a school bus. Then later I was breaking into an alien research facility with my friend to steal fortified wine, but that part doesn't have to do with coasters.
  22. I know it's just concept art, but it sort of looks like the LSM coaster will have Skyrush-style lapbars. Interesting, if true.
  23. Damn, beat me to it! Now which came first, the element or the logo?
