  1. Great pictures, and Merry Christmas! My parents are both from HK, so I have some cultural theories regarding HKDL's Main Street and castle...though I really do wish that a bigger castle was made! Please don't be offended...I'm speaking from experience and in general terms! Change. The Chinese populations in CA are VERY high, especially when compared to FL, Paris, and Japan. So HK people tend to not have been exposed to the larger castles. The Chinese culture is all about OLD traditions and therefore lack of change, and they tend to be stubborn about it. Money. Frankly, Chinese people are cheap! (The park is owned mostly by the HK government) Extravagance. HK people are minimalistic. Everything is in small portions, there is no Costco, and even taking food home from a restaurant is seen as shameful. A large castle may have very well given the park a negative image, especially when it's the people's money at work!
  2. yeah, sorry about the zoom! and regarding your other point...cause my girlfriend was RAVING about that nemo every trip! we finally got it...everyone thinks it's really cute, so it's sort of an inside thing i guess
  3. hey everyone! i'm fairly new to this site, but my girlfriend and i recently made some trips to the disneyland resort and i thought i would share a short video with you all. this is my first attempt at making a video so i apologize in advance if the camerawork/editing is poor...i'm practicing for my maiden disneyworld trip in a little over 2 weeks! anyway, the video can be found at: http://www.runtimeerror.net/Disneyland/dlr.mpg if you're planning on going to disneyland in the near future, i do not suggest that you download the following video, as it is MUCH better realized in person. it's a full video of the new "Remember, Dreams Come True" fireworks show, downloadable at: http://www.runtimeerror.net/Disneyland/remember.mpg enjoy! -Brian
  4. Chewie is a shih-tzu/maltese mix, and yeah, your cat could probably steamroll him
  5. hey all! i recently got a new puppy since my previous dog passed a few months ago anyway, here he is: http://www.runtimeerror.net/puppy/chewie1.jpg http://www.runtimeerror.net/puppy/chewie2.jpg his name is chewie because he looks like chewbaca and of course, like all puppies, bites/chews every damn thing in sight! he's like 1 pound and looks a lot bigger than he really is in the pics. and about the pics, sorry that they are crappy, but it's the best i could do at the time. oh, and i might put up a POV puppy video soon
  6. hehe thanks for the suggestions...and that's the thing! i originally wanted to visit IOA/USF as well but it didn't fit into my budget...unless there are some great deals out there that i just can't find :?
  7. if you can, go near the end of september as most schools in southern california would have started already. i went during that time last year and the park was practically empty.
  8. yaay thanks everyone! the trip will most likely happen...just have to get through a few final exams now. speaking of which, this site has been tremendously successful in keeping me away from studying
  9. if that's the case, you will love goliath! i was in the same situation as you when i first went to SFMM. the rides can be intimidating at first but i was lucky enough to have friends to force me on every ride. now i can't get enough but like others have said, the helixes of goliath are known to cause blackout. also, the more you ride it in succession, the worse it gets.
  10. thanks for the info, but oh no! that doesn't sound very good i've been looking forward to making a trip down there for about 8 (eight!) years now and i finally have the time and money. if it will still be sunny, that's a plus, since i'd like to take back some nice pics with me. the burning question is...would you still recommend that i go? and on that note, are there any suggestions on hotels? i can only afford up to the moderate ones
  11. hello all. i'm planning on going to WDW this summer but i can only go between aug 10 - mid-september...i know it may not be the best time to go, but it's the only time i have. i'm especially curious about the weather during that time of the year, which may make or break the trip. any advice (about the trip or recommendations in general) would be appreciated! thanks!
  12. Hey! I are a engineer and i talk perfectly good Anyway, I'm not quite sure why everyone has been talking about engineering, which by the way, unless you have some desire to chop 20 years off your life, don't do it . benzo said he's interested in design, which is typically separate from other phases of R&D. From my experience, typical product cycles are like this: 1). Design - the original vision [benzo goes here] 2). Feasability - this is where engineers come in and rip the design into 5% of what it used to be...lazy bastards 3). Implementation - creation of the final product...design team gets even more pissed 4). Testing - [blame engineers here] 5). Release - [get good lawyers here] I would say anyone wanting to work purely with design is pretty sheltered from engineering (and vice-versa), but it may be difficult to find a job. You will essentially be pitching ideas that will cost millions to implement with no solid guarantee that there will be any returns. And as with all jobs that seem appealing at first, be aware of all the little things that show up to bite you in the ass.
