Knoebels Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What? It flooded a few days before I got there the weekend of July 28-29? I never knew that. But on the two days I was there to ride a few rides and play Fascination and Pokereno, there was a light rain and light crowd on Friday. Saturday had sunny skies and huge crowds visited the park. That was the first time I've ever saw The Phoenix and The Twister run double trains, not to mention long lines on the Log Flume, Haunted House, and Black Diamond Mine. IMPULSE had all its lines filled up, but I got up and rode it because I was a and that line was empty. I wanted to try out their newest ride OVER THE TOP, but that ride was out of service ( so was Power Surge, Downdraft, and 1001 Nights on Friday, but got Power Surge running on Saturday). I played some pinball and cashed out some the Fascination Coupons and Playland tickets so I could take home some stuff. I still have tickets left over for a return visit. KNOEBELS - The park that all other parks wish they could be like! -
Here is my second post on this topic because I had to sit in front of another girl that just kept screaming. It's a wonder why I didn't become deaf after the ride was over. They can just be as annoying as having to wait in a long line in front of whining crying kids that their own parent cannot bring under control. I think the park should provide duct tape to those who can't stop screaming ( I mean why not? NASA uses it to control astronauts if they go space crazy) . People who hoot and holler on the other hand: that's completely different; I do it all the time and it doesn't offend anyone. I think that's all I have to say and wishes to go to another topic.

Oh ho, do I have another shameful coaster story to add to this thread to keep it alive . . . A few years ago, at Six Flags Great Adventure when they used to have a kick coaster called "THE CHILLER!" I was a single rider who waited a long, long time so I could ride BATMAN side. The park attendants took a long time between launches, and I thought I should team with another single rider to help the line go quicker and to get on and off the ride quicker. I see someone by himself in a train so I asked him if I could ride with him. He looked at me and said, "Sure thing." Delighted, I thanked him and got into the seat. When I turned around to thank him again, he was gone! I don't know why he got off the ride, but if he didn't want me to ride with him all he had to do was to reply "No" and I would understand. He made me feel guilty and I couldn't enjoy the ride after that.

Lakemont Park changes
palmerleeberry replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I'm sure it was way back in the roaring 20's. I'm just saying that Lakemont park needs to either get itself better with these changing times, or join the association of defunct parks. -
Lakemont Park changes
palmerleeberry replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As for my opinion I say it's about time that Lakemont park got a huge makeover. It needs a little bit of everything so it can once again become the park it once was in its heydays. If I were the one who was renovating the park here is what I'd do: 1) I would add a fifth coaster to the park, probably a family-sized coaster such as a Wild Mouse, a Roller Skater, or a family suspended coaster ( like the Freedom Flyer at The Fun Spot). 2) Next, I'd put in a log flume attraction. 3) Next, put in a dark ride with a haunted house theme. 4) Renovate the Arcade in which one side has redemption games and the other side has classic arcade games in which players pay one price to play all day. 5) And speaking of games, lets also have pavilions that houses Skeeball, Bowling, Fascination, and Pokereno ( you can play those last two games at Knoebels). 6) More family fun events; such as holiday cook-outs, summer concert series, and sports tournaments. 7) Put in The Whip. I'm sure there's an unwritten rule that states that any amusement park in the state of Pennsylvania must have The Whip. 8 Add another attraction to the waterpark. 'Nuff said! 9) Finally, beautify the place up. Plant more trees, pour more concrete, landscape some gardens - Make this a park that pleases all your senses with sights, sounds, smells, and even feeling that this is one awesome park to visit. -

I'd bet you by doing that then we'll have a lot of kids who wouldn't mind taking their bath!!! -
Funniest Ride Experiences
palmerleeberry replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay, this incident happened at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Near the skyway ride from England to France is a pen they keep some Yaks in. I was walking behind a mother and her child. We were walking around the pen and the Yak was near the fence. The child shouted "Howdy" to the Yak and the Yak immediately bellowed a reply, just like it was on cue. We were still laughing as we reach the Globe Theater. -
Great TR report on Taiwan. It's always interesting to hear about amusement parks in other parts of the world, and even more interesting to see pictures of those parks. As for the closed park I'm sure there's another park out there that could benefit with the Ferris wheel and Carousel ( Of course those two rides are the staple in all other parks, but maybe there's a new park looking for those two rides. Well, one can always hope.), but if they don't mind the transportation that would be required if they're taking it out of Taiwan. A ride that looks like a log flume, but it also has coaster tracks? I know of a ride like that in SeaWorld Orlando called 'Journey to Atlantis", so I wonder if that ride was like that. I would be amazed if that ride started like your typical log flume, but it turns into a Mad Mouse type coaster that splashes you in the end.

I was there at the park on Wednesday [AUG 24] as my month-long vacation was winding down. I got to walk up and ride a few coasters and eat dinner at the Festa Haus ( even though they didn't have a show that day). Thanks to your photo trip I can see the progress they have made for InvadR. Still, I cannot see how the track layout is going to be. Maybe when I do come back to the park next season I'll head to InvadR, ride it once, ride it twice, ride it three time, and then finally see what they did and wonder to myself why I didn't see it before. Busch Gardens did this to me before - twice - when they added Alphengist and Griffon in areas I didn't think were possible. Now with InvadR, they're going to do it to me three times! After they're done with InvadR, the next question would be What's next? Would the old Drachen Fire finally be used or will they put another ride in Ireland? But the biggest question for me is will I be well and fit enough to visit the park next season ( meaning - will I lose enough weight so I can fit into any seat on Alphengist and Griffon instead of the "larger guest" seats?)? "The answer, my friend is just wait and see/ the answer is just wait and see." InvadR - R you ready to attack this coaster?"

