  1. If they aren't going to give ours the same treatment anytime soon, they might as well bring out the wrecking balls now.
  2. Did I just see someone compare IOA to a Six Flags? I'm dumbfounded right now. I'll take a world class theme park experience over oodles of unthemed coasters and flat rides anyday. That goes for every park IOA has been compared to, including CP. I'm a firm believer that amusement parks should be compared to amusement parks, and theme parks should be compared to theme parks. Giving IOA poor grades because it only has 3 coasters simply makes no sense whatsoever. How many does the Magic Kingdom have? Do those same people despise that park? I also think it should be pointed out that you don't really need to understand the specifics of a ride's theming to enjoy the ride. That's just an excuse not to like it. How many people have seen the movie Splash Mountain is based on? Exactly. I've never watched a single Spider-Man cartoon or read the comics, and I enjoy the ride immensely. If it bothers you that much, simply read up on the characters at Marvel's site. It's not that hard.
  3. I'm going to miss than Chinese stuff.
  4. Did you mean Disneyland property? It's impossible for nobody to die on WDW property, considering they built a town where people actually live (God knows why) on their property. But when it comes to guests, of course, they're only "unresponsive" until they are removed from the park itself.... then they're dead. The kid that died after riding Mission: Space was *officially* pronounced dead at Celebration hospital, but several witnesses will tell you otherwise.
  5. It was for both reasons. But they can't possibly be trying to capitalize on this situation considering this lawsuit was filed a long time ago. It is just now coming to light due to this incident. So there goes that theory.
  6. That was incredibly stupid. Of course it's not all about me. I never said it was. A kid died the other day, or were you not paying attention? This ride also sent someone I know to the hospital, along with others. The fact that I don't like it is the least of it's problems. So don't even start that crap. You love the ride. You want to have it's babies. We know. But when the company that built the friggin' thing sues Disney for not letting them make sure it's safe for the public before it opened, there's a problem here. And gee, I wonder why were just now hearing about it? Hmm, makes you think.
  7. I don't recall saying Disney is evil. But Mission: Space is.
  8. I just have a simple theoretical question: What will those of you who are pretty much gauranteeing he had a pre-existing condition think if it turns out he didn't? So far, they haven't been able to find a reason for his death. So what then? I mean, were talking about a 4-year-old here. His body was far from fully developed, and it makes you wonder how much thought they really put into this technology and the effects it would have on small children (among others) who just happen to meet the height requirement. I think it's a very real possibility that this attraction is simply dangerous for many people. And I don't just mean those with common health concerns. I have no known health conditions, felt perfectly fine prior to riding this attraction (and rode RnRC multiple times earlier in the day), yet I had serious trouble breathing for the duration of this ride once the G's kicked in. It was pushing down on my chest the entire time. I was unbearably sick for 3 hours. Keep in mind I have NEVER felt this way due to any other theme park attraction in my entire life, including roller coasters that pull more G's than this thing supposedly does. Which, right off the bat, must mean this thing is more dangerous than most roller coasters. Of course, many of you had no problem. But I simply don't think this attraction is safe for everyone who qualifies to ride it by being a measly 44 inches tall and free of obvious health concerns. If it turns out he didn't have anything wrong with him, this will be an example. He met the only requirement. I question the existance of technology used to train astronauts in a Disney theme park. This is the last ride I would be making that kind of gaurantee for. We can only wait and see.
  9. I think it's rediculous for anyone to sit there and simply blurt out that the parents are idiots. This is DISNEY were talking about here. The casual tourists (read: most tourists) who don't inform themselves about the parks like we do before going, are not expecting anything like M:S from Disney. Yeah, it has warnings, but what ride doesn't these days? It's my belief that Disney shouldn't be creating these kinds of intense attractions in the first place. Walt would be rolling in his grave.
