  1. I think RMC will get their hands on ROAR sooner than later. "I sure hope so; I don't want to keep my ban on going to Six Flags lasting forever, you know!"
  2. You know, I just can't think how different the park looks with Thunder Road gone. I bet the view will also be different from the drivers that were used to driving by Thunder Road, and now the coaster isn't there anymore. "Don't look at me; I just want to lie in bed all day."
  3. Oh Boy, those pictures have got me X-SITE-TED!!! Already Kings Dominion has my favorite flats with Scrambler, Windseeker, Bad Apple, and Snoopy's Moon Buggies. Now with Delirium added to the mix, what else can they do to make me go ? "How about a nice bedroom attraction? Hey, even we pillows can dream too, you know!"
  4. I've seen many types of these boxes from various parks, so if you value your valuables, either have coat pockets that has zippers or invest some money into renting a "Lock Her" so you can have piece of mind whenever you ride ( Trust me, losing cell phones is bad, losing money is bad, but if you lost your keys, then that's your worst nightmare!) "Take that advice and sleep on it!"
  5. Okay, it's been a while since I've posted a line on this thread, so here . . .it . . .goes! Shoot the Rapids - I only rode it once and although I thought the ride was decent, it didn't blow me away like I hoped. Removal of Shoot the Rapids - No tears for me. Possible replacements of Shoot the Rapids - I've got several ideas what can occupy that area. There was a flume ride from Six Flags America that was called "The Typhoon Sea Coaster" that had great elements, but the (color=black] insert your favorite cuss word here[/color]) park couldn't execute them properly. I'm sure that Cedar Fair will take what Six Flags America didn't do and make it ten time better! Another idea would be to make another flume ride attraction like Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knott's Berry Farm ( Those things are fun!!!). Or they could scrape the flume idea and make it a big dark ride attraction with a Frontier theme ( wasn't they thinking about putting in a dark ride attraction years ago?). Valraun and Rougarou - Bring them on!!! To beat the locker filter - Just write it as "Lock Her". One final word from my pillow . . . "Like it or not, I'M BAAAAAACK!!!"
  6. What Cedar Fair is doing by going out, finding and buying classic rides, and bringing them to operate in their parks has got me saying "OH -YEAH!!!" Carowinds will be getting five classic rides that I'm sure will be a wonderful addition to their lineup. Who knows what the team will find next year when they disembark on another "Amusement Ride Picker" episode, but if they found a "Galaxy" coaster and decided to put it in Kings Dominion, then I'll think I would do the dance!
  7. Well, it has been a while since I last visited this post ( just like the last time I visited this park) and I can see all the comments and arguments and concerns happening within this post. I didn't go to Kings Dominion nor any other Cedar Fair Park in the 2015 season, but I do feel a need to go this season and purchase a new CEDAR FAIR PLATINUM PASS! As for all the talk about "we want a new coaster" I fully agree. As for what kind of coaster that will be a perfect fit for Kings Dominion, that will create a huge matter of debate. Should we be the next park in line to get a Wing coaster, or should we be the first park in the Cedar Fair circuit to have The Hurler transformed into Iron Hurler, or get the newest coaster type that no other park has thought of getting? One coaster type I would root for is A Water Coaster for our waterpark. If Kings Dominion gets a water coaster, then we'll be the first and ( so far) only park in the Cedar Fair Circuit that has this type of coaster. Then again, this will cause the situation similar to the time when a customer complained that there was a fly in his soup. You don't get it? The waiter quickly whispered into the customer's ear, "Quiet sir, or else everybody would want one!"
  8. As I will be loath to admit it, it was the HYPERSONIC XLC at Kings Dominion. First mistake was the station design: they built two sets of lines and only used the left side. Second mistake was the low ridership ( up to eight riders per train). Third mistake was the fact that this ride kept breaking down all the time. After Cedar Fair bought the park and decided to scrap this coaster, it lead to the fourth mistake: the old station and storage shop are still on site, reminding everyone about an awesome coaster that once roam though here and will never blast again.
  9. I must confess: it'll be strange to drive by Carowinds and not see Thunder Road anymore, but a few more additions to their water park that was surely in need of an upgrade. And what's better than a lazy river? How about TWO lazy rivers! Speaking about lazy rivers ( and this is just my opinion), they could turn one of those lazy rivers into a cool attraction like Schlitterbahn did to their lazy river attraction when they turned your normal lazy river ride into a ride called "Conga" that was full of fog tunnels, scary props, and lots of things that squirt water at you. It'll be interesting what it'll be this coming May.
