Kudos to Kentucky Kingdom and the report that attendance is through the roof!!! Three cheers!!! I wouldn't mind visiting the park again, but it probably won't happen in a few years in which, hopefully at that time, they would have all their rides running and I'll be slim enough to ride Lighting Run. As for the possible Top Spin flat ride placement I can see two possible locations: one would be between Mile High Fall and Roller Skater, and the second one would be in the back of the park somewhere between the amphitheater and River Rapids Ride. But one more flat ride they could use to put into the once-closed-and-soon-to-be-reopened section should be the Scrambler. ROLLER SKATER - TAKE A RIDE AROUND OUR RINK!!!

Many times when I visited a park by my own lonesome and there is a ride that features a SINGLE RIDERS LINE, then I have this attitude of " I don't care where I sit or with whom I sit with because I don't have to wait that long in line to ride." As for coasterkid124's query - if you want to sit in the back, then yes you must wait in the normal line with everyone else. In the single rider's line, you sit where the ride attendant tells you to sit and act happier than a pickle in a salad bar. To me, if the SINGLE RIDERS LINE is open, and knowing that this will be my first ever ride on a RMC, then I don't care where I sit because any seat is better than no seat on Goliath. How do you like them pickles at a salad bar?

Well, I'm not going to add to the speculation; just wanted to say "Finally, we got some action! The rides are going to be dismantled and shipped to another park that knows how to keep their business running." Although this is highly unlikely, but wouldn't it be a kick in the head if there was a small park that actually purchased Led Zeppelin?

When I was riding Thunder Run, I managed to take a few looks around the unopened areas of the park and I saw the area between Rapids and Twins that a Dragster ride used to be, plus I also saw the old area that the Zeppelin ride used to be and a few extra buildings. Methinks that when it is time to refurbish Twins, they should also refurbish the surrounding area as well. I don't know what they will do, but based on how these currently unused buildings are constructed, I can see an old Kentucky theme going there. I guess I gotta wait and see, wait and see . . .

Here is a chance for me to play "What If" just like Marvel's Comics. So I guess I must play the Watcher, a being that only observe. "WHAT IF CEDAR FAIR SAVED SIX FLAGS ASTROWORLD?" It's October 2005 and Six Flags have closed Astroworld. Now in this reality the powers-to-be at Cedar Fair just read the news and just sighed "Another amusement park becomes defunct" and goes on to their daily operations as they plan to purchase all the Paramount parks and add them to their chain. But there are other realities, such as this one. One of those higher-ups looked at the news and thought "What if we also bought Astroworld? Why not? Don't we have any parks that far south? Texas has two Six Flags parks, so I think it should get a Cedar Fair park to, even if it was a former Six Flags park." So the motion was presented to the board and it gets passed. Late spring of 2006, Astroworld is opened to the public without any new rides, but all Looney Tunes and DC Super Heroes have been taken out, and a brand new Camp Snoopy is featured. The former Batman: The Escape has been given a complete overhaul with a new entrance built and renamed. Within the next few years, that whole area that was Batman will be given a new theme and new rides would be featured. Cedar Point would also fix up the Aqua Theater and bring back its water shows. As Geauga Lake's rides began to be dissolved and put into other parks, XLR-8 would be taken out and Dominator, now at Kings Dominion, would take its place and have the tagline "The longest floorless coaster in Texas". Astroworld would also get a flying coaster the following year that Kings Island now has as Firehawk. The Waterpark will become "Soak City" and receives new slides. It's 2014 and Astroworld is a big thriving park thanks to the efforts of Cedar Fair and the efforts of one higher up who thought this park was well worth saving. I'm sure that is happening at an alternative universe, but not happening at this one alas. Perhaps Grand Texas Theme Park could actually be a reality.

The only coaster I can think of will have to be Volcano at Kings Dominion in which not one, but two launches are needed to get the coaster train traveling straight up and "blasted" out of the Volcano. It may be short, but with a launch system like that and three inversions to boot, that ride is a "BLAST"!

