  3. I have no idea what it will be, still hoping for a Giga Intamin Prefab. I'm sure it will be awesome regardless if it is going to be the tallest of its time plus lots of airtime: S&S 4D - awesome Intamin Giga - awesome B&M Dive Machine - awesome Intamin Vertical Lift - awesome Intamin Wood - awesome Gerstlauer Eurofighter - awesome In the name vote, I voted iDive, if it is going into water I think Dive has to be prominent, I also think Vertigine sounds like a Morroccan dish! Speaking of Eurofighters; remember to check out the aptly named Eurofighter at Zoosafari Fasanolandia for Italy 2012 .It is like Rage but after the barrel roll it does an S Curve back to the station rather than a helix. Also I rode Raptor a few weeks ago and I thought it was good: It is smooth, the layout is innovative for a B&M and the theming is seriously good, BUT, the seats bounce alot, the restraints were really tight on me (and I'm skinny) and trims!

  5. I hope Mammoth at Holiday World fails miserably... Kill it and get a roller coaster!
  6. I'm going to place my gentleman's bet on a Giga Intamin Prefab (like El Toro, not that you need telling). I have wanted to see a giga wood coaster, and looking at the pictures it seems fairly likely that it will be an Intamin Prefab, I think it looks very similar; El Toro under construction: Project 2012 under construction: WOOOD!!!
  7. Any haters need to see the floorless as a bonus. The amount of times I have seen the GP (e.g. on B&Ms) sit in the middle because it is "safer". Now they can sit in the middle and have a floor, leaving the scarier and probably better positions for the coaster enthusiats... WIN WIN WIN! Also the trains look familiar:
  8. The queue for Ben 10 is all indoors. It is really well themed for a British park (I mean it is no Disney). It is a really good addition to the park.
  9. The Alton Towers woodie. I would have loved to see this. It was going to be in the valley and have a 200 foot drop or something like that.
  10. I went to Drayton Manor yesterday and had a great time and there were hardly any queues whatsoever, I think the longest I waited was for Ben 10: Ultimate Mission which was for about 10 minutes. Ben 10 is a really good ride for what it is, it hasn't been overhyped like some other rides COUGHTHIRTEENCOUGH. Both rides felt quite similar in some respects: sharp turns, small moments of airtime and a backwards section. It is much better in the front though, the back is quite dull. Drayton Manor has really cleaned up their act with Thomas Land and a few rides being refurbed. It was a really awesome day. I did see for the first time someone ask the ride op whether the Buffalo Mountain Coaster has loops, his response was: "It hasn't done so in 24 years, but it does do flat loops!" The boys were confused and wimpered off. I ran straight over to Apocalypse, which was a walk on for all five sides. It doesn't look like much from the bottom, but it is different at the top, and it sure delivers fear. Ben 10 train. I thought the ride was smooth, but the restraint dug into my legs. The funky spike looks cool but doesn't really deliver. Here is a view of Ben 10 from the ferris wheel, you can get a good idea of the layout. They had alot of lime green merchandising throughout the park, it tasted disgusting. This is an Elissa friendly spinning ride. It spun really slowly. Also it used to tilt, but not anymore. Plus it is Intamin! This is a really good kiddie coaster. It is smooth and chucks you around a bit at the end. Troublesome Trucks artsy shot. New Zamperla junior regatta under construction. Skloosh... Storm Force 10 is a decent water ride and is nicely themed. Artsy shot of Maelstrom, this ran insane today. I never remember being thrown around so much! The totally awesome (in my opinion) but messed up G Force. Good to see it is ACEr friendly. Three words: Best Inversion Ever. The new blue trains were smoother and sexier. But the train is shorter and they only run one. Not good for busy days. I saw about five escorted men in suits around the park. I don't know what they were doing. I decided to follow them after remembering a rumour about a Mack launched coaster. And they came to this site where Black Revolver used to be. This was later on in the day. I don't know what it is. Any ideas?