  10. Whenever someone post a park tour during the off season, I have to click on and take a look. What these parks do during the winter time is always fascinating. From an earlier post on another thread, I wrote that they should have a program that shows what these parks do when they close down for the winter and when they are building another attraction. Until that happens, I guess we have to settle for this.
  11. I cannot say I've ever been on a coaster when it rode the transfer track, but I've seen many times when they ceased operations so they could add another train unto the track. And if you're standing in a very long line and see them adding another train, then you tend to get very excited because an extra train means that this very long line will be moving really quick. Now about Storm Chaser, methinks they will start off this season with two trains because the line is going to be Loooong. During the early years when riding Twisted Twins I don't think I can ever recall a very long line. They did have a block of switchbacks before the straightaway to one of the two stations, but they were never used! If they do decide to keep them, then methinks they will be used and used a lot. STORM CHASER - Are you chasing it or is it chasing you?
  12. Wow Wee Wow Wow Wow! If I could use a newfangled word to describe this coaster, then it would be . . . "APPLESAUCE!!!" Wait . . . it seems I've got the wrong word. It's suppose to be . . . "AWESOMESAUCE!!! I think I'll go water the ducks. STORM CHASER - ARE YOU CHASING IT OR IS IT CHASING YOU?
  13. As I'm approaching my forty-eight birthday, there were two times within my lifetime when I thought I wasn't going to be able to handle the rides anymore. 2012 - During my trips, I began to notice that I was getting ill after riding a few rides. This happened during the beginning of the season. It wasn't until August, while visiting Silver Dollar City, when I finally figured out why and what to do about it. So before visiting any park, I need three things: to be well rested, to be well fed, and to be hydrated. Plus, take safety breaks between high impact rides by either riding low impact rides ( rides such as the carousel, antique cars, and the slide), catching a show, looking through a shop, or just find a place to sit down and relax. Sometimes waiting in a long line can be beneficial as it helps you recover from that last thrilling ride. Those are the methods I've been using during my visits to parks. 2015 - Due to a hole in my left leg, my left foot would hurt regardless if I was walking on it or not. So during my visit to Six Flags over Georgia in June, I was in agony as I walked through out the park. So after seeing my doctor and being prescribed a medicated goo to help cover over that hole and let it heal, I was in much better spirits. Not only did I have no more pain in my foot, but also I began to be like my old self again. I did return to Six Flags over Georgia in October and walked throughout that park feeling real good! I may be getting old, but I feel I am not ready to hang up the mantle of being a rider and amusement park flyer. However, there are a few rides I can't go on anymore if the restraints won't fit me or I'm too heavy. Despite those restrictions, I can still have a great day inside the park. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  14. Ah . . .'tis a song of sweet sorrow whenever the theme parks closed for the season. "Tis the time for rides to be rehab during this time, and a new coaster to be constructed that's gonna kick !!! As for myself, I'll shall use this off-season to lose some weight, trim an inch or two off my chest, and get myself into thrill riding shape; methinks I should plan a return visit since it's been a few years since my last visit ( and that was to Soak City for the benefit of my ailing friend who could handle water rides, but no roller coasters - take my advice: don't get a heart attack! ), and I can feel the park calling me to come in 2016. To me, Cedar Point is the Mecca of riders and amusement park flyers everywhere. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  15. Speaking for myself and anyone else out there that are single riders, any ride that must have two or more people to get on. And I'm not talking about the biggest thrill rides, I'm taking about the family rides like the Antique Cars and Giant Ferris Wheel. While some parks can allow me to go by myself, other parks have a zero tolerance policy in place, even if nobody's in line. Do you know how many giant Ferris wheels I had to pass up because I didn't have another person to ride with? Too many! As for Antique Cars in some parks: why do I need another person to ride with? Are you afraid I'm going to fall out? If I'm lucky, I can be there at the same time when there is another single rider who will need me to ride that ride, but that doesn't happen often. I guess that's why we have the swings and the carousel because I can ride by myself!
  16. I think there was one time I rode an inverted coaster with bare feet ( or maybe I did that on a drop tower ), but that is about as naked I'm ever going to get! In fact, unless there is water and an inner tube involved, I will always wear a shirt, bathing trucks, shoes, and a smile.
