Your 2005 Year In Review!
shesaidboom replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
--Your 2005 year in review: So far my busiest year for coasters, but it really doesn't compare to a lot of yours. It started with a few trips to my home park PCW, a few days at Cedar Point in May, a spur of the moment trip to Cedar Point/PKI in June. Nothing but PCW until August when I went for an evening at Martin's Fantasy Island, a trip to Detroit to see one of my favorite bands and to Michigan's Adventure the day after, and then the massive [according to me ] road trip from Toronto to Florida stopping at parks along the way. The year ended with one last trip to Cedar Point in September. --Your first coaster of the year: Either Wild Beast or Vortex at PCW, I can't remember. --Your last coaster of the year: Magnum. --Best new steel to me: Montu. --Best new wood to me: Lightning Racer. --Best new flat ride to me: Shockwave at PCW. Has been at the park for a few years, but I rode it for the first time this year. --Best new water ride to me: Stayed away from water rides, with the exception of a couple log flumes --Best new dark ride/walk through to me: Cat in the Hat! --Best new water park attraction to me: Didn't go to any water parks. --Best new park to me: It's a tie between Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Islands of Adventure [minus the Jurassic Park section, I hate dinosaurs]. --Best park "moment" of the year: FINALLY getting to ride Montu after over a year of waiting. --Best overall park "trip" of the year: The road trip from Toronto to Florida, it was amazing. --Worst new attraction (any kind) to me of the year: Tomb Raider at PCW, although Hypersonic at PKD is a close second. --Best event at a park: Haven't been to a park event. --Best non-event day at a park: It's hard to choose one, but maybe my first day at IOA. --Best non-park related moment of the year: --Favorite TPR post/thread of the year: I enjoy Photo TRs a lot, random TRs are good too..so pretty much any of those. I liked the Retro TRs that were posted a while ago too. --Best Amusement related news of the year: The Voyage!!!!!! --Worst Amusement related news of the year: If it's definite that Ultra Twister from Astroworld is getting scrapped, probably that since I really want to ride one and I don't see myself going to Japan any time soon. --Ride that I had to rethink my opinion of in 2005: Skyrider at PCW. This used to be one of my favorite coasters when I was younger. I hadn't visited PCW in 4 or 5 years until this summer and when I rode it this year, I had no desire to ever ride it again. It isn't as bad as Shockwave at PKD, but it still hurts. --Hopes for 2006: A trip to SFMM? I know this wont happen though. I hope that the road trip I have planned for this summer is as amazing, or even more so, than the one from last summer. -
Favorite Disney Park
shesaidboom replied to America Sings Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only ever been to WDW Orlando [when I was 6] and Disneyland Paris, but I have to say I was very impressed with Disneyland Paris and had a great time while I was there..so that's where my vote went. Disney Sea also looks incredible, but I'm not sure I'll ever make it out there unfortunately. -
Bumper Cars- Track Or Rectangle?
shesaidboom replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Rectangle. Head-on collisions are much more fun. With the track it's harder to bump people because they're driving around at the same speed as you. -

Wow those puppets are terrifying  Other than that, nice TR. -
Tomb Raider at PCW. It has low capacity, making for an incredibly long wait even though the queue is tiny so the line spills out into the midway almost all the time. The trains are uncomfortable and you get banged around a lot through out the ride. Nothing is really holding you in place besides a big metal cage thing that's at least a foot away from your back...not fun when you're going through the inversions. While I thought the spiral lift was kind of neat, the ride itself is not fun, it just hurts. It's also an eyesore..and has nothing to do with Tomb Raider. It's bright yellow and blue, what does that have to do with Tomb Raider?

Why do webstores say things are in stock or will be shipped in 24 hours or less, when the items in question are not actually in stock?! I ordered a t-shirt from a website that had a big giant "IN STOCK" sign beside the picture. It said it ships in 24 hours or less. So I spend the $30 plus shipping on the shirt [i usually don't spend so much on a t-shirt, but I really liked it] and a few days later I get an e-mail saying "There is a problem with the manufacturer and we will not have any of these shirts in stock until the end of January, would you like to choose another shirt?" I would like my money back please, but they're refusing to give me a refund. I didn't like any of the other shirts, which is why I ordered that one! The simple solution to this problem..DON'T SAY THINGS ARE IN STOCK WHEN THEY'RE NOT!

East Coast Park Questions

I agree with everyone who said the lines at PCW were incredibly long. There were two or three times I went this year where I got there and left after riding one thing. It doesn't help that their ride ops seem to get slower and slower every year. It used to be that even if the Vortex queue was completely full, you'd only wait about half an hour, now you'll wait half an hour if the line gets to the bottom of the stairs. Your best bet is to go on a weekday and get there early. I personally wouldn't even bother going on a weekend. -
OMG!!! That's too funny!!! First pic, lenore looks like, "Who, me?" or "WTF???" Priceless, the look. I immediately laughed out loud. I end up with a lot of weird pictures of Lenore, she's a weird girl. Besides the Santa picture, I think this one's my favorite...

They're soo cute! I love rodents. I've never had guinea pigs, but I have two chinchillas. They're both girls so no babies though. Keep posting pictures of them

Thought maybe someone here would be interested in this.. I've been a fan of SLG [slave Labor Graphics] comics for a while, and recently learned they put out a comic based on the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland. It consists of stories based on the '999 happy haunts which call the mansion home', each one written by a different SLG artist, and is supposed to be a bi-monthly release. The first issue has six stories, including one by Roman Dirge. He also did the cover art. I got my copy this morning and have been enjoying it so far. I'm still somewhere in the middle. It's definately an interesting concept, and if you have a sick sense of humor and like comics you will probably enjoy this. You can find more information about it at http://www.slgpublishing.com [click the link for Disney comics, on the right side] or http://www.spookyland.com Cover art. Sorry the picture is so small.