  11. Thank you so much for your advice matteocrepaldi, it is a real life saver since we only have a limited time in the park since we probably are going to see a show in the evening. Will definitelty follow all of your advice. Thank you, RollerCoasterSmith
  12. Hello, I am planning to hit Gardaland in late July this year with two friends. How busy will it be at roughly this time? I am currently planning to hit these rides (in the following order): Raptor Blue Tornado Ikarus Fuga Da Atlantide Mammut Space Vertigo Top Spin Ortobruco Tour Magic Mountain Sequoia Adventure Is there anything else we should check out? Should we bring our own food or buy in park? Finally should we buy the Gardaland Adrenaline Express? I'll post a trip report after I have been. Cheers, RollerCoasterSmith
  13. Hey DubaiDave, Firstly, I am also planning on hitting the park on 1st July. It all really depends what you want. I mean have you been there before? Anyway I go there quite regularly and always hit the same route: work from the back of the park and come to the front (it is actually quite a linear park with the lake), do not get tempted to do Maelstrom/G Force first. I would do the park in this order: Ben 10 (new coaster + low capacity = long lines) Apocalypse (ride all sides: stand up, stand up floorless and sitting) Pandemonium (even if the queue looks long it has quite a high capacity so is only ever a one or two ride wait) Buffalo Mountain Coaster (CHACHING, well if you count powered coasters) Bounty (really awesome pirate ship, actually swings pretty high) Maelstrom (another awesome ride) G Force (don't pull lap bars all the way down, leave about one inch so it doesn't crush you) Storm Force 10 (really good for cooling off and good value) Shockwave (is quite rough, but the zero g is the best inversion of all time IMO and be cautious of the brakes) Troublesome Trucks (Thomas Town becomes quite quiet later on in the day) Once you have done this you are free to roam. As has been said before it really isn't busy during term time and most attractions are walk on. One final bit of advice is take your own food, for example one small slice of pizza is £5 and it isn't that great quality either. Hope this helps, RollerCoasterSmith
  14. Quote from Les Coogan's wall on Facebook: Could this be the extension of the story, that the Raptor got out? I am just thinking about the Nemesis/Nemesis Inferno continuation. Could SW7 at Alton Towers be a further continuation of the Raptor/LC12 story? What are your thoughts? .......................................................................................................................................................... EDIT: Just spotted this on the map, the priest looks like he is performing an exorcism on the island of LC12: They really are making this build up viral!
  15. I think the track track colour might be red: - The colours of the RIT website are blue (supports) and red (track???) - Golden rod is too obvious and I highly doubt the track would be this colour. - Colours can be represented in many different ways. Golden rod in fractions is R = 0.85, G = 0.65 and B = 0.13. The clue was goldenRod85. R is in capitals meaning red and I don't think the 85 and 0.85 are a coincidence! I can imagine the colour scheme being something like Superman Escape at Warner Bros. Movie World:
  16. American Adventure Theme Park American Adventure American Adventure World American Adventure Britannia Park Disneyland Paris - Disneyland Park Euro Disneyland Paris Euro Disneyland Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Blackpool Pleasure Beach PortAventura Park Port Aventura Universal Studios Port Aventura Universal's Port Aventura Port Aventura Six Flags Magic Mountain Magic Mountain
  17. Indeed not -- but are the belts actually required with the GCI restraint design? I don't know the answer to the above, but I point the reader towards the many coasters out there that run with lap bars only. This is precisely my point is there any reason that they need to be there? There are loads of other wood coasters without seat belts. Knoebels cut the seat belts out, so why couldn't Europa Park? Is a park like Europa Park really going to allow something that will slow up the boarding process? I think not, I mean none of their other coasters have seat belts.
  18. ^ What is up with the picture I thought it was a sensible comment for once...
  19. The 2012 new roller coaster list just keeps growing: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Dollywood Europa Park Hersheypark Mirabilandia Parc Asterix PortAventura SeaWorld San Diego Thorpe Park I hope they cut out the seat belts from the Millennium Flyers in order to increase capacity.
  20. Most definitely book in advance... Prices soar on the day in my experience.
  21. ^ I know it is probably not likely to be a windseeker, but I have once been absolutely slated for making assumptions so I be cautious whenever something happens like this. The post I read said tower ride which means (in my book) either observation, swings, launch or freefall...
  22. Hey Der Der Dongt, You probably won't find anything cheaper than £90. The cost of public transport in the UK is just going up and up. My advice is hit a park closer to London. Thorpe Park, Adventure Island, Chessington World of Adventures or Legoland. You could also try hitting Drayton Manor, whichever day you want to go there, from Euston to Tamworth is around about £15 for the round trip. You would have to get a taxi from Tamworth to Drayton Manor which would cost £5-£10 both ways. Also the entry to the park is cheaper and queues for rides are much much less normally. I went recently and everything was a walk on apart from Ben 10, well that is because it is new this year. Hope this helps, RollerCoasterSmith EDIT: Wrote this very quickly so made mistake about government taxation, anyway it is actually really cheap to go from Euston to Tamworth in order to get to Drayton Manor.
  23. ^ Why not? You just said tower ride so I was being open, although looking around other forums they all seem to be suggesting Mack/Intamin drop tower.
  24. I've just been doing some research and Europa Park builds new coasters really regularly: 1984 1985 1989 1997 1999 2000 2002 2005 2006 2009 On average that is a coaster just under every three years, so 2012 doesn't seem unreasonable. As I said I would prefer a coaster but a tower (drop or starflyer/windseeker) would be cool...
