  1. Really enjoyed the video! I've never seen someone use slow motion really in any videos and it really helped capture the emotions of the riders, especially on TTD. Loved it really, hoping you make many more! The TTD launch was by far my favorite part of the video. Love the guy doing the Superman pose. Plus the girl next to him takes about 0.5 seconds to realize keeping her hands up in the front is a silly idea.
  2. Oy, it sure would be a hike from Midway America to the new bit of land there. Hopefully Hershey would have a plan for that. (Also not to repeat myself from earlier, but do group tickets only work on the one day you go or can you use extras later?)
  3. I didn't even know that this was an issue at places. Whenever I get the opportunity I take mine off on the brake run.
  4. Random Group Tickets question: Are you able to use any extra tickets on any day after you purchase them? I remember doing this last year, but I wanted to make sure this wasn't a fluke. I'm trying to get a large enough group to go July 13 to qualify for group sales discount, but only 17 of them have their shiite together. So close!
  5. Massive bump, but this page got linked in a Cracked.com article. Especially noteworthy since the author called us "carnies". Hooray for not doing the research! http://www.cracked.com/article_20477_5-famous-frivolous-lawsuits-that-didnt-actually-happen_p2.html
  6. I don't care how good it would be, I would ride Skatersaurus: The Ride in an instant.
  7. In Antarctica. I thought it was Alaska? We could send people to check both anyway.
  8. I always make sure to get in my rides on Kingda Ka first thing. Even better if you get there at opening, and make sure to jog there before all the other guests figure out how to get over that way.
  9. We were all in the last car of Bart (silver train), so second to last train before it broke down. Well, not including the train sitting on the launch track below us, which was the cause of the breakdown. That must've been a fun 20 minutes.
  10. Thanks for the tip! We'll definitely try to check that out! And when you're in the park, don't forget to go to the Potato Patch. They make all their potatoey products right there, including cheesy bacon fries *drool*
  11. Double post I know, but I just thought of something else. Can anyone tell me what these two things are called? The air was so full of the puffballs the two days it looked like it was snowing. One of them lazily drifted into my mouth as I was talking. Also, the bugs were on pretty much every vertical surface during the morning, then they swarmed around at night and hit everyone in the face on night rides.
  12. Hello all. Went to Cedar Point for the first time in 9 years this past week, and I brought 3 friends with me. I don't really remember enough for a full trip report, but I'll cover some highlights from the two days I was there: *Both days it threatened to rain, but neither day it did. Sunday was pretty windy though, so Dragster and the Skyway were closed until about 2. Everything else ran though both days *Windseeker was closed Sunday but open Monday, so I got that credit in. It's lots of fun. It was cold that morning which kind of added to the element of speed while swinging around. *MaXair was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be! Especially fun were the apexes of each swing, where the rotation kinda made it feel like you were about to fall out of your seat. *Skyhawk wasn't open either day *Shoot The Rapids is theoretically fun, but not on a day when it's windy and nobody wants to get wet. I guess the attendant *was* technically correct when he said it was drier than Snake River Falls. On a related note, $5 for 3 minutes in a drying booth for 4 people is totally worth it. *The Magic Seat on Magnum (1-3), much like The Room, Troll 2, or Birdemic, is just so bad it's good. It was much more enjoyable to sit in 1-2 and listen to my friends' reactions. I greatly preferred the last row of the train; it's a lot of air, but not too much to hurt. *GateKeeper is a lot of fun, and I think it's a great addition to the park. On Sunday it was just "fun", but it was giving some great rides the very next day. I guess the wind was slowing it down a lot? Anyway, I liked it. It was fast but graceful, and each element was interesting. When riding in the back, it was even forceful, especially on the last helix. I would say the front right quadrant was our favorite place to sit on the train. Also, oh my goodness, even if this was the worst ride at the park, it is GORGEOUS to look at *On a semi-related note, while waiting for Maverick, the employee controlling the line into the station was chatting with guests, and openly complaining about GateKeeper. He was saying that the park built it up way too much (I guess true?), that it was such a disappointment (I disagree), and that all the other staff make fun of it too (if he says it it must be true, but why tell guests that? It's not fair to color people's opinions like that, and I found it to be unprofessional). While talking about how disappointing GK was to some guests, this particular employee pointed to Mean Streak and said "I mean, it only goes one mile per hour faster than that." WHAT. ?!?! That is a completely irrelevant and invalid comparison to make. I was so incensed by his line of reasoning a almost called him out on it.*I also went on Maverick for the first time. Once I learned how to ride it (totally GP and gripping the OTSR at the shoulders), it was lots of fun. After our first ride it broke down for about 20 minutes while we were on the brake run. The employee who came out to check on us said there should be a #stuckonmaverick hashtag for all the times this happens. *To complete the trifecta of snarky employees, the announcer at TTD said "We paid $25 million for this ride, bu only got the rights to 20 seconds of this song [TTD's theme song]" *Eff all the haters, I love Millennium Force to death. Every single ride on in was great, plus every single time I got at least some air on all three hills (even moreso in the front). I just love how FAST it is the whole time, and flows through all the elements; not every roller coaster has to have grey-out inducing forces to be considered good, in my opinion. The front seat was easily the highlight of the trip. Until I get another ride on I305 (and one that isn't the day after I get rear-ended on I-95 unlike last time), I'm going to say that Millie is firmly the superior giga of the two I've been on. *FastLane+ is absolutely worth it, especially when I don't get to go to the park that often. In the two days, we went on MF 8 times, GK 6 times, Maverick 4 times, TTD and Magnum 3 times, Raptor and Blue Streak 2 times, once on every other coaster plus a bunch of flats, plus plenty of break times for food and water and such. Not objectively impressive, but I still think we did pretty well for ourselves. We decided there should be a ++ option where you get to pee on everyone waiting in line If anyone cares enough to have any other questions about the trip I'd be happy to answer them!