  10. So I guess this anniversary would be a great time to install a carnival grade spin & puke in Disneyland. Lut's put it right in front of the castle and paint it all types of tacky colors with lots of blinking lights. That'll pull people in. I mean, 50 years is a long time. They can't be all about the experience forever, right? Your arguement has more holes than swiss cheese. The major theme parks have always been about the full experience, and they always will be. It doesn't get old for those of us who actually appreciate the full experience, which you apparently don't. These major theme parks are not about to degrade themselves just to satisfy the cheap thrill crowd. You seem to misunderstand IOA completely. Yes, the majority of the rides there are thrill rides, but it is so much more than a run-of-the-mill thrill park where coasters & unthemed, prehistoric flat rides in open fields rule the day, and it's not going to compete with those shallow thrill parks because it's not trying to. It is not going to compete with "traditional" amusement parks because it is not trying to. IOA is a major theme park, trying to compete with the other major theme parks (In case you didn't know, we have seven of them in one market. They couldn't care less about Magic Mountain on the other side of the country). Like I said, Six Flags is about 6 hours north. Have fun. Nobody is being defensive, or taking anything to heart. Were letting you know how completely ludicrous your comments and assessment of the park, and theme parks in general, really are. Cypress Gardens must be stealing all the crowds from Disney & Universal with that there big swing.
  11. And this is why I'm extremely grateful that nobody on this site runs a major theme park, and probably never will. "Do away" with part of the Studios, the resort's main gate? Combine the parks, even though they couldn't possibly have less in common thematically? Flat rides? Is this Universal or a traveling carnival? Next, one of you will recommend a rocket coaster in the Magic Kingdom. An unthemed one, no less. This is Florida. Six Flags is in that state north of us.
  12. Weather? Be afraid, be very afraid.
  13. OR it could just be an updated Thunder Mountain meets the Matterhorn...
  14. Okay! We get it. Who wants to sit on the steam donkey's ass?
  15. There is enough open space for another dark ride next to Cat in the Hat. It's slighty bigger than the land Cat sits on. If they build the type of calm, family ride you're referring to, it could go there.
  16. Of course Mummy has better thrills than Spider-Man. It's a coaster. But I don't know anyone who considers the overall visual experience nearly as good. How is IOA lacking coasters? IOA is NOT meant to be a coaster park along the lines of CP or BGT. Three major coasters is a lot for a non-coaster based park, so it certainly isn't lacking them. They were put there simply to pull in an audience that they know Disney won't get. That doesn't mean they are the focus of the park, because they aren't. The exquisite theming and overall experience is. IOA has 3 coasters, 3 water rides, but only 1 major dark ride. I would much rather see them add on to the park's dark ride legacy that was started with Spider-Man, than to see the park devolve into just another coaster park. Many people who haven't been there yet have actually already made the assumption that it's just another coaster park, and they are turned off by it. I find myself correcting people on a daily basis at Disney boards, etc, who think the park has nothing but coasters. Basically, if you like coasters, enjoy the ones they have. But don't expect the park to be turned into Coaster World. That's not what it's about.
  17. I'm not a coaster person. I believe IOA needs another groundbreaking dark ride that will rival Spider-Man, to smooth out the big Summer crowds inbetween the two attractions. I actually don't want to see a new major attraction built unless they're completely sure it'll meet IOA's standards. As good as Mummy is, it was a serious letdown because they overhyped it so much.
  18. Can all you dudes, like, stop saying dude? I feel like I'm in a Bill & Ted movie.
  19. Tchoup Chop blows away any other resort restaurant (both Universal and Disney). It's better than Mythos. I like the peanut butter cake the best for dessert.
  20. You what the what?
  21. I wouldn't even acknowledge Clay Aiken's existance.
  22. I just wanna know one thing... when are they holding Hetero Days? Equal rights, people. Equal rights.
  23. Dueling Dragons - Simply the best queue theming I've ever seen. Bring comfortable shoes. ROTM - I really like the Egyptian tomb theming, and with the interactive air gun pranks, it reminds me of HHN, which I love. ToT - Sets the mood very well. The greenery in the garden is very convincing and they did a good job of making everything look decayed. Poseidon's Fury - Sadly, the queue is probably better than the show now. E.T. - I just love the smell. Worst queue - Space Mountain. It makes me queezy before I even get on the ride. It's eeeevil.