Well, it's about time the Six Flags America is getting their own Skyscreamer ride and calling it "Wonder Woman". With all the other Six Flags parks having their own Skyscreamers except Six Flags America made that park look like The Black Sheep of the Six Flags Family . Plus, knowing my experiences riding all those other Skyscreamers, I can honestly tell you those rides make look intimidating, but they are smooth rides (After riding my first one in Six Flags St. Louis, I thought the husband of my half-sister -who lives in Bloomington, IL- could handle this ride even though he was sick at the time and hates anything that's rough and tough. 'Tis a pity he died a two years ago. )! As with the discussion of where're they gonna put it? I was thinking the spot where the old Kryton Comet (later replaced by the Flying Bobs, and now replaced with tables ) would be the best place to put it. That area could use another flat ride to join the ??? RIDDLE ME THIS ??? and the surrounding coasters and spinning raft ride. Another spot I was thinking about was the huge gap between Superman and Batwing, so guest can have two attractions to walk to instead of the only one. But no matter where it goes, Wonder Woman will be the ride that will be most welcomed and best loved.

What happened was for some kind of reason they closed the Tanganyida Tidal Wave down (since April 2016 - according to Wikipedia), and it shall remain so until they either restore it, replace it, or just tear it down. I'm hoping for another "Journey to Atlantis" in which they can re-use the still standing lift and drop as the first lift and drop and build a building to house the second lift and even wilder drop.

Like I stated in a previous post: Lakemont Park is on its last legs. Now, can Leaps the Dip be saved and moved into another park, like Knoebels? Well, they did it with the Phoenix coaster and with Black Diamond, so I'm positive they could do it with Leaps the Dips, plus I'm sure they can operate that coaster way better than those at Lakemont Park. But the question should be do they want to?

If you all don't mind, I'm going to change the subject and talk about a boat ride called "Journey to Atlantis. . . "Dude, that ride's in SeaWorld. I thought this thread was supposed to be on Busch Gardens Tampa?" Well, it is. I just wanted to say that they ought to put a ride like that to replace their old and closed-off Tanganyika Shoot the Chutes ride. I think that would be awesome! "Hey, no fair! We want them to do something with the old Gwazi that involves RMC structure work!" Hey, I would love to see both, but I'm sure one attraction would be worked on first. So here is my question to all you Busch Gardens Tampa lovers and anyone else that's a rider and amusement park flyer: What attraction would you like to see them work on?

I just visited the park today to do three things: play some redemption games and the KISS pinball game (that tilts too easily), ride some flats, and finally ride WHITE LIGHTNING!!! Well, I did all that, so I can die happy or just retire from riding and amusement park flying. While the park has enough as it stands, we all know we'll be asking for more new attractions. I did see a grassy field that was fenced off and I couldn't help but dream what else could they put in there. Two things come to mind: a log flume and a custom made dark ride. I went during the day, but I bet it's even super at night! WHITE LIGHTNING - Can you survive it's strike?

The part I liked the best on the suspended coaster were all those high swinging motions whenever the coaster curved around. The ole Big Bad Wolf was an excellent coaster. Plus, they were never "head-bangers" like I would find on today's inverted coasters. It's a shame that only a small handful of parks have these suspended coasters and it's been ages since a brand-new suspended coaster has been introduced. Perhaps a brand-new trend with these coasters could bring these coasters back!

I was at the park on Saturday and I got to do a little bit of everything, including riding the Cobra Curse despite having that ride breaking down numerous times a day. I did love Cheetah Hunt and I rode it twice. I would have love to ride Scorpion twice as well, but they were running only one train and a lot of disable riders and those with Quick Queues caused a long waiting time for the rest of us. I wanted to go back today using my platinum pass, but it's raining hard.

Knoebels Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I finally got to the park two weeks ago and I was very impressed how different it felt compared to my visit a few years ago. I was pleasantly surprised that both BLACK DIAMOND and the Skyway were now included with the Ride-all-day wristband, and I rode Flying Turns TWICE! Of course besides riding I was also playing Pokereno and Fascination. And they had Pinball!!! Other old parks should take notice on Knoebels: that is how a park should be run. -
I hate to say this, but I believe that Lakemont Park may be on it's last legs. It didn't feel that way on my last visit there a few years ago, but I believe they could add a new ride or two, such as a dark ride or a family coaster, to draw enough of a crowd to keep them in business. Plus, they could benefit with adding something to their water park section, because that whole area is starting to become a joke with a stale punchline. Only go there to get the Toboggan and Leaps the Dips credit. As for Delgrosso's, they should also add another roller coaster and a dark ride.

Well, I've been to Lake Winnie and I believe I got a bit disappointed with this park. While the majority of the rides were running, there were a few that were down, including the Twister. Cannonball finally opened up at two o'clock, Fly-O-Plane, Orbiter, and Sea Monster were down, and they only had a total of three antique cars running. One thing I wish they would do is fix up the old miniature golf course so you can play eighteen holes instead of eleven. At least I finally got to ride Conestoga - twice. The Boat Chutes at Lake Winnie -it may be the oldest ride in the park, but it still gets the longest line!

"It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it" - from the song "We Care A Lot" by Faith No More. But I do have faith in Busch Gardens Williamsburg to pull this construction off and add another coaster to their layout. And don't forget about Le Scoot, the newly-restored log flume - remember that they cared a lot to preserve this fine family ride. " This is going to be AWESOME!!!"

Drifting Coaster
palmerleeberry replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll say put that type of coaster inside a dark ride and you'll have a ride that the riders and amusement park flyers would flock in droves to ride on. "Whenever someone mentions dark ride, the bed is the first thing that comes to mind."
