  1. I find it hard to believe that they'd put theming or anything else close enough for the train to "tear up". They aren't complete amatuers. Not only would that be a major design flaw, but it would be an unsafe one. They would have caught something like this already, especially since people are riding it. Wouldn't surprise me if they screwed something else up though. I know they were having a lot of problems getting the yeti to work.
  2. It's only because they had no choice. I mean who were they going to blame this time? The theme park gods?
  3. You already have to be 44 inches to ride Mission:Space, which is about a 7 year old, if I remember right. --Robb Or a 4-year-old.... Height restrictions can't always be relied upon. I don't think the medics were ever not in question. This was being talked about when it first occured. I don't think they're trying to prolong the subject's coverage by mentioning their poor handling of the situation. I do find it amusing that they cite it as one of WDW's most popular attractions. It's been a ghost ride every single day I've been to Epcot since it opened, but especially since this death. It would be unlucky if you have to wait at all.
  4. I hate those things, personally. It's cramped, and one of my arms is always wedged up against something to the point that I can't move it. My vote for best vehicle goes to Spider-Man.
  5. Our version needs all the refurbing it can get.
  6. Hate the architecture (of both this and DCA). And the storyline for that matter. But I'm sure the ride will have a bunch of bells an whistles that the others lack, if only because it's in TDS.
  7. Yes, but forced perspective wouldn't explain how a 112 foot drop is more than halfway down the mountain.
  8. Are you sure thats 112 feet? It doesn't look like it. But if it is, then that mountain is a whole hell of a lot taller than 200 feet, which I've suspected for awhile now.
  9. I'd imagine the first "advanced" Disney park was Epcot.
  10. This doesn't bother me one bit. Pleasure Island is quite lame. A generic assortment of crappy nightclubs that are completely Disney-ized and anyone can get into? Ehh.... It's time to leave the nightlife business to downtown and Universal. They don't try to force family friendliness onto a concept that isn't meant to be family friendly. And they actually attract more than their own CM's. Although I do hope they have more in mind as a replacement than just a gaggle of restaurants and nothing else. I can only eat so much. And I'm also sort of hoping they focus on creating original themed restaurants of their own and they don't get their hands on anymore good chain restaurants that aren't already in Orlando. Because once something goes into DD, it can't be replicated anywhere else around town.
  11. They've been in a "content" phase for 6 years. And considering that the park just looks worse instead of better, I'm certainly not content. They can freshen up the park and add a major attraction at the same time.
  12. I have a bad feeling that the driving machines will be the one and only new attraction for 2006. The park will need more than that.
  13. IOA is overrated.... but still better than any other park I can name. Definitely needs new rides in the worst way though. I really don't see the point of that stand and think it'll just clog things up on crowded days. Nobody wants refreshments or merchandise in the friggin' parking hub. They can get that stuff in CityWalk.
  14. (Watches USH video) God, and I thought ours was short.
