  1. ^^ LMAO! Similar to me, I am terrified of Ferris wheels, however the swinging gondolas on Mickey's Fun Wheel are fine. I really do not like the stationary goldolas. And Windseeker doesn't bother me at all.
  2. Guests used to complain that the ride was just too wet and some riders complained about knee injuries in the font row due to the impact at the bottom. The splashdown isn't too long and boats to this day still come around the final corner with some speed. For a while they had one boat called the "Soak Boat" but that didn't last too long.
  3. Today is the first day that the park opened after a 4 day shut down for park maintenance. I was first greeted with a sign stating that the Rim Runner was closed, but the park was a bit humid, so I knew the water was flowing for the ride. I first decided to take a spin on the Canyon Blaster, one of the trains was set off to rehab and all that was on the transfer table was the nose of one of the trains. I noticed that Canyon Blaster now sports a new logo, the old logo had the mountains and the new logo is of the rides corkscrew, foreshadowing the demise of the mountain range in the dome? Also some painting and TLC is being done to Canyon Blaster. For those of you who have ridden Canyon Blaster know that the last portion of the ride ends inside the mountain and is usually pitch black in there. Well today it was completely lit and I have never been on the ride while this was lit. I am quite surprised how tight the clearance is inside there! Upon riding a few times, you can tell there is some work going on inside the mountain near the Rim Runner's Support Structure. I had noticed that Rim Runner opened and had a group of riders cycle through, then the ride closed for technical difficulties. They began cycling empty boats for a bit and then the ride opened. I got permission to snap some photos and they are posted below. Hearing mumbles and grumbles on a timeline, but nothing is confirmed. But multiple employees are stating that the ride will be leaving very very soon. So I will keep up on that and I will be sure to snap photos and post updates about the Adventuredome! I am looking forward to following the upcoming changes here. Well enough words, enjoy the photos! Sorry if the quality is low on some of the photos. These are all iPhone 4s photos. Canyon Blaster's old logo, it is the largest one I could find. Canyon Blaster's new logo, notice the mountains are missing? An old worn brake for the Canyon Blaster A new shiny brake! New hotness! Upon entering the park, I was greeted with this sign. Borrowed Time? The ride had just opened and had quite a bit of people in line. The dome was very quiet today The splashdown Shortly after the ride opened, it closed for technical difficulties Empty empty empty Shortly after the ride reopened There were running both boats, Yellow and Red, the third boat was scrapped a couple of years ago I remember when both the front and back rows were open and staying dry was not an option Getting ready to depart on one of, if not my last ride on Rim Runner The ride starts with a nice peaceful ride through the dome As you meander through the dome, you see Chaos to your left, long ago, dinosaurs were here and spit water at riders. The final turn before the lift is the deepest part of the water as this is the main reservoir for the attraction To the left before the lift is a crane where they add or remove boats from the circuit, there is no normal transfer table on the ride The conveyor before attaching to the chain lift Long ago, the eyes used to blink and they would play sounds on the journey up Nearing the top of the lift The small dip after the lift, this area used to be filled with very dense fog The rock above used to rock back and forth, there used to be so much detail on this ride with an amazing theme. At the top you get very close to Canyon Blaster Nearing the one and only drop, the ride is very slow at this point creeping ever slowly towards the conveyor This view is very deceptive Heading down the drop, you get a nice bit of floater air here And I will finish off this update with my favorite photo of the night, thanks for reading!
  4. Here you go, look under the S&S Section. www.parkworld-online.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/2405/Ride_Manufacturer_Update.html
  5. Since the Adventuredome is closed 1/14 to 1/17 I will be sure to stop by this weekend to see if anything has changed. If so I will be sure to post photos!
  6. Well in Vegas, it has been below freezing quite a bit this week and here is photographic proof below. The World Famous Caesars Palace Fountains - Frozen.
  7. You mean no random hailstorm in the middle of the day like in 2010? We were on Ninja when that happened and boy did that hurt!
  8. ^ Especially in the Summer. Like I said, so much space is taken up by the mountain range, a lot of space will free up if they remove them all together. Much of the ride is not level with the main floor of the park. I would love to see some new flats added!
  9. I am totally down for both days! Now that my job has me on weekends off, I can plan things much better! Excited that things are changed up a bit and it is during a different time of year! Thanks guys!!
  10. Hey everyone!! I decided to take a quick walk around the Adventuredome and to take a look at Rim Runner. If the rumors are true and the ride is slated for removal. Take a look at how much space will really be opened up here. Basically the supports for the ride are encased around all of the park's rock work. So imagine all of the rock work gone and visualize how much space is opened up for future expansion. Time will tell what this year has in store for the dome! Also from the S&S site stating that an El Loco has been ordered for Vegas makes the rumors a more realistic reality! There is so much potential here, some of the photos also show off Canyon Blasters new / refreshed paint job! They are about 50% done with that painting while the park is closed in the evening. I apologize for some of the photos being lower quality, the dome is a hard place to take photos in at night. There doesn't seem to be any work going on with the ride itself, but should anything change, I will be sure to post it here and keep everyone updated. Behind this wall is the maintenance and storage facility for the boats. Behind this wall is the maintenance and storage facility for the boats. The lift and the supports for the lift are behind all of this rock work. Looking towards the infamous Miner Mike credit, also think of all of the weight that will be removed from the structure with the water being gone. The ride really does take up the most space in the park. The splash down, look how much space this area takes up. I do like all of the rock work, but I would love to see some additions and upgrades here! I love the paint job on Canyon Blaster! And finishing off with a comparison on ride photo. The one of the left is from when I rode opening year and the one on the right is from last year.
