  1. I would have to say both at MGM Grand Adventures both Deep Earth Exploration and The Backlot River Tour. I'd like to see how they compare to Disney or Universal now that I have a better eye on those things!
  2. I honestly think you got lucky, I just rode the ride last week and it was downright brutal. You must have gotten on a train that just got out of rehab, because they will run "nicely" for about a week then as Robb would put it they "sound like trashcans rolling down a hill." Glad you got a decent ride on it, but ride again in a week and let me know what you think lol!
  3. Also compare the prices to Stratosphere. Stratosphere is $18 just to get up into the building. Big Shot is $15 (Plus $18 to get into the tower) and the ride is seriously only about 37 seconds in duration TOWER TICKETS Adult - $18.00 Groups/Parties Over 20 - $10.00 RIDE TICKETS Big Shot - $15.00 X-Scream - $15.00 Insanity - $15.00 SkyJump - $109.99 and up EXTREME VALUE PACKAGES* Tower Admission + All Day Unlimited Rides - $34 Tower Admission + 3 Rides - $33 Tower Admission + 2 Rides - $28 Tower Admission +1 ride - $23 Express Pass - additional $10.00 In all honesty, Adventuredome didn't change the price of the junior pass, only the adult wristband which went up $2.00 And the pass will pay for itself with three rides. Granted the same for Stratosphere, but if you didn't want to do the rides, I feel that $18 is a bit steep especially when the Eiffel Tower Experience is $11.50 (daytime) and $16.50 (evening) and its in the middle of the Strip. It is still cheaper than Stratosphere, and people have to get to the Strat. I just feel they aren't competitively priced.
  4. Also here is the current pricing for the park, a great deal! I also see that El Loco will have a 48" height requirement, the same as Canyon Blaster!
  5. Hi everyone! A very quick update from the park today. They made a ton of progress on El Loco in the last two days. There are only about two to three more track sections left in the main "Arena" of the ride. Just the bottom of the first drop. The lift hill's chain has been installed as well as the transfer track to the maintenance area. All that is left to install is the bottom of the first drop, the second block brake and the final dive into the brake run. Enjoy the photos! The chain has been installed. Looks like it may indeed be a nice pop of air here! The transfer track has been installed. Scaffolding is up as they prepare to install the second block brake. Possibly a nice pop of air here?
  6. I'm not certain it's hard to see exactly what it will do but I believe from the look of the supports it looks like another outward banked turn above the bridge.
  7. I count only 11 more track pieces to be installed!
  8. Hey everyone! Stopped by the park to shoot a quick update. It's been raining the last 4 days in Vegas and the advantage of having an indoor park is construction isn't hampered by weather! The lift hill for El loco is now in place with the lift motor and chain on site for installation. I hope you are all having a nice weekend and enjoy the photos! More parts sitting outside in staging. Probably the only time these parts will see rain. The first friction brakes I've seen on site. A peek into the station. The final brake run now has support under it. The bottom of the lift and maintenance track. The lift is now complete. The chain. Twisty goodness! Lift hill motor and chain awaiting installation.
  9. Hi everyone! Update from the Adventuredome today! Lots of progress on El Loco the past week. The lift appears to be half way completed with only the bottom of the first drop, bottom of the twist and dive and the transfer track left to be installed until the main "arena" of track installation is complete. The lift appears to be about the same height if not shorter than Canyon Blaster's lift but remember El Loco will indeed have a larger drop. Enjoy the photos! Oh and thanks to the Minions for helping to build an awesome coaster for us all! Thank you Minion for helping build an awesome coaster!
  10. This looks like it is going to be an awesome "near miss" to the pillar!!
  11. They wrapped the maze with a Batman theme.
  12. Hi everyone! A quick update from the park today! More track has been installed for El Loco and they added a new Batman overlay on the park's laser maze.
  13. ^ Absolutely! It's been a blast covering this construction from the last day Rim Runner ran.