  17. If there is something I hate more that people sitting and playing on the line rails are people who think they can their way up in line, because they are (to me ) a bunch of heads. Before entering any line for any ride, I always ask myself "Am I good? I don't need to use the restroom or will get thirsty while waiting?" It's just the same as seeing how long the lines are and asking yourself if the wait time be worth the ride itself. I am proud to state that in the many, many years I've been going to amusement parks I NEVER HAVE ed in front of other people. Now I may have "bounced up" in line by the ride attendants to help fill up a car ( A situation not uncommon with me being a single rider) or used The Single Rider Line whenever it was available, but those are perfectly legal eagle scenarios and not open for public scorn and condemnations. And there was one situation in which I was with three other people, one confined to a wheelchair. we went to ride on the water rapids ride, so while one stayed with the one in the wheelchair, I and other rider went in line, so that when it became our turn to ride the two that waited on the sidelines joined us. And finally, there were times I let some people get in front of me. All of these are perfectly legal eagle. But anyone who s in line should be taken out and placed to the back of the line with a sign that reads " Because I in line - I'm a head!" I think that should be the next Public AD: "Stay In Your Line - Don't Be A head!!!"
  18. That looks awesome. I cannot wait to see what lucky park will be the first to get a coaster with an element like that ( With my luck it'll be in some European park that I may never have the chance to visit, or let's get positive and say it'll be my home park of Kings Dominion that'll get it first).
  19. Oh yes, I got to ride Tempesto at Busch Gardens a few weeks ago and that was a fun little coaster. I could see them adding that to the park, but like I stated in an earlier post a family-oriented coaster would also fit the bill. As for the flat ride that could fit the now-empty circle where the Zeppelins use to soar, I would place my bets on a Scrambler ride and name it either "The Cyclone" or "The Twister" ( since it will be close to Storm Chaser, it might as well have a "stormy" name). STORM CHASER - ARE YOU CHASING IT OR IT CHASING YOU?
  20. Wow, Six Flags America is getting Splashwater Falls, the kind of water attraction that is sure to be a great hit for the kiddies and anyone that wants to get a good soaking by standing under the giant water bucket when it tips over. Please excuse me for not being that excited about this announcement because SIX FLAGS AMERICA ALREADY HAS THAT KIND OF ATTRACTION!!! Oh, they are redoing that area? I'm sure that there are some places inside that park that could use an upgrade ( new trains with better restraints on Superman Ride of Steel or Iron Roar or even a small flat ride), but I never suspected they'd do this to a great and unique Splash attraction. Now they will redo this area and make it just like any old Splash attraction. Oh the humanity . . .
  21. Oh yes oh yes I do remember those types of rides. I also remember back then that me and my sisters didn't have what it took to make it reach the top for a full revolution ( it'll always be back and forth, back and forth, hey, I think we can reach the top, [bRAKE] rats, the ride's over). If I was twenty years younger and by myself, I think I'll be able to reach the top. As for today, I'm not sure. I think I may want to stick to riding the Merry-Go-Rounds.
  22. Why? You don't like THE ROLLER SKATER??? Okay, okay, it was just a little joke, so you can put the rope away. Seriously, I would be in favor of another family oriented coaster for Kentucky Kingdom, and that spot where the old dragster once stood would be the perfect spot for a mad mouse or spinning coaster or even a spinning mouse coaster. I'm also in favor of them adding the Scrambler in that old area where the Zeppelins used to fly ( who knows - maybe they will after they get Storm Chaser up and running). STORM CHASER - ARE YOU CHASING IT OR IS IT CHASING YOU? T3 - WILL YOU BE "RED"-DY TO RIDE IT? THE ROLLER SKATER - TAKE A RIDE AROUND OUR RINK!
  23. NTAG - that works for me, especially for someone who dislikes using acronyms. I was at the park last week and enjoyed myself ( I rode Justice League twice ). I rode Texas Giant when it was a monster woodie years ago and NTAG last week, and I must confess that I like NTAG much better. Perhaps they should do that I - beam conversion to Judge Roy Scream - I mean, how could such a little out and back coaster like that be so ROUGH? The Texas Sky Screamer - That ride goes high and it's so smooth and relaxing I bet a few people I know that can't tolerate any rough ride would love this ride, but they won't go on it because they're scared of heights! I'M NOT PERFECT; I JUST LOVE TO RIDE!!!
  24. Speaking of log flumes, I do know the log flume at Six Flags over Texas doesn't allow single riders. I was there last week and I had to ride with two kiddies - not bad since these two kiddies were well behaved and looked like they needed an adult to ride with. If I were at my home park of Kings Dominion getting on the Shenandoah Log Flume, then I know they'll let me ride by myself. I guess each park has its own rules for safety.