I've just saw the news report on Goliath and now I know I cannot wait until my vacation time in late July before I fly over there and get a chance to ride my first ever RMC. I'm planning a two-day visit to Six Flags Great America because I know how crowded that park can be ( I mean, I've been there twice, both on a Monday, and the park was CROWD-DED!!!) and I want to try and take on everything. Besides Goliath, I want to ride X-flight and the Whizzer again, plus an assortment of fun-loving flat rides. I hope it's great because that would really be good, and it's good to be great because that's the best!

After a four year hiatus, I finally visited Six Flags America. I got more that just a pass; I've got a GOLD PASS!!!. Went to Mardi Gras area and was impressed how good that area looked. Even thought Ragin' Cajun wasn't running, their other ride, The French Quarter Flyer, was. They did more than place a flying scooter ride in the old Cyclone's spot - they also created a new entrance to keep it closer to the exit and turn the old line station into a picnic shelter. And speaking about Cyclone: no more single rider restrictions! Four years ago, single riders must pair with another to ride Cyclone; now, single riders are allowed. You can't say the same about Rodeo, but that's the way the ride was designed, plus I was able to find another single rider to ride Rodeo with. Overall, not a bad visit. I'm planning some revisits that might include bringing in a friend for free. SIX FLAGS AMERICA - I'M NOT JUST GOOD, I'M GOLDEN!!!

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Methinks a few years ago Cedar Point was considering removing all their old Arrow looping coasters from their parks, so it wasn't just King's Island Vortex, but also Kings Dominion's Anaconda and Carowind's Carolina Cyclone. Then something else happened and those coasters stayed put. As for me, I have no problems riding them all; in fact, I like to ride in the back seat. As for why attendants take to load and unload riders from Firehawk ( not to mention Nighthawk from Carowinds), I think it has to so with the number of restraints each seat has and the way the coaster train was designed. To put it another way, I rather have the attendants make sure and double sure that I'm locked into my seat because when that train flips over I want to be flying along with the track, and not fly head first into the ground. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Went to the park last Saturday, making this my fourth time this season. Now for some thoughts - - As for White Water Canyon, they do have an overhead waterfall ( although it's more of a water flying out falls, but it gets everybody soaked ), but they still need to bring back the waterfall in the log mill. - They had all the waterslides except the funnel running. As for the four slides at the Splash House, they need to speed up the sliders because it takes them too long in between sliders. - If they do put in a water coaster, the area between the funnel and the Baja Curls would be ideal. - I noticed they changed the lights for Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular. No more lights wrapped around the trees. - Next Saturday, the KD40 Celebration Show is set to perform in the Kings Dominion Theater, and the next Saturday after that will be the Wheels Stunt Show. kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!! -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just came back from a trip which included visiting Kings Island on a Wednesday ( June 4 ). On that day, Cincinnati was hit with a double whammy of a T-storm. After the T-storm passed at sometime after three, I decided to head over to the park. I had my CEDAR FAIR PLATINUM PASS on me, so regardless of the day I wouldn't lose any $$$. I arrived at the park at 3:30 p.m. and headed to the BANSHEE. While waiting in line, a rainstorm poured through and the ride was down for an hour. But once the ride was up and running, I got on and rode it. THAT RIDE IS A SCREAM!!! I also got to ride some other coasters with hardly no lines - just walk up and ride. Both BANSHEE and The BEAST I rode twice. The only complaint I had about this day's visit was that there were some flat rides that were down. I did get to ride Scrambler, but Monster, Windseeker, and Shake, Rattle and Roll were closed. At least the coasters and the Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown were running and what I wanted to ride in the first place ( Windseeker and Shake, Rattle, and Roll I can ride at Kings Dominion, but I have to wait until Cedar Point to ride Monster ). -
^Point taken. Next trip to Kentucky Kingdom will be scheduled when the kids aren't in school. One more thing, the park could use a scrambler ride, but I'm sure that might come whenever they open up more sections of the park, get some other coasters running again, and fill that area up with stores, gaming booths, restaurants, and a flat ride. I see a lot of open area waiting to be rebuilt and used again.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've just came back from my trip in which I visited Holiday World on Monday ( June 1) and got to ride nearly everything inside the park ( some attractions I did twice). The crowds were light do to the heavy overcast in which there were some drops of rain and at some times the sun came out to play. After sliding all four slides at Hyena Falls, I had three things to say: One, why did they place Hyena Falls so far away from the other "water"-ful attractions, what were those ground markers that I saw around Hyena Falls for, and will the old Pilgrim Plunge station be used for this upcoming attraction? I'm sure that whatever is going on it'll be another high-class attraction and it'll give Hyena Falls some company. Just go to Kentucky Kingdom and asked T2 how it feels to now be closer to the other attractions and it would say, "I feel like I'm part of the family, but if they could get me fixed up and running, then I would be so happy I'll be pooping rainbows!" Just like that song by The Police - "Take this space between us, fill it some way" ( from the song Oh My God) -
I've just came back from my trip which involved visiting Kentucky Kingdom ( which I did on Tuesday, June 3). Here are my feeling about this park, both good and bad. 1) I'm sure that Lighting Run is a great coaster, but I couldn't ride it due to my size. This has to be the first and only coaster in which I was too big to ride on. Talk about a big letdown. 2) Thunder Run and Roller Skater were great coasters in which I could ride. Thunder Run I rode twice and Roller Skater I rode four times! 3) I rode Deep Water Dive and I liked it! 4) But in order to ride Deep Water Dive I had to wait until 4 p.m. and the line was so long on that ride that by the time I wanted to get on another slide that didn't open until four the line was cut off. Tell me this: does this make any sense to have some slides not open until later and only run for the two hours that were remaining inside the waterpark? 5) Speaking about some rides not running I counted four: Pirate Ship, Breakdance, Tea Cups, and Enterprise. 6) The Bumper Cars might run better if they take at least seven cars out. The track they had was too small to accommodate all the bumper cars they had running and there were some jams, some were so bad the operator had to stop the ride to clear them. 7) I need to talk about The Bella Musica - their Carousel. Besides of having horses, roosters, and a sea dragon, they also have two rocking benches, two smaller circular pavilions that spins in a circle, and an elephant that stays still. This ride would be even greater if they could get it restored, but I'm sure that will be coming. Overall, not a bad park despite the few bumps and bruises. I can see tons of additions and improvements that the park will undergo in the next few years. I must keep in mind that this park was just recently opened after being closed for years, and the amount of work that was done in a short amount of time should be quite an accomplishment itself. Right now, I'm going to grade this park as a C minus, but I'm hoping when I do return to this park within a few years, it'll get a solid A!