  13. I just wanted to send in a success story for this thread. I went to Cedar Point for two days this past week with three friends, and I used this thread for food suggestions. We went to Berardi's for breakfast both days (the cinnamon bread was AMAZING), Sortino's, Cameo Pizza, and The Thirsty Pony (one of my friends said the Thirsty Bam burger there was the best burger he ever had). So, the system works! Some suggestions of my own: Kennywood: If you're in the Pittsburgh area, you better get yourself to a PRIMANTI BROS. Their specialty is ginormous sandwiches with all the sides inside two thick slices of Italian bread, with provolone, coleslaw, tomato and french fries inside; only the meat changes (plus you can get double meat if you're especially hungry). I recommend the pastrami, but everything is good. Six Flags Great America: If you're a fan of breakfast, stop at a WALKER BROTHERS PANCAKE HOUSE. They're all in the northern suburbs, so if you're in or near Chicago you'll be near all six of them to get to Great America. They do a really great breakfast, and it's a small touch, but their orange juice is fresh-squeezed, which makes my taste buds very happy. Cedar Point...ish?: Okay, this isn't really near the park, but, if you're going to Cedar Point and home for you is anywhere east of Cleveland, I thoroughly recommend MELT BAR & GRILLED. There are four locations around Cleveland, they're all about an hour's drive from CP, and it's absolutely worth it. They do grilled cheeses like you wouldn't believe, and they're HUGE and DELICIOUS. Two personal favorites are the West Side Monte Cristo (honey ham, smoked turkey, swiss, american, crispy battered & deep fried, mixed berry preserves on the side which go amazingly well with it), and The Dude Abides (homemade meatballs, fried mozzarella cheese sticks, marinara sauce, provolone & romano). Six Flags Great Adventure: This is going to sound kind of dumb, but there's a WAWA on Monmouth Road just as you get off 195, like 2 minutes from the park. For those not in the know, Wawa is a super sweet convenience store with touch screens where you can order sandwiches and other stuff freshly made. Plus if you go there in the morning you can get freshly made breakfast hoagies or ready-made sandwiches. It's pretty inexpensive and the food's pretty tasty. Plus there's a gas station. Plus it's open 24 hours. Plus Wawa is wonderful.
  14. Hello all, heading to the Point for the first time in 9 years with some friends. Here are some stupid questions with probably obvious answers: -What's the best way to get to the beach from the parking lot(s)? Also do I have to worry about rentals such as chairs or umbrellas or anything like that? I've never been on the beach there so I wouldn't know :/ -Where's the place to pick up FastLane+ bracelets? Is it clearly marked within the park (or wherever it may be)? -On a related note, do I need to worry about ride strategy if we have FL+? We'll be there on Sunday and Monday, so hopefully we'll miss the rain (knock on wood).
  15. ^I went the day before you on 5/9, and it looks like they made some decent progress on the Safari station in just one day! Also, Kindga Ka had a rollback on the train right before us, which I don't think I've ever actually seen before. Also we had to wait five minutes each on El Toro and Nitro because people threw up right in the station. Also there was a nice RCT-style puddle of puke on the narrow exit ramp of Batman. But other than that the park was dead and it was a great time!
  16. On this photo on Facebook, someone commented: "Nice to see they're being eco friendly too " Now I might be wrong, and I hope I am, then I think they think the Marmaliser is a machine used to gather up trash or something. If that's really the case, then just... wow...
  17. I've only been on it at Green Lantern, and it's rather mediocre. It's fun two or three times, but after that I've skipped it.
  18. From what I understood the survey was asking about expanding the current kids area, not making a new one.
  19. Received a survey through email about adding attractions to the kids area for the 2014 season. As you can see they give 9 options, ask for three, then ask you to pick your favorite of the 3 and explain why. Interestingly, when I went back to the survey to get this screencap, the options changed up a little bit (when I took it there were no coaster options).
  20. When I followed the layout in the diagram, I only counted 12 inversions. Are the inverted drops counted? Just how "inverted" are they? I figured they would be standard Gerst beyond-vertical drops. Unless there's something new I'm missing.
  21. ...It is? Oh, ok. I guess I'll have to take your word for it. I can't tell at all what's going on here.
  22. Of all things, El Toro when I went in 2008. I hadn't been in '05 and I wasn't really keeping up with park stuff. I remember being completely blown away when I went on it; I had no idea what to expect. I wish I could remember better the first time.
  23. I just don't understand these Merlin publicity stunts (this and the 'Swarm dropped in the water' one). How would this make The Smiler more attractive to ride?
  24. Are those the wheels flying off of the track on the airtime hills? Kickass.
