  1. I really hope that this is a coaster rather than a tower ride, but that is just me. I think this attraction is almost guaranteed to be Mack but Astrodan whereabouts did you here this rumour? Is it rumoured to be drop tower or windseeker type tower?
  2. Eamania your English is pretty good and understandable. QueerRudie I typed in R C Pro without the spaces and it comes up with RCPro... Weird right? As I said earlier I didn't really like Poseidon I found it rough and I couldn't see one being really tall. I don't think it will be an Intamin spinner, because it won't be tall enough to match the description, I am still thinking it will be a Intamin woody.
  3. ^ Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, according to Screamscape this rumour has come from RCPro. I wouldn't want a really tall water coaster, I found Poseidon to be rough and hurt my legs, also Eamania mentioned airtime, on a water coaster... really? I have never been to Mirabilandia, but do they have the space to build something big? Eamania mentioned it will have many airtime [hills], could anyone who has been seen something like my suggestion fitting in. In order to have tallest wood coaster they would have to build one above 218' which is in Intamin's reach and only a bit taller than iSpeed or Katun. Sounds like they will have a great 1,2,3 coaster lineup. I think I shall follow this one rigorously.
  4. Italy 2012 sounds awesome, but all depends on cost and when etc. I'm guessing Gardaland, Mirabilandia and Rainbow Magicland would all be included. I'll start the ball rolling: Tallest wooden coaster, I would love to see the first wooden giga; Intamin prefab of course! 2011 just seems so c**p now if you just look at the list of huge 2012 roller coasters that just keeps on growing: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Dollywood Hersheypark Mirabilandia SeaWorld San Diego Thorpe Park Goes along with my theory that all the parks are blowing their money before the actual end of the world.
  5. Source: RCDB Source: Screamscape A.J. I think you might be right about Verbolten being a launched ESC, the track looks similar, the full back support seating look really similar and the articulated (one row per car) trains. I am worried however that it won't open on opening day, the event building looks like it might have three "events", a vertical freefall, a vertical lift and a launch, that is a lot to get right, especially for a smallish manufacturer I mean they normally make Tivolis. When Thirteen at Alton Towers opened it was full of problems and that was manufactured by Intamin!
  6. I am 6'4" myself and I have never had a problem with my height on any coaster just so long as I keep my hands down so OTSRs don't dig into my shoulders. On the weight front however newer coasters do tend to be more accommodating to a wider range of body shapes and sizes and especially in the USA with many theme parks now offering special seats to accommodate larger people. As Robb said in a TR to Grona Lund about the new Twister: "If you can't fit get on a treadmill". My advice for the larger people is avoid European parks to avoid humiliation, they tend to be very fat unfriendly (Silver Star at Europa Park and Raptor at Gardaland to name two). You are also correct in saying lapbar only rides are much more accommodating; Maurer Soehne X Car Coasters, Mack Launch/Mega Coasters and Gravitykraft Timberliners all boast to be more fitting to a larger range of people. Hope this helps, RollerCoasterSmith
  7. I think this is hands down the most beautiful thing in an amusement park I have ever seen, in fact I may even go so far as to say it is the most beautiful man made thing I have seen. Great trip report...
  8. Didn't Alan Schilke from Rocky Mountain Coasters say that the technology could be built into a new ride... All I want to see now is a collaboration between Rocky Mountain Coasters and Gravity Group or GCI, that would be absolutely epic.
  9. N.B. I never said it was going to be multi looper, I am just saying I think it will have inversion(s). I think it would be really cool to have an Intamin airtime machine with an intense inline twist (like the one on blue fire Megacoaster at Europa Park). To back up Alpengeistfan1's point: Roller Coaster at New York, New York Hotel & Casino Viper at Six Flags Magic Mountain Dragon Mountain at Marineland Theme Park
  10. Badewannen-Fahrt zum Jungbrunnen at Erlebnispark Tripsdrill...
  11. WooHoo they responded to my question. I cannot see the first blacked out bit saying no inversions or similar, the rest of the sentence would not make sense. Also what is "the most ... of all time. Ever." Can we now pretty much guarantee this thing will have inversions:
  12. I think SheiKra, even though I have been on neither. Sheikra was the first "new generation" dive machine (90 degree drop, inversions and splashdown). SheiKra, in my opinion, has the better theming, it screams Africa to me, Griffon doesn't scream Europe or France. Finally SheiKra is a cooler name than Griffon.
  13. I have only been on three: 1. Nemesis (Alton Towers) 2. Nemesis Inferno (Thorpe Park) 3. Batman The Ride (Six Flags Magic Mountain)
  14. I would recommend riding in contact lenses (if you have them). I used to ride a few years back without glasses (and I am blind as a bat), you can't really experience the full effect of the coaster, Goliath at SFMM didn't scare me because I couldn't see. I know contacts are quite expensive but they are much cheaper than losing your glasses...
  15. Just found this at CoasterForce (just in case you are interested):
  16. Alton Towers Beastie Black Hole Corkscrew American Adventure Buffalo Stampede Runaway Train Missile Twin Looper Drayton Manor Klondike Gold Mine Super Dragon Myrtle Beach Pavillion Mad Mouse Pleasure Beach Space Invader 2 Six Flags Magic Mountain Psyclone Stratosphere Tower High Roller
  17. ^^ Robb (& Craig), they have actually rebranded themselves as just Pleasure Beach (minus the Blackpool). It is a way of making themselves seem more modern, fresh and appealing. Blackpool has a bad reputation of being grim and scummy in the UK (just look at the sea, it is brown!). I love the way Blackpool... sorry... Pleasure Beach is really cleaning up their act. 18. Orphan Rocker Gotham City Gauntlet Escape from Arkham Asylum Prowler Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit Steel Hawg
  19. Please could you stick a picture up. QueerRudie I would just like to say thank you for proving me right!
  20. Just received this picture... 5,500 sounds like track length to me.
  21. I got 11... for some reason I have a suspiscion Robb knows a fair bit about this coaster... All the passes seem to have gone to TPR peeps. One of the clues (the banner) is on TPR and I don't think he has posted on this thread for a long time... Anyone else agree with me?
  22. I have just received this from RIOT: Has anyone else received this or am I 1 in 12. What three questions shall I ask?
  23. Same I wasn't bitching. I just think after Mitch Hawker poll I have come to expect so much more from an Intamin. I was just saying I hope this isn't the final speed, it looks a lot slower than the simulation. People thought that Raptor would be totally awesome but reviews came out OK. Still I can't wait to ride either of them (definitely riding Raptor in Summer), they both look beautiful coasters.
  24. I do have to agree with you Gerstlauer1... I really hate to judge, but I have lost pretty much all excitement for this coaster now. If this is the final speed, it does sort of prove the family thrill aspect of coaster. I think I have to agree with other TPR Members it is a well themed, newer version of California Screamin'. It kills me to think I am judging but it now just looks meh.
  25. Well since I am a Billy Brit I hope we could see some of this treatment over here. I think The Big Dipper at Blackpool should get a topper track, and then maybe it will stop derailing. Even though I haven't ridden it I think the retracking should go to Megafobia at Oakwood. They haven't had any new attractions for five years, the only thing is renaming Hydro to Drenched. It is only a win win for them. They get a "new" attraction and they improve an already (apparently) brilliant attraction. I love the idea of Colossus being retracked. I rode it five years ago and I thought it was brilliant (I was ten), but looking back at pictures and videos of it now it does look quite boring. I can just imagine racing through overbanks...
