I sure am glad to see SkyScreamer rebuilt, though only using one of the launch towers, but still great to see the ride back in action. It has very little use while at MGM. It was the first sky coaster I ever rode. I really do miss MGM Grand Adventures! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I wish Adventuredome would have purchased Speed: The Ride, have the ride outside, but the station, queue etc. inside the dome. Would have been perfect!

Me too! It has been a blast coming by to see this transformation, I still wish Adventuredome would have scooped up Speed: The Ride, would have been perfect to have the ride outside, but the station inside the dome! -

Here is a look at the brake run / transfer table. Look in the background and you can no see light emitting from the hole that used to be Rim Runner's drop. -

Hi everyone! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here is a little quick update from the park today. I'm positing this from Canyon Blaster's station. (Which is running extremely well!) A lot has been done on the dismantling of Rim Runner which is amazing because the park is open every day! All of the work has been going on during the after hours. The station has been gutted of all ride hardware, all that remains is the trough and the station queuing. The trough after the station has been half removed for easy access to remove debris. The entire splashdown pool is almost completely gone and cleared for the footprint of El Loco. The rest of the ride is intact. All hardware for the lift, and the drop is still on the ride. As well as the lift chain. They are predominantly focusing on the splash down pool. All of the mountains are currently still here. The final helix of Canyon Blaster used to be completely shrouded in darkness but with the drop of Rim Runner gone, you can now see light inside and see some great head choppers! Fairly quiet day here as I am sure everyone is recovering from last nights festivities in Vegas! On to the photos, have a great day everyone! The station and first portion of the trough. This looked very different just a few weeks ago! The back end of the station. What is left of the splashdown pool. A peek through the fence. -
^ haha well Klassy Karnival keeps DREAMing to be LEGENDary! When I cruised with Royal Carribean on Liberty of The Seas in 2007, the Carnival Dream was supposed to depart before us but was having engine problems, we heard it got stranded for about 12 hours after she finally set sail. She returned back to Miami some 14 hours late the last day of the cruise. People were not too pleased when they returned to Miami, I wonder how many times this has been happening to Carnival and it just didn't hit the media waves.

I plan on doing a photo update this weekend on the progression of Rim Runner's dismantling, all that I can report is that two of the three boats are no longer sitting out back, the three colored boats are all that remain. The two white boats are no where to be found, I assume they have been disposed of as they looked to be in rough shape. All that is left is the Yellow, Blue and Red boats. -

I got Runaway Brain Mickey, I can always look down and he has always had a worse day than me. My Artist loved him as he never saw one quite like this. It took 9.5 Hours in one sitting. I was sore for about a week! I have had it for over a year now.

So now that the Carnival Triumph is now undergoing repairs, what kind of work does it take to get it back into service? Does it have to go back through sea trials and re-commissioning? I just find it a bit intriguing to the process, and what the first voyage back would be like. Not that I would be sailing with Carnival, totally Loyal to Royal!

Top Roller Coaster Myths & Rumors!
Mr Stratosphere replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There was a rumor with the High Roller that used to be at the Stratosphere that a wheel came off of the train and crashed through a window in the restaurant. Crazy as how this is impossible based on the shape of the tower and that the restaurant is 6 floors below where the coaster used to be. -

Thinking of this, I really enjoy the formal nights on Royal Caribbean, it is fun to fill like a million bucks and feel like living in luxury! That being said, I also have a few friends that swear to Carnival but have never been on a Royal Caribbean cruise. So after listening to a lot of the interviews on the news about the Carnival Triumph, there will always be people who want to see what they can get out of a situation (sue) and the other people who brush it off and say "Things Happen" and would probably be ready to go right back on the cruise the next day.

Hey everyone here's a quick update from The Adventuredome today. Work continues on the dismantling of Rim Runner. A lot of the debris in the splashdown pool have been removed since last week. The station's entrance and exits have been fenced off. Demolition of the trough looks to be beginning at the start of the ride right after the station. So the first of the rock work has met it's demise. Elsewhere in the park, Canyon Blaster's second train is back on the track in the transfer table and looks better than ever. Cannot snap a clear photo of it since its tucked aside. The ride is running phenomenally well! The rest of the park is getting paint touched up everywhere, most if not all of the railings and queue railings have been reprinted and look great. I love the TLC this park is getting! Short update today, hope you all like these! The treads from the conveyor belts have been removed from the station A lot of the debris in the splashdown have been removed since last week The ride's exit has now been fenced off. The first of the rock work has met it's demise but this is next to the trough right after the station. So this removal makes sense. Work continuing in the station. Rim Runner's station has now been fenced off as well. This is the area that the rock work has been removed. In the "Passage of Time" area of the park. -

I do not think capacity will be an issue here, the employees that work on the rides are very good at keeping lines moving. Come to the park when they are running two trains on Canyon Blaster, we are talking 27-33 second dispatches. -

If you have noticed anything added to Adventuredome has the stock name of the ride, Chaos, Inverter, Disk-O, Sling Shot, Frog Hopper, El Loco. Also I will always call the "Roller Coaster" "Manhattan Express" even some of the signs around still say the original name. Especially the big neon sign in the casino. Even another neat fact, Big Shot at the Stratosphere was going to be called Space Shot until the name was changed at the last minute before the tower opened. And even more ironic, the new Observation Wheel being built behind Harrah's is named "High Roller" which was the name of the now defunct roller coaster that was on top of the Stratosphere. -

More information regarding the ride from MGM Resorts International: El Loco, designed by S&S Worldwide, Inc., will have riders dropping, turning and twisting in some unique ways. The ride includes a 70-foot ascension before plunging over and backwards in a 95 degree motion and delivering a negative 1.5 “vertical-G.” Guests will be sent on a 45-degree outwardly banked turn, a greater-than-straight-down diving drop, and a 180-degree turn that races over the edge into a barrel roll. (In case you wondered, this all sounds like a pretty typical day at momentum World HQ.) The new, 75-second yellow and black ride features open design cars that will make the four riders feel like they are flying along the 1,300 feet of track. The other four El Loco roller coasters are in Indiana, France, Australia, U.K. and China. Riders will have to be at least 48 inches tall to go on El Loco, which joins The Adventuredome’s 25 other rides and attractions spread throughout five acres. -
What's your closest coaster?

Mine is Canyon Blaster at the Adventuredome, about 100ft closer to me than the infamous Miner Mike credit! -

I am not sure, I am having a hard time finding anything other than the one at the Adventuredome. I can tell you that the one at the Adventuredome operates normally with little downtime. It is one of my favorite flats and I always have a good time on it, so I am glad it is still at the park! -

Quick photo update from the park today 2/8/2013. I am currently typing this update on my iPhone while on the park. Keep in mind the ride has only been closed for 5 days. Just by walking in you can feel the difference and the park is less humid. The drop is gone, they are not wasting any time on this, I'm really surprised on how much was done in 4 days! The lift remains as does all the rock work at this time. Enough writing as its hard to do on the phone. Enjoy the photos! Dumpsters lined up for all that scrap metal! The drop is gone! What 4 days of the park being closed can do! Crazy to know I just rode this on Sunday! This is the first time I ever remember seeing the ride without any water.