  15. Yeah, the contest started at about 11:15. It was hosted by Beetlejuice. The final three contestants were a female pirate, a demon woman and a group of guys that danced around. The guys got the biggest applause, but the pirate won. None of their costumes were all that original. I'm shocked that the devil woman even qualified, as her costume seriously broke one of the rules. I'm not sure why she spent 90% of her time on stage bending over, since you could already see half her ass when she was simply standing up. :? Photos of the contest can be seen here: http://ioacentral.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8179&whichpage=3
  16. So, like the big HHN fan that I am, I ventured to Universal on Halloween night to bid farewell to this year's installment. But it wasn't just any ordinary night at HHN. Universal did something special for us crazed fans that I won't soon forget. You see, if you go to the HHN website and click on the book, and then click on the Terra Throne icon, you'll notice the logo with numbers on it. These numbers were special dates where guests had to figure out puzzles on the site and then go to the event to reap their reward by finding the "Dark Master", a mysterious cloaked figure hidden somewhere in the park (the location changed every night). At first, he simply gave out beads. But on 3 specific dates towards the end of the event, they gave out three cryptic clues that would later lead a select few to a special prize on the final night of the event. Last night, I found out what that prize was. As the end of HHN 15 neared, a small group of people started to form outside of Confiscos near the front of the park. These were the select few that had won the Dark Master's game. One by one, these people were asked to give a password. Upon giving a valid password, they were then allowed to pass through a gate located at the back of the restaurant. This gate leads to a special, secret area above known as the Navigators Club. Waiting for us were none other than members of Universal Creative, the people responsible for creating all the horrorific imagery you see at the park every October. During this private party of sorts, were were treated to drinks and treats while we picked the brains of these masters of the macabre, giving us an insider's look at the creative process of the event. Layed out on tables throughout the room were various concept booklets, which were made up of detailed sketches, drawings and layouts of various houses, scarezones and even the Bill & Ted set. In one corner of the room was a real life model of the bookcase seen on the website, filled with prop books and the various artifacts of the different realms, exactly as it exists on the site. It made for an interesting photo opportunity, to say the least. The Navigators Club features an outside balcony where we were able to watch that night's costume contest from above, which was fun. But that's not all! My jaw almost hit the floor as we were each handed hooded black robes and told to put them on. It looked like a mini Star Wars convention for a second there. We soon found out that we would be a part of the event's Closing Ceremony. We left the Navigators Club in single file, hoods over our faces, and creeped our way to the ominous Terra Throne, the crowd parting for us as we passed. Once inside the gate, the one that separates the guests from the scareactors, we spread to the sides and awaited the arrival of our Queen. She calmly trotted to her fiery throne on foot instead of her usual bike entrance. She said her final goodbyes to the dark temptresses (some tongue action was involved) and her loyal servant Eelmouth, and was then ceremoniously lowered into the dark depths of her throne like all the sacrifices before her. The last season of the queen had come to an end. And it kicked ass. A big shout out to Universal for being so grateful of their fans and putting together something so special and interactive for us.
  17. They could, but they probably aren't. The area where the Nick Studios building is and the large area behind MiB are ripe for expansion. However, the fact that they replaced Kong instead of building Mummy from scratch in one of these other areas (would cost more) leads me to believe that they aren't willing to do anything major with USF right now. As much as I hate to see Kong go, having Mummy replace E.T. definitely wasn't the answer either. It would have made even less sense to place Mummy in that area (the kids zone) than where it currently resides in NY.
  18. That bathroom would make me really dizzy. I feel sorry for the janitors there... As much as I love IOA, I'm really hoping HHN goes back to Universal next year. I found this year to be pretty mediocre, and I think it's definitely time to go old school.
  19. The chicken's fashion sense disturbs me very much. Someone put him out of his misery. He could probably supply a local Chick-fil-A for a whole year!
  20. Was that sarcasm or an actual question? If it was sarcasm, ignore the rest of this post. If it was an actual question.... Dark rides, boat rides, log flume rides, river raft rides, simulators, themed drop rides, jeep rides, shoot-em'-up dark rides, car rides, sky bucket rides, people movers, non-looping coasters, monorails, 3-D attractions... and then there's the hybrid rides... Donkeys are okay, I guess.
  21. Hollyweird? You knew it was a major (corporate) theme park before you spent that $50. That's your own fault. Personally, I don't see the appeal of small parks at all. But that might be because the elite chain parks are the home parks I grew up with, and anything else feels completely obsolete. Especially since I'm not a fan of coasters or carnival-style flat rides.
  22. Ouch... you're giving it a 1 just because it's short? All the houses in that location have been short due to the size of the restaurant. I thought Skool was a huge improvement over the previous two (especially FF, one of the worst houses ever), so I'd hate to see how you'd rate them. It seems like people either love or hate the Skool. There's no inbetween for some reason. I think you're referring to the Satan at the end of Cantina. You should have watched B&T. Best one in years. And some of the girl's in that show put HOS's nurses to shame.
  23. It still seems random. Especially since he's usually in Hollywood. They should put him in the KidZone.
  24. I only got to ride the Skyway once. It was during the anniversary. I got up close and personal with that big, ugly cake...