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Okay, here's my take on what can happen coming next season. As for the possibility of putting a second ride inside Volcano, I would be all for it, but only if they could make it work. Then again, that's why all the engineers have college degrees so they could take a difficult problem and work it out. I can see either a flat ride or a small family inverted ride ( Why not, Kings Island and Carowinds have one, so why not Kings Dominion?). Waterworks could use another water attraction or two. My vote would be for a water coaster because they are AWESOME!!! Other additions the park could use would include adding an overhead waterfall for White Water Canyon and fixing the last waterfall effect when the raft comes out of the log mill. Also, the Crypts fire and water effects needs fixing. kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!! -
Weird Coaster Facts
palmerleeberry replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Well, well, well, thank you very much for that information; I was always worried about that whenever I got on the Millennium Force. First time I got on and we were being pulled upward towards the top, I was wondering where were the anti-rollback brakes, why we were going up so fast, and praying that the ski lift didn't let go. So if you said was true, then it WORKED on me! -
After the success of WHITE LIGHTING and the expanses of FUN SPOT ACTION PARK, the powers-to-be have decided it's time to add another attraction. Oh, what could this new attraction be? Maybe it can be a dark ride or how about a log flume ride? Those two would be my vote if I was one of those powers-to-be. Just I have said in an earlier post, this is how theme parks are made: they go from being small to becoming king-size.

