The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
UrbanLegend replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How unfeasible would a vertical cable lift-hill be? Imagine going straight up at like 15 miles an hour. Sure would scare the hell out of people. -
I don't have a screenshot handy, but there is a still from the promotional video that more or less shows the whole ride. You can see the brake run, and it's in roughly the same position as the old one. If that's the case, the angle coming out of the tunnel is too sharp for the ride to just shoot out into the brake run. So I'm thinking the post-tunnel will include some sort of turnaround, however brief it is. Then again, Six Flags is okay with having a 160-foot drop go straight into the brake run, so who knows.

Skyrush isn't tenured yet. It's like college. Or high school, more like. -

I get to practice my smugface now that El Toro is #1 in two different coaster polls this year, both the real one (Mitch) and the fake one (this). Also, how the hell have I never been on the Phoenix? I'll rectify that shortly. Why is it that the wooden coaster poll is so much more accurate or fair than the steel coaster poll, or pretty much all the other polls? -
Last year at Fright Fest I managed to get incredibly light crowds. Got on every major ride except for KK, which was broken down. Plus two rides on Nitro and SEVEN rides on El Toro, all within six hours. But that was a fluke I think; it was raining on and off all day, then stopped as soon as I reached the park. It's a crapshoot I guess. Bring your lucky rabbit's foot.

Perhaps this has been said already (my eyes sort of glazed over after a dozen pages of comments), but it would have been more thrilling if instead of stopping the train in the tunnel, what if you went through the tunnel un-Lim-ed, rolled back on the top hat, rolled forward through the snake dive, and then launched up through the top hat? People get really freaked out about rollbacks, so it'd be fun. As intriguing as that would be, I also realize that it wouldn't be done: SFMM really wanted that 'most launches' thing, and it probably would take out a block in the ride, among other problems I'm not thinking of. But it could be a neat idea.
