  1. I don't think that's it. Top Thrill Dragster has lapbars, and Kingda Ka has over-the-shoulder-restraints. Enough people prefer the lapbars that they chose Dragster over Ka. Yes, that's a big gap. But there are some (including me) to whom restraints are a really big deal. And this probably answers the previously-asked question "Why don't looping coasters rank higher?" There are very few lapbar-only coasters with inversions and many of those are clones. Personally, Mr Freeze and Poltergeist went from near the bottom of my list to the top 25 when they traded out the earbashers for tummycrunchers. Those still aren't great restraints, but they at least allow you to enjoy the ride instead of just enduring the ride. With a similar restraint system and decent trains, even the Arrow mega-loopers could find some love. Goudurix might even move up a few notches. I really hope Parc Asterix invests in some of those new Vekoma lovelies. The layout is pretty good, but it is just the headbanging that makes it a terrible ride...
  2. I rode Silver Star 11 times in a row and I rode blue fire Megacoaster seven times in a row on opening day this year. There was literally no queue for anything, a complete walk on the whole day... Managed to ride every single one of the ten roller coasters at the park on top of these...
  3. That track give me orgiastic scream. I am now genuinely excited about LC12... I am still not seeing the point of viral campaign, if the general public type in LC12 they can easily see the layout, or it is just a big build up in the plot of the ride, giving it an amazing story... It is good to see Thorpe do something right. Just look at the track, it is coloured right, not garish or overpowering and inkeeping with the theme (THANK GOODNESS). Oh, and by the way those codes are for how long in days those coasters have been operating: 6262 - Nemesis 2958 - Nemesis Inferno 3343 - Air 4806 - Oblivion 2012 is looking like an amazing year: LC12, Verbolten, Manta, Hersheypark's New Coaster, Dollywood's New Coaster, Etnaland's New Coaster, and this is all before the 2011 season has barely started... It looks like the parks are wanting to invest in the best coasters before the world ends...
  4. What will the many firsts be? I can't think of many world firsts, and I seriously hope it doesn't have the same world's first element as SW7 at Alton Towers; that would really mess things up. Busch Gardens claims it will feature many "firsts" not "seconds" No, what I mean is that both parks will be keeping their "firsts" a secret... What I am saying is that I hope they will come up with different "firsts", and that they won't coincide.
  5. According to RCDB this beast is called Takabisha... Any TPR people in Japan know what it means??? I also remember watching the video of Robb at IAAPA talking to the folk at Gerstlauer. I seem to remember that he said something like "It is the same concept as Hansa Park but on a bigger scale... There is also an interesting theme" What is the theme? I wonder...
  6. ^^^ God... BGW have invested in the Euthanasia coaster, glad to see a custom layout mind you! Another thing: What will the many firsts be? I can't think of many world firsts, and I seriously hope it doesn't have the same world's first element as SW7 at Alton Towers; that would really mess things up. Finally, do we know why the chose Moser's Rides over Intamin, Fabbri or S&S. I hope it isn't due to cost. I really do hope we see a trend of BGW investing in smaller companies to bring benefits to everyone: companies get publicity, BGW gets new rides more cheaply...
  7. The reason the reviews were meh is because it was so hyped up as the world's scarietst ride and when it turned out it was an Intamin mine train and the drop wasn't huge everyone was well... meh... We know that this is geared more towards families than Cheetaka, so hopefully the reviews will be a bit less meh and a bit more yeh...
  8. When I read this post I began to feel all eerie. This guy is so messed up, just look at his other project. An aesthetically pleasing vomit inducer. I suppose it is artistic though.
  9. WOOHOO I AM SO STUPID ROBB CALLED ME DUMB TUMS...
  10. Hi Robb & Elissa, I know that donkeys have been asked about before but where did Tums come from. TPR has had SharkTums, RatTums and KidTums... What is the origin of this name and also why the hell have we not had DonkeyTums... Thank you, RollerCoasterSmith
  11. Why are there now envelope issues? The ride tunnels haven't changed or anything, and surely OTSR's surely restrict movement further... I am confused...
  12. I never realised the chained oak actually existed... I thought it was just a plot for Hex... STUPID ME...
  13. KidTums will never be the same again after meeting Leslie...
  14. Thought Of The Day: Hello TPR, Do you like maths... I do, I am quite good at it. I got 100% in my GCSE examination so . If you don't, whatever you do do not, I repeat, do not read this post. If you do like maths grab a coffee and prepare to be amazed. As my favourite manufacturer is Intamin, I wondered how they could make such good coasters. Then the thought hit me... Intamin doesn't actually exist. A bold claim you may ask, but here is my proof: - In terms of first coasters Vekoma > Intamin (Yeah I know Vekoma > Intamin... MY ) - In terms of wood coasters Intamin > Vekoma - Therefore Intamin > Intamin - Therefore Intamin cannot equal Intamin - Therefore zero cannot equal zero - The world collapses See, confused? Yeah me too. Intamin is actually a theoretical concept which is a massive coincidence, and if parks stop buying them we all will die... I tell you DIE... Anyway at the moment the leader in the poll has 42% of votes... keep voting. I promise the next poll will be controversial, funny and not be harmful... you hear that anyone wanting to block this thread for violating one of the rules in the 600 pages of rules and regulations that no one reads... SO MEH... Byebyebyebyebye... RollerCoasterSmith (Otherwise known as WHYTHEHELLHAVEYOUREADTHISFARYOUFREAKOHWAITYOUAREACOASTERADDICT)

  19. Hello TPR, Well you are here on my very random thingy, a not so thought provoking thingy in which I write whatever roller coaster thingies pop into my head at most once a day (so that I don't get murdered by LARRYGATOR). It may be a poll, a quote, a picture or anything else. Don't take anything on it too seriously, it is all a bit of fun... PLEASE DON'T LOCK THIS I BEG YOU... THIS HAS SOME ROLLER COASTER THINGIES IN IT... I AM SO LONELY THIS THINGY IS MY ONLY FRIEND... AAARRRGGGHHH QWERTYUIOP ASDFGHJKL ZXCVBNM Cheers, RollerCoasterSmith .......................................................................................................................................................... Below is my poll this month, lets start with a simple one, which company is your favourite manufacturer? Are you are normal roller coaster addict and go for B&M or Intamin (not that there is such a thing)? Or are you a sucker for a good and smooth Pinfari (not that there is such a thing)? Well here it is: [/size] May 2011 Results released on 29th May... P.S. Feel free to post suggestions for next months poll below... If your idea is used I will blow some air in your general direction...
