  1. This is exactly why VF does not need to be spending money on a Windseeker. There are far more unique and visually intimidating rides that could be built. I'd love to see a custom S&S freespin before those start to show up everywhere, or a dive machine, or some kind of less common flat. Heck, for the cost of a windseeker, you can get a really nice proslide water coaster. I'd much rather see the park go all out creating something like that than drop in a slightly shorter version of an underwhelming, buggy (maybe they've fixed the issues, maybe not) ride that's located at half the CF parks, at both Adventureland and WOF just a few hours south, and something similar-looking at Mt. Olympus, Six Flags parks and traveling carnivals across the country. I'm not saying it can't happen, but if we're trying to come up with something "unique or better" than the competition, a windseeker is not the way to go.
  2. How far would you go with this? I don't mean to use a slippery slope argument, but really... I think it's a question we need to answer, as "bystanders don't matter" has been used to do horrible things in history. Believe me, I know that boycotting is powerful, but that's exactly why I think a more effective response would just be to mercilessly boycott any business that actually discriminates or publicly supports discrimination. It appears that most people in Indiana have a huge problem with this law, and it's probably safe to assume that it will get overturned as soon as people can be voted out, if not in the next few weeks/months. I totally respect your choice to not go to Indiana, especially if you feel unsafe there, but I'm really not sure the situation requires that.
  3. I haven't been to Knoebels, but for real. Phoenix totally wins this.
  4. This is the greatest thing I've read today.
  5. I doubt it. My guess is now that the re-theme of that area is underway, they won't open any of it back up until everything's done, including Twisted Colossus. I could be wrong, but ideally you'd want to unveil your newly themed area all at once, and not in parts.
  6. Tonight I saw the re-envisioned "Carrie: The musical" in La Mirada. I'm still processing it, but enjoyed it overall. The audience was actually seated on-stage, which was set up to look like a high school gym. It was a very close-up, intimate setting which made for a cool experience. They used a number of cool effects, and actually dumped a bucket of fake blood on Carrie, rather than using projection as some other productions have in the past. The cast seemed to be having a great time, and it was easily the most unique show I've seen. Overall, it didn't wow me the way Wicked and Phantom did when I first saw them, but it was really fun and different. I'd recommend it for anyone in the LA area looking for something to do. It's running for 4 or 5 more days, and tickets are still on sale.
  7. You discovered google maps' pac-man gag today and immediately looked up a park to play it on
  8. Back when I lived in MN full-time, that crane with the basket was out every spring doing track inspections.
  9. ^^There are better ways to deal with this, though. The CF parks I've been to just use hand-held wands on specific days (most often during haunt). Usually they have plenty of security there, and it doesn't slow stuff down much or make the entrance area look ugly. On the contrary, most parks I've been to that have permanent ones installed slow things down a lot. Magic Mountain, for example, often seems like they don't open enough of them up, and you end up waiting in a line every time.
  10. People hesitate to join a 2-person clan for that very reason. If you do this in the future, you'll be more likely to succeed if you can get at least 20-25 people to commit to it before creating the clan. This would have been fun, but I'm reluctant to leave my current clan unless there's evidence I won't be one of 3 people. Sorry!
  11. At least this is going in at a park where what's missing from the lineup is something interactive, rather than something extremely immersive. They thankfully already have that with TMLR and Calico Mine Ride. I'm not expecting it to be a game-changer or a huge letdown. I just see it as welcomed addition to unused space that is another way for guests to have fun in the shade, and challenge each other at something. I could understand complaints about it if they were removing Beary Tales to put this in, but they aren't. That space has sat unused for several years, so anything is welcome.
  12. Idk that I would give this too much weight yet. Someone on instagram saying they saw it doesn't mean much. Especially someone who's assuming a wing coaster is going in the parking lot. However I would be thrilled if this is real. Ever since carowinds announced theirs, I've been hoping we could get surprised with one too, since the parks seem to be announcing these all "oh, by the way..." late in the offseason. I'm not getting my hopes up until we see pictures or hear something from the park. Also, about the parking lot in general: It's been full before. There's usually a few days during high season that cars are directed to park in that field. If the bulldozing is for parking, I doubt it's to replace existing parking with a coaster. They probably just really need more spots, or are expanding the lot to allow for more margin if the north end of it floods again.
  13. Oh boy. The people who aren't madly in love with Fury 325 still think it's a great addition for the park. Nobody has said it's a bad ride, and nobody is saying that it somehow ruins the hobby for them. They simply have different things they are looking for in a ride (ejector air and quick transitions vs. lots of sustained speed and floater air, for example). Unfortunately, some people seem incredibly defensive over this ride, and that,if anything, is more likely to make the hobby less enjoyable. Nobody is trash-talking Fury. If it's not their favorite thing, that's fine. It doesn't cater to them specifically, nor is it meant to. This ride turned out how the park wanted it to, and that makes it a success that nobody in the enthusiast community is denying. I'm happy for Carowinds - I think this has really taken them to the next level, and I can fully appreciate it in that sense, even if I think I305 or Maverick is more fun for me personally. Look at it this way - Most of the people giving it "standard B&M" reviews likely guessed that's what it would be from the day the layout was released, and they still journeyed out to Carowinds to go ride it. As long as they don't cause pain, almost all coasters are fun and worth riding to me, even though I prefer the more intense, limit-pushing stuff.
  14. I agree, actually. It certainly does slow down a bit at that corner, but by the way people constantly bring it up in this thread you'd think it was way worse than it really is. It's never been enough of a delay to make me frustrated, and how people can be more focused on that than the slide tower is beyond me Edit: It also looks better now than before. The path after the first narrow section looks much wider and more open now than it was, at least according to what I'm seeing on google maps
  15. Wow things are really coming along this morning! http://64.122.237.18/ Looks like at least two of the capsules are in place, and they're almost done putting the 90' speed slides up.
  16. I'm pretty sure it was Magic Mountain, since they had it spring of 2014. But there could have been one in between
  17. Hmm... sounds like you're talking about the land in this general vicinity? If I'm right, then they're digging awfully close to the river. It's a little too early to guess exactly what's going on. No. He's talking about the field that's to your right side when first pulling in to the parking lot. On Ripcord, people swing out straight towards it.
  18. Yes, but not as a separate credit for every location it operates in. And, like RC dude, I usually just figure out what company is operating it, go online, and make sure I haven't been on it somewhere else.
  19. While I agree, if you want to really see the low point of the off season, you should check out some of the other threads, particularly from parks that are closed all winter. Yikes. I'm really excited to see this "top-gun" get put together. The idea of racing with train that's upside down and directly above you is one of the most interesting elements of this ride, IMO.
  20. Mine is just a picture I took while on a walk-back of Highroller at Valleyfair. I guess I just liked the combination of colors, so I went with that and haven't changed it in several years.
  21. Caught up in you - 38 Special
