  1. ^ The only problem with that is that it's a very long ride and there are a few lift hills/drops throughout. I don't think the final lift hill before the big drop was very long, but I have a bad memory so maybe it is It would be neat if they raced down the drop though.
  2. I know Hershey Park had a system like this on their park maps last year.
  3. I've heard lots of things about Darien Lake, but I never thought everything I heard would be true. I guess this will teach me to listen to others You know you're a credit whore when We'll most likely go when we can stop at Martin's Fantasy Island on the way back since the crazy mouse wasn't open yet when we were there last. I was surpised to see Superman only running one train. In many Six Flags trip reports on TPR people have been saying how operations at all the parks have been improving. They were pretty quick with loading/unloading, but you'd still think they'd put on another train once the line got past a certain point.
  4. Did I say "taking apart"? I definately meant "putting up".
  5. The super excellent writing part of this bitchin' trip report will be written by 307 [the greatest person ever], while the pictures will be provided by the lovely and equally great shesaidboom. She is in no way influencing what I am writing. [ps she's awesome] So we're going on our big Mid-West [sorta] road trip next week but we decided it would be a good idea to purchase the $59.99 Six Flags seasons passes from Darien Lake, rather than waiting 'till we got to Great America next week where they cost roughly $30 more. CAN ANYONE SAY RIP OFF LOLOLZ0RZ? Anyway, this is Nikki [psst that's shesaidboom]'s first Six Flags park. I warned her that this place sucked, but I'm pretty sure she didn't properly grasp the suck factor until she walked in. It was pretty amusing seeing a parking lot that had, oh, about 100 cars in it ["Less than that!" - Nikki] but yet the park was completely full. There were probably more school buses in the lot than cars. Well it was amusing until we had to wait in line and stuff. Stupid Six Flags decided it'd be a great idea to take their two most popular coasters [superman and Predator, which I'm assuming is popular because of it's location near Superman/the front of the park] and run one train on them all day, resulting in amazingly long lines. I found this quite LOL'able because people were actually WAITING TO RIDE PREDATOR. That's like, standing in line to get hit in the ribs with a baseball bat. People should just not do this! Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of the people. I would've liked to photoshop "MORON" over each of their heads. Long story short, Superman's line was like two hours and so was Predator's, so we skipped them in favour of a Boomerang, which was honestly the best decision EVAR~! Boomerang broke right before we got on, trapping two people in the back car as their restraints wouldn't open. So, whilst the ride shut down for about 25 minutes, and about 10 park employees showed up [and none of whom did anything], the ride op decided to play a game of Six Flags trivia. Of course, your awesome hosts won the game and as a prize - received two exit passes to Superman! Good things do happen to good people! We eventually got on Boomerang and then made our way to Superman, where we surpassed the line of pissed off people [who had just waited two extra rides due to OTHER PEOPLE who were stuck on the Boomerang and also got Superman exit passes], and took a nice ride. Yay Superman. WOOSH. Blah blah blah, we went on Viper and the terrible, terrible SLC and then back to Superman for our second ride, also via the exit. My favourite part is that as we entered the exit for this ride, we saw people getting off the ride who had just entered the queue two hours earlier as we got off of our first ride. So, while we rode the other rides, they were waiting like suckers! Anyways, this place is a dump, not particularly good looking, doesn't have any good rides outside of Superman, and has terrible operations. Oh and the pathways are pretty disgusting, too. Bird poopie everywhere and lots of barf residue. But at least they have cheap season's passes. Unfortunately, Nikki didn't get her Predator credit, so we'll have to come back to get that. YES, WE ARE TRAVELLING TWO HOURS FOR PREDATOR. SOMEONE PUT AN ARROW OVER OUR HEADS SAYING "MORON". Kay pictures. We passed Martin's Fantasy Island on the way home, we still need to get the Crazy Mouse credit. Bye bye Superman. Splash boat to nowhere! Apparently I don't know how to take straight pictures of lift hills. Jer kisses the boo boo I recieved from the SLC. This is what Jer thinks of hang n' bangs. Here's one for the foot fetishists. Coming out of the brake run at approximately .0003 miles per hour. Viper is a very painful ride. Not as bad as Mind Eraser though. The water park was suprisingly busy despite the mild weather. Here Jer enjoys said exit passes. Train is fixed. Meanwhile, this ride op started a trivia game which we kicked ass at and won two exit passes. He took the panel off the back car and screamed at it until it worked. One mechanic got to work, while 10 other employees stood around and did nothing. Stuck on Boomerang. This girl's friends made sure everyone knew she was stuck by yelling at everyone walking by. Watch out for exclusive pictures on her Myspace. "Hi, I am Jer. I enjoy long walks on the beach and cuddling by the fire with a warm cup of cocoa." This one is for the Sideloop Fanatics. Exclusive shot. This photo was the beginning of a long and *gasp* rewarding boomerang experience. Yay lift hill. Superman has a crappy station. It also has a really long line and bad operations. WOO! ONE TRAIN! Slide surgery. They were taking apart a water slide.
  6. Rude park guests and old men who push you while in the line for the Jurassic Park ride at IOA. People who walk incredibly slowly and take up entire walkways or stop entirely right in the middle of a busy walkway so everyone behind them has to navigate around them or push them out of the way to get by. Slow ride operations..it shouldn't take 5+ minutes to dispatch one train unless there is a problem or something. Long lines, but when parks are busy those can't really be avoided.
  7. Congratulations! Now you can get all the kiddie credits without looking like a credit whore
  8. There are 80 acres of undeveloped land at Canada's Wonderland? Where?
  9. ^ ooops. I captioned them after I uploaded them all and wasn't paying attention. Yay for edit buttons.