  11. This is totally awesome! If successful I would love to see this happen at many other parks! It totally reminds me of cruising, your Royal Caribbean boarding pass is your room key, charge card, etc. I love that I can leave my belongings locked in my room's safe. Excited to see this in action!
  12. I'm at the park today as well and the park is pretty dead after the rain. Longest waits are on Tatsu and X2 both being about 45 minutes in length. Everything. Else is pretty much a walk on. Drop of doom has been 5 minutes most of the day.
  13. The adult Disneyland, Las Vegas. Also when I went skydiving Primm and Buffalo Bill's was completely visible from the air. This is from 7,000ft, and the skydive was from 15,000ft. Here is Primm (The Desperado) from 7,000ft
  14. Not really the best "aerial" photo of the park, but look how much real estate removing Rim Runner will open up for the park. And imagine if they remove the faux mountain range how much more room will be opened up. You have the lift hill, storage & maintenance areas, the drop, and splashdown pool. I have high hopes for this!
  15. Seriously, every thing that they have been doing to Knott's lately makes me love this park more and more. The last time I went the park was so clean and the attention to detail (flowers, fountains, cleanliness, etc.) was great! I cannot wait to get to the park tomorrow.
  16. Since my first park of 2013 will be Knott's Berry Farm this Friday, I am hoping to make it Xcelerator if not Montezooma's Revenge!! Doing a crazy trip the first weekend of 2013. 1/4 - 1/7 Friday 1/4: Knott's Berry Farm / Cirque du Soleil's IRIS in Hollywood Saturday 1/5: Disneyland Resort, DL / DCA Sunday 1/6: Six Flags Magic Mountain Monday 1/7: Universal Studios Hollywood Starting 2013 with a bang!
  17. Correct, still sitting there out in the elements, and the elements are taking its toll on the paint. Unfortunately the observation wheel across from Mandalay Bay seems to have slowed down / run out of money. Construction has seemed to have stopped on that project, which has me concerned about plans for Speed: The Ride. Hopefully something happens soon!
  18. I have to say High Roller at the Stratosphere, not the best ride, scariest or anything like that. It was just unique being perched up so high off of the ground. Had amazing views to say the least.
  19. I enjoy the coaster expeditions because it reminds me of the "Cruise in Review" videos that Royal Caribbean produces. They show the human side of TPR and how much fun all of the trips are and all of the crazy antics that can and do happen. Yes RAW showcases the roller coasters, but Coaster Expedition shows the parks and the culture and themes the parks have. Either or, no matter what you guys do, its appreciated!!
  20. ^^ Super glad to hear! Now people should stop giving everyone flack as we are all entitled to our own opinions, but reading your post makes me solidify my decision in remaining Loyal to Royal!
  21. Canyon Blaster at Adventuredome (Then Grand Slam Canyon)
  22. It is truly incredible what mother nature is capable of. One thing to remember a tragedy like this can happen anywhere. May it be earthquake, fire, flood, tornado etc.
  23. Today it was announced today that Wet 'N' Wild is coming back to Vegas! It is in the same location that "Splash Canyon" was going to be located. Also noted that it is the same concept artwork now just attached to the Wet 'N' Wild Brand https://www.facebook.com/WetnWildLasVegas From the Las Vegas Sun. Representatives of Australian entertainment giant Village Roadshow announced during a media event today that it is renaming the Splash Canyon Water Park in Summerlin as Wet 'n Wild Las Vegas. The water park was supposed to open this Memorial Day, but the opening was pushed back a year so developers could add amenities to the project. The more than $50 million park will feature 25 slides — including North America's first Rattler slide — a wave pool, lazy river, water playground and toddler pool, as well as a seven-story speed slide and head-first mat racer. More than 41 acres of land for the attraction will be leased from the Howard Hughes Corp. Investors include Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf; Dr. Steven and Karen Thomas, of the Thomas and Mack family; and Roger and Scott Bulloch, of SPB Capital Partners. The park will be managed by Village Roadshow, which operates Wet 'n Wild water parks in Arizona and Hawaii. The company also is developing a Wet 'n Wild in Sydney, Australia, set to open in December 2013. "We are very excited to bring this amazing new water park to the perfect city that is Las Vegas," Tim Fisher, Village Roadshow CEO, said in a statement. "The park will feature some of the world's most incredible slides and will offer an experience unlike anything Las Vegas residents and visitors have ever seen before." "Wet 'n Wild Las Vegas has the potential to entertain more than 650,000 guests annually," Fisher added. Locals and tourists have long bemoaned that Las Vegas has no full-scale water park. Wet ’n Wild shut down in 2004 after nearly 20 years in operation along the Strip near the now-defunct Sahara. Although developers have floated proposals for a replacement, no projects have come to fruition. Most notably, in 2006, a former Disney and Universal Studios executive announced plans for Las Vegas Wet, a $10 billion combination indoor water park, ski slope, casino and hotel. It was supposed to open on Las Vegas Boulevard south of Interstate 215, but the idea burst along with the economy. Today’s announcement is in progress, and more details will be added to this story as they become available. www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/oct/04/wet-n-wild-water-park-returning-las-vegas/
  24. The only one that had a better view (without water) was the High Roller at Stratosphere. Oh who am I kidding, those views are spectacular!!!
  25. This is extremely exciting news! Cannot wait!