  14. Hey everyone! Update for today, a lot more of the support structure is now in place as is the MCBR. Looks like there is a lot of focus on the electrical systems installation at this time. Enjoy the photos! Cant wait to see the finished ride, the supports are very interesting. I love that transition! Looking up at the MCBR Quite the interesting structure to get the ride into this small space. First look at the MCBR The spur maintenance line and a piece of track waiting to be installed in the background. More drive wheels have been installed.
  15. I really like that Sea Walk on the Royal Princess with the glass floor. Looks like it would be a great place to just hang out and look over the horizon.
  16. Here is a photo that was posted by the Linq
  17. Just a heads up, I will try and take photos, but the first observation pod for the High Roller Observation wheel was installed last night and it is currently sitting on top of the wheel. Very Interesting!
  18. It is funny now that this is now hitting the news. The only thing that was affected on our journey was shortened calls in ports. But it didn't affect our trip at all. Was still a blast! http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/news/2013/11/05/royal-caribbean-allure-propulsion-problem/3443421/ Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, is experiencing a problem with a propulsion unit that is forcing it to operate at slower-than-normal speeds. The mechanical issue with one of the 225,282-ton vessel's three propulsion "pods" has resulted in shortened calls in ports during its past two Eastern Caribbean sailings. In an email to USA TODAY, Royal Caribbean spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez suggested the problem is relatively minor, saying the pod in question remains functional but not at 100%. "Allure of the Seas currently has a small restriction on her top speed," Martinez says. "All equipment is fully operational, and there is no impact on the maneuverability of the ship or on the safety of our guests and crew." Martinez says Allure of the Seas has shortened its stays in Nassau, Bahamas and Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas on Eastern Caribbean sailings due to the issue, but there have been no changes to the ship's Western Caribbean itinerary. There's no word yet on how or how soon the problem will be resolved. "We are currently exploring various options that would fix the problem," Martinez says. "The plan is to get Allure back up to top speed. At this time, we have not made sweeping changes to upcoming itineraries." Allure of the Seas is just the latest in a string of cruise ships that have experienced problems with pod propulsion units since they first began appearing on cruise vessels in the 1990s. Just three months ago, Celebrity Cruises' 2,138-passenger Celebrity Millennium experienced a pod malfunction that resulted in the cancellation of several voyages. Pod propulsion systems are more efficient than conventional propulsion systems but can be more difficult to repair at sea. In the case of the Celebrity Millennium, the ship eventually was taken out of service for several weeks in late August and September to undergo repairs in a dry dock. Unveiled in 2010, Allure of the Seas can carry more than 6,000 passengers and has a crew of more than 2,000 people. The ship is one of two Oasis Class vessels at the line that jointly hold the record for world's largest cruise ship.
  19. From the looks of it, it looks like there may be some really good head choppers on this ride!
  20. Also not too much left outside in the staging area!
  21. Hey everyone! A quick update from today as today is the last day the park is open until next Friday. Excited to see how much work they can get done in the next 4 days! The track comes very close to the park's floor here. This view looked very different just a few months ago! The spur/maintenance track has been installed. Hello Mr. Brake Fin! Looking from the Passage of Time into the station. The ride can now be seen from across the park! Looking into the station. Drive wheels have been installed. Footers have dried, will see the rest of the finale of the ride installed soon. Looking at the old Rim Runner Station
  22. A very quick update from tonight. One of the outward banked turns is now in place. Been a lot of fun so far following this construction project. I have a feeling a lot of vertical work will take place this upcoming week while the park is closed for a few days.
  23. Just sail on Carnival, your odds would be better....
  24. Hey everyone! I stumbled on an old ad for Dome of Doom, well before Fright Dome and when Adventuredome was still known as Grand Slam Canyon! JUST LOOK AT THOSE PRICES!!! So cheap compared to today's standards!!
  25. Good afternoon everyone! Here's an update from today at the park. Construction is trucking right along. And only two nights left of Fright Dome and the park being closed part of next week. We may see some great progress as even with the park open they have been doing a lot of work in the off hours. Enjoy! Some hardware being installed in the station. Looking from the old Rim Runner splash bridge El Loco is clearly visible from the main entrance of the park now!
