http://Disney Cruise Ship Makes Historic Journey Through New Panana Locks April 29, 2017 (4 p.m. EDT) -- Disney Wonder today became the first passenger vessel to sail through the Panama Canal's new expanded locks, the first of 18 cruise ships scheduled to make the journey during the 2017-2018 season. The transit represents a major milestone: The expanded locks, which opened in 2016, allow larger vessels to make take the journey; the older lock system is smaller, and many modern cruise ships can't fit through. "The original Panama Canal has been a cruise destination for many years," Panama Canal Deputy Administrator Manuel Benitez said in a press release. "Today’s historic transit marks the beginning of cruise lines being able to include the new locks as part of their itineraries, opening up additional transit options and allowing cruise passengers to witness first-hand this feat of modern engineering." Indeed, the Panama Canal is a popular cruising itinerary, with a short season that runs in late spring and again in early fall. Passengers often sail from a West Coast port, such as San Diego or San Francisco, through the Canal to a Florida port, or vice versa. Disney Wonder is traveling west, on a cruise that began in Port Canaveral and will finish in San Diego, where it will ultimately reposition and begin the Alaska cruise season. Disney Wonder is 984 feet long and 32 meters wide. Other cruise lines also have larger ships that will make the Panama Canal transit for the first time this year, including Caribbean Princess, which is wider than the maximum allowed through the old locks. It will is scheduled to make the transit this fall. The expanded Canal locks are 70 feet wider and 18 feet deeper than the locks in the original Canal. --By Colleen McDaniel, Senior Executive Editor

I honestly think if all of the rock work was removed, a ton more space for future attractions would open up! As much as I love the rock work, it hasn't been the same since Rim Runner and the waterfalls have been removed. I will say however, the park is much cooler and way less humid with the water ride gone! -

I miss Over the Edge that used to be at MGM Grand Adventures Theme Park here in Las Vegas, as well as Grand Canyon Rapids, I felt that those rapids were some of the best themed water attractions and that it was way ahead of its time! -

They have recently cleared out the lower reservoir from the Rim Runner and a lot more of the trough. They cleared up a decent amount of space. Time will only tell what will happen if they do anything with the mountain and the lift hill and pre-drop trough of the Rim Runner. -
When brakes bite hard
Mr Stratosphere replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
On the rare occasion that Canyon Blaster at The Adventuredome is running two trains when it is extremely busy, just hope that you are not on a train that stacks behind the station, it comes hauling in to a sudden stop at the transfer brakes! Luckily their operations are great there and they rarely stack. -

Weird Coaster Facts
Mr Stratosphere replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The now defunct High Roller at the Stratosphere Tower was also known as the "Let it Ride" High Roller. S&MC manufactured the coaster while Premier Rides designed it. S&MC only manufactured four coasters, only two of which are still operating today. -

This is super fascinating! Thanks for sharing! It's amazing what the human race can do when we set our minds to it! Robb, how would you describe the sound from the rocket as I am sure the video doesn't do it justice? -

Here is a few of the things I have in my office: The wheel on the left is from Manhattan Express at NYNY, the center wheel is from Viper at SFMM, the wheel on the right is from Canyon Blaster at the Adventuredome. The small wheel in the front is from Ghostrider at Knott's and the cable is from Montezooma's Revenge at Knotts. -