  10. Here are a few from Michigan's Adventure, taken last August, although they're not the greatest pictures ever. I'm heading to Idlewild and Lakemont in a couple weeks so I'm sure I'll get some pictures of those parks then. Full version of the first picture. Big Dipper. Mad Mouse. Wolverine Wildcat. Wolverine Wildcat from the mini-golf course. Shivering Timbers as seen from parking lot. Shivering Timbers. Corkscrew. Shivering Timbers. Zach's Zoomer.
  11. I completely agree with you on this. I almost wish they'd raise the price of small rodents so people would respect them and take better care of them. Too many times I hear "why should I take my sick rat/hamster/guinea pig to the vet? The vet visit is $35, my rat was $5. I can just get a new one." It doesn't matter how much one spends, they agreed to take care of that animal when they got it. I know you're not referring to just me here, but I wasn't trying to challenge what you were saying. I do agree with everything you have said in this thread [and I do realize that it's perfectly okay for everyone to have differing opinions, I do respect your opinion and I'm not trying to change your mind or say that you're wrong, I'm just trying to put my experiences out there as well] except for this.. I don't think it's fair to say that our animals are unhappy or insinuate that we're not good pet owners as our pets could have a better life or that we haven't done any research. I know for a fact that my chins could care less about my cat and they wouldn't be happier with or without her. Every time anyone has seen them they comment on how happy and content they look. I did a ton of research before I was able to get them, I completely agree with you that it's important to research and not enough people do it, and what I found said that most of the time they're fine with dogs/cats as long as they're not left alone unsupervised as accidents can happen. Maybe it's different with tiny rodents like hamsters, I have never done research on them since I've never had them. Also, I'm sure different breeders/pet owners have differing opinions. Again, I'm not trying to argue with you or challenge you, say that you're wrong, try to change your mind or anything like that. I know that everyone has different experiences and opinions, I'm just posting mine.
  12. I'm going on a Midwest trip in 10 days Riding the Voyage on 6/6/6.
  13. Toboggan! I haven't been on one yet, but I'm going to be at a park with one in a couple weeks. They look very painful.
  14. Great updates. Now I regret not including Beech Bend in the widwest trip I'm doing in a week and a bit.
  15. I have the TPR front page bookmarked since I check that first. You guys usually post updates every few days, especially now that more parks and new attractions are opening.
  16. You can have rodents and other animals as long as you're careful 100% of the time and have separate rooms set up for them. I have a cat and two chinchillas. The chinchillas are kept in my computer room and the door is always closed if nobody is in the room. My cat is actually afraid of the chins so she'll rarely come in, and during the times she has she stuck to the other side of the room and the chins had no interest in her, they just kept doing what they were doing. Even though there's no possible way my cat could knock over a 4 foot tall cage or open the cage doors, the door to the room stays closed when nobody is around just incase she decided to bother them through the cage bars or something. The computer room is also by the front door so I can double check that the door is closed before I leave the house. If you leave your pets together unsupervised, or don't make sure that doors are closed and everyone is safe, then yeah it's a horrible idea to have more than one, but all my pets are safe, healthy and happy. I'm not trying to argue that rodents + dogs or cats isn't a bad idea, obviously it can be, I'm just saying that it can be possible for them to live in the same house and still be happy and healthy.
  17. You didn't know this was going to happen, if you had known I'm sure you would've closed the door all the way. It's very unfortunate that this happened, but hopefully others will learn from this and see how dangerous it can be to leave animals alone together..especially smaller caged animals with dogs or cats. I'm sure your piggies were loved and well taken care of before this happened.
  18. Backpacks can be annoying since you can't take them with you on many rides and at a lot of parks you can't leave them on the other side of the station. Cargo pockets with secure flaps/buttons..some pants will have flaps that are sewn down at the sides and only open in the middle so your stuff is less likely to fall out. Some also have an extra button underneath the flap. If you're really worried you could get some strips of velcro [there are kinds with sticky stuff on the back so you don't have to sew it] and stick it inside the pockets. I've never had a problem with regular cargo pockets though. Fanny packs are lame, but useful.
  19. It was always a little hard to find since the entrance led down a little hill, but I remember there being a big sign with egyptian statues on it that kind of matched the egyptian themeing of Pharoh's Falls before they took that out. There also used to be a lot less blocking it..but recently they've been putting more and more in the area. I'm really sad to see it go.
  20. ^^ Get there early and make sure it's the first thing you do. From what I've seen the queue fills up really quickly and stays that way all day. The park operations seemed better on Friday night than they did last year, so hopefully the line will go quicker. Last year I waited an hour and a half with the queue nearly full, but it broke down for 15 minutes or so somewhere in there.
  21. The Italian Job's queue looked like that on Friday night also. I hope it isn't too bad next time I'm there, I'd like to ride it at some point without having to wait an hour and a half. I guess I'm the only one who thought Minebuster wasn't as rough this year. Probably because I didn't ride in the back. Someone ride closer to the front and let me know what it's like, I'm starting to feel crazy
  22. ^ Learning things is always good! I knew nothing of this process, but am kind of glad to learn that it's not actually part of the themeing.
  23. Reading that makes me wish I visited Kennywood last year instead of saving it for next month. I'm sure it'll still be good, but I don't like the 'not quite as untamed' part. Great TR, thanks for sharing.
  24. Every time I see pictures and hear about the Voyage I get even more excited to ride. I don't to wait another month Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
  25. Good for you guys for raising so much money. It looked like a fun event and for a good cause too. Hopefully next time Guy will sell off more body parts, he seems to be getting a good start already I thought the area around Tatsu looked much better when it wasn't covered in that green fluffy stuff. I wonder what possessed them to go crazy with it. Great pictures and videos
