  1. Also noteworthy because there's actually only one AquaTrax in the world, but you wouldn't know it from the various rumors floating around TPR... Actually, is there any traceable origin of the AquaTrax joke?
  2. That was most certainly a fake skyline. Probably a matte background.
  3. I really hope there wouldn't be any forces on the brake run that would necessitate stronger supports. Also, do you really think that RMC doesn't know what they're doing? They probably planned the hell out of this ride. Gotta make a good first impression (as far as wooden coasters go).
  4. That's quite an O-face there.
  5. You'd die. Horribly. Generally not something a park wants to spring for. EDIT: Actually as I read up on the human body's g-force tolerance, I realize that 26 g, depending on how long it's sustained, might not actually kill you. It would definitely ruin your day.
  6. These rumors keep getting sadder and funnier. Knott's can't catch a break.
  7. The more I read about SoB, the more unbelievably ridiculous and ill-conceived it seems. Good riddance I say.
  8. So an inside top hat that twists into an outside one at the top, then twists back inside as it comes down? Interesting. There's also the inverse of that, where an outside twists into an inside at the top, making it an inversion.
  9. Is there a particular reason Knott's is so profitable compared to the other parks, or is it just because it's located in a heavily populated area?
  10. Why does this rumor keep popping up? I think it would make for a very not-fun ride.
  11. Surprise! A park in China is lax on copyright laws!
  12. Someone in HR is gonna get chewed out for that one.
  13. The demolition needed more explosions. Someone should have called Michael Bay.
  14. The energy required to stop and hold the train up there would have to be massive. Besides, magnetic brakes (whose entire job is to slow down a train) alone cannot stop a train completely. Sounds like you have some cousin-head-smacking to do.
  15. Then again, Cedar Point is by far the biggest cash cow in the chain. There's a pie graph someone posted somewhere recently that shows Cedar Fair's expenditures and returns per park, and Cedar Point is more than a quarter of their revenue. With such a high return of investment, they can afford to build so many huge things in such a short period of time. Kings Dominion? Not so much. But one can dream.
  16. Did they really just make it fall like that?? I... guess they knew what they were doing.
  17. Dear Lord Baby Otter Jesus, as I plan another trip to Great Adventure for 40 college kids this Fright Fest, please give me an empty night, as you did last year, in your infinite wisdom. May you provide a forecast of rain for the entire day, then clear the skies just as we arrive, driving away all from the park and allowing us to ride El Toro seven times in a row. Amen, Baby Otter Jesus.
  18. Let's at least hope they keep the Toaster Oven Tunnel.
  19. If you think about it, every single year there's a 50% chance of getting a major coaster. Either they build one or they don't
  20. OTSRs in some cases are probably also there for liability reasons. I would imagine rides with QDCs would have the potential for pretty bad neck injuries if a rider wasn't prepared for them (aka most people). I'd imagine parks would prefer OTSRs if it reduced the chances of litigation. And let's not forget people who think that inverting rides without OTSRs are dangerous. I've met some. They're real. Some of them were actually quite smart otherwise.
  21. Of course they haven't. A waterslide isn't an XTREME coaster.
  22. Strata Coaster themed to Planet Snoopy. 450-foot tower enclosed in a building shaped like a rocket ship. I've seen the plans. I know. Trust me.