Whenever I see brand new pictures of the brand new Kentucky Kingdom, I get so excited I could wet my pants . . . Excuse me for a moment . . . Okay, with that taken care of, I just wanted to say that I will be visiting that park in two weeks as part of the three park tour ( Holiday World and Kings Island are the other two parks I shall be visiting ). I'm sure it'll be better compared to my last visit years ago when "Sick Flags" was running it. And since I will be visiting the park on a weekday, I'm hoping the lines won't be too long ( then again, I've visited some parks on a weekday and they were CROWD-DED!!!). Kings Dominion Birthday Bash-May 10th,2014
palmerleeberry replied to CPSFMMCW's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Ah-ha, there you are, the photo trip report I've been waiting for in which I thought it would appear on the main Kings Dominion thread, but appears in this one instead. It appears that the T-storm that hit ( or try to hit) the park didn't ruin the birthday bash, just alter the venues a bit. On the note of the animals that were placed around Safari Village, I should also add that the Peanuts Easter Eggs were still around, although Lucy's and Peppermint Patty's eggs were moved to the ground surrounding the Eiffel Tower. I think they will stay there until the spring bash is over and the "We're open every day" season begins. kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!! -

Well, since CPSFMMCW photo trip report isn't up yet, I guess I give my own trip report. 1) This was the first time I used the All-Day Dining plan. I cashed in my paper at the Border Café to obtain a wristband. I also had my souvenir cup because the dining plan didn't include drinks. I would eat at three different restaurants: Hungry Hippo for burger and fries, Victoria's Pizza for two slices of pepperoni pizza, and the Dinner Bell for chicken tender and fries. A refill for my souvenir cup cost only $1.04, but if you have a season pass on you, then it's ninety-four cents! 2) Got to the park when they opened up and the first ride I got on was THE BERSERKER!!! This ride is celebrating its 30th anniversary! I rode Dominator next, then with the help of my CEDAR FAIR PLATINUM PASS, I was able to pass through and head to Volcano. I also became the first rider on Scrambler ( plus I was the only rider at that time). Soon, the park began filling up and I had no more walk on and ride. 3) Only one ride was announced to be out of service - The Drop Tower. Even though it took them time to get The Crypt up and running, The Hurler was running with two trains. Snoopy's Rocket Express and The Ricochet were both down at the beginning of the day, but as the Rocket Express began running around noontime, the Ricochet didn't start running until a quarter till three. 4) As for the weather, it was mostly cloudy with some drizzle periods ( probably why some rides opened up later than others). Sometime after six, they stopped running the rides due to T-storms in the area. Within a hour, they were back running the rides, but by that time I was leaving the park. 5) Finally, I want to give a shout out to a little girl at the 2:30 karaoke show who sang Katy Perry's "Roar" and did a pretty good job. YOU GO, GIRL!!! Overall, I will plan a return trip when the waterpark and nighttime events open up. I like the All-Day Dining Plan and will likely purchase another one on my next visit. This is my third trip this season and I have plenty of more visits to go. And for all you milestone junkies out there who actually give a darn - Boo Blasters is celebrating its 10th year, Hurler is celebrating its 20th year, The Berserker is celebrating its 30th year, and Woodstock Express is forty years young! kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!! -

^Ah Gee Whiz, and all this time I thought they were saving the RMC treatment for Twisted Twins. What, Rapids won't be ready by the time I get there? I guess that means more ROLLER SKATER ride time for me. Holy DWD, that height looks way taller than I expected! I have three options concerning this slide: pray that it isn't open when I visit the park and just fake my frustration, just say I have a condition preventing me from riding that and stay on the ROLLER SKATER, or just ride the blasted thing and have the whole park hear me screaming like a banshee ( and that's before I get on). Methinks I might consider staying on the lazy river ride and humming Jimmy Buffet tunes. Finally, I have a feeling that the only "Chang" we will have at Kentucky Kingdom is the result of buying a T-shirt for $14.99 with a twenty dollar bill on hand. Think about that one, then you can laugh, groan, or go . ROLLER SKATER - TAKE A RIDE AROUND OUR RINK!!!
