  1. Why do I suddenly hear the sounds of my pancreas and kidney now thanking me... As my ONE ride on it beat me to within an inch of my life. Here's hoping Topper Track will end some of the 'beat the crap out of you' feeling that's making that ride miserable to ride on. Congratulations SFOG. I'm looking forward to seeing you next summer!
  2. Outstanding Super8 there, Shane. If I recall correctly- it wasn't just the Beast that had the PTC 4 bench cars- but also the Texas Cyclone at opening (shortened to three-bench cars, then the Morgan rolling-coffin cars later on). It's interesting to see the Beast before it was 'tamed down' and with the Beast running full-out.
  3. Wuss. Turn it up. 5.5Gs or more, please. SSSShhhhh... Don't tell Busch Gardens Europe that... they might not be able to run Apollo's Chariot.
  4. That, my friend, is SLICK in every way possible. Now call B&M and tell them to get their Swiss/German/French butts in gear and build it!
  5. Only one: Six Flags Over Georgia- for DSB. But it was WELL worth it- and in every possible way. Nothing could have possibly made that one day any better than it already was- and I'm looking forward to DSB again next year!
  6. Gregg, I mean this in the ultimate spirit of brotherhood of coasters, parks and the like... PBBBBBBBTTTTTT!!!!! (Some of us aren't as blessed as YOU are to have them within driving distance...) Either way- WCB 2012 is looking awesome so far... now if there was a little more Schwarzgoodness with it...
  7. Awesome TR: I've wanted to stay there on an Orlando trip, but never had the need to- perhaps now is a good time to look into it.
  8. This was much the case from 1983- Schwarzkopf rides had gone into receivership by this point, but Herr Achterbahn continued to design rides long afterwards. BHS/Zierer along with Maurer Sohne (HMMMmmmmm...). He is credited with these rides- and supervised them carefully, leading to their flawless performance. It is hoped that Gerstlauer, which is now building Schwarzkopf trains, will allow these great portable coasters to continue scaring people for many years to come! The shorter trains could also be due to velocity differences: the longer trains, while weighing more and carrying more people, also tend to traverse elements at a slower pace. With the colder weather, the shorter trains will maintain velocity/speed through the elements better- and thus eliminate the potential for a stall/stop situation. R.D. "I have a very special love affair with anything Schwarzkopf."
  9. From my research into H.G. Travers (And via Robert Cartmell's fantastic book, "The Incredible Scream Machine") The Jazz railway was more intended to be a ride through with elements more than a coaster. It did feature some of the elements that Travers built into his coasters (Notably the Safety Cyclone series) but itself wasn't more than a ride through. You might want to see if you can locate a copy of Dr. Cartmell's book. HG Traver is covered in a greater depth there, and features some references to the special effects of this ride.
  10. You suck! Ahem... I beat that: 6400 RR points= round trip from PHX-LAX/BUR
  11. That's it. I'm moving to Germany. Now. Perhaps yesterday... Being able to get one of the Crown Jewels as my fix everyday, run as it SHOULD be... screw the cold. I'm leaving now. (Nice PTR too.... and you'd better belive I'm jealous as all hades.) R.D.
  12. All of the sudden I want to build a park in RCT II that has a monorail attached to it.... D'OH! Breweries, for whatever reason, are some of the greatest places to visit- I miss the old AB tour at The Old Country (YES, it was called that!) and the smell of cooking hops, barley and other such wafting around the park on a warm day. I'll have to look this up when I head to MKE next year- as it looks like a great day of fun.
  13. I've got mixed emotions on this: While the idea is a great one- and something 'different' for the exchange, my concern is there would be, in the end, only four parks going INTO the exchange at the end of the showdown. The goal I tend to set for a TPR Challenge (And the upcoming TPR Track Challenge) is to get people to upload/download from the exchange- and to increase posts of parks and tracks, etc. The last TPR challenge had a total of 8 uploads, and nearly 70 downloads- which is movement across that area. My goal is usually to get at least 12-15 entries, plus at least 100 downloads, of a given park. If there was a way to increase the number of uploads and downloads for it, then I'd be for it- But that's got to be a critical factor in the success of it: Traffic across the exchange. The other thing is that December will be a good month to ring in some movement to the exchange/boards as well: If you could run it in January, for example, I'd be for that as well. December we're going to gain traffic as kids get bored off of the holidays/dealing with the relatives, etc. and I've been thinking of having CPM do a 'Cyber-Monday' track sale (up the points for a week) to boost traffic, as well as the first TPR Track Challenge (Picture the TPR challenge- but with tracks... themed to a particular time: Winter Wonderland, for example). The TPR Track challenge is currently set to drop on 19 December; the 'Cyber Monday' bonus will start on 12 December. Let me know what you think- I'm not opposed to the idea, and I think that it would be worth it- but if we could gain additional uploads/downloads it would be much better for the exchange: For example- Each of the 20 contestants would have to submit a ride to the exchange along the way; Developing a way to get people to upload things. The other thing I'd say is a MUST for it is no CS (Yes, I can hear the WHY??? now...) but if it's going to be something to push the exchange forward, then everybody should have access to it- not just those with the CS kits installed. I've had issues with CS uploads/downloads before- and I'd not like to repeat that for our regular guests. R.D.
  14. Awesome... But not enough food action! (One needs plenty of food porn if there isn't enough ride porn!)
  15. "OH ANTON! MAKE ME SCREAM LIKE I'M ON BANSHEE!!!!!!'
  16. Ummmm..... Let's see: SkyRush (DUH!) Returning to SFoG for more 'special time' with MindBender Heading to Knotts for more 'special time' with Monte Heading back to HersheyPark for some 'special time' with sooperdooperLooper, and her new trains... And... Seeing more of the weirdos, freaks and nerds that make up TPR- in all their glory! R.D.
  17. I'm thankful for my friends, TPR, Handicapped access to rides and... Wait for it... My beloved Anton Schwarzkopf... and his rides!
  18. One has to wonder if this is the first location for that kick-ass new coaster from GCI...
  19. Major kudos go to AJ for putting up the voting- due to a minor defect in your moderator here, my disk is being Fed-Ex'd here- THANK HIM! He did a great job with this! R.D. GFMT
  20. Thanks AJ- Appreciated... as the Starter disk I've got for RCTII is on it's way from San Francisco as we speak... New rule: Don't leave disks behind at the BF's house on travel. R.D.
  21. I thought it was because you're a ginger...
  22. DING- we have a winner! Final round in five minutes, folks!
  23. R.D. Doesn't do water. At all. Refine that question. Too vague. Nope. Not from mondial. No- not from S&S either... Besides: R.D. Doesn't fall, either.
