  1. Completely agreed. Some may be surprised to hear me say this...but there's nothing wrong with a smooth wooden coaster. And they're not all that rare, either. I've come across them in a variety of shapes, sizes, and ages. Yep. I've never understood why some believe that wooden coasters need to beat the crap out of riders to be any good.
  2. The original Nut Tree was a restaurant with an air strip; some interesting shops (including a cool toy shop); and even a small train that went from the toy shop, around some nice gardens to the strip, then back. It was a bit of a "destination" in its heyday (the 1960s to '70s), mainly because the restaurant was very good and catered to families. My family used to go there once or twice a year (it was about a two hour drive) as a "treat."
  3. I herebydub Guy . . . Party Spock!
  4. ^The main thing I remember is getting lectured by two robots. One very odd coaster, indeed. I wouldn't mind seeing Gerstlauer trains on SDC's new coaster. The ones they built for New Texas Giant are pretty good.
  5. I agree that the chicken isn't as good as I remember it being when I was a kid; then again, was anything we liked to eat as a kid really all that good? It's still pretty good fried chicken, and the biscuits and boysenberry pie are good.
  6. And they'll have the most rocks in Missouri.
  7. ^It could just as easily refer to both. Time will tell.
  8. I would love to see the park do some serious work on Ghostrider to being it back to its former glory. I never had the chance to ride it when it was in its prime.
  9. So, Holiday Inn Express is the official hotel chain of the Jurassic era? Who knew?
  10. ^I agree. But it's going to take a lot of work to improve the guest service at this resort.
  11. I think a new launched Premier ride would be great for Magic Mountain. Would the largest element be named "Mama Cass"?
  12. ^I think you're overreacting a bit. I doubt that the "traditional" wooded coaster is going to disappear.
  13. Well I base my comment off of a fact someone mentioned with no backing on Mice Chat. Something about how they only worked the few months after opening (one of those effects), and how they would like to see it working again. I don't fully believe the claim, but the reason I ask is why would they put doors there if they weren't going to open or close? Doors (like barrels) = theming?
  14. If you went south on I-5, you went past the exit for Tracy. And for Vernalis, Westley, Patterson, Los Banos . . . Not the most exciting drive in the world.
  15. So its cursed? I agree that Bay Area residents aren't too inclined to visit the Central Valley unless 1) they have relatives there or 2) they're just passing through on their way to LA. Tracy has developed into a "Bay Area suburb," though, as have some of the other towns along I-5.
  16. People still look at that site?
  17. ^That would make Six Flags the only park chain with WiFi-equipped animals--brillant!
  18. ^"Personal radar" and night vivison goggles. I have nothing against plenty of fog at Halloween events, but KD can go a bit overboard (but in a good way).
  19. This new park would have to compete against Stockton's Pixie Woods. Home of "Folding Chair: The Ride."
  20. I'm sure the sprawling metropolises of Vernalis, Westley, Patterson (my hometown and the Apricot Capital of the World), and Newman are all angling for a piece of this action. The Highway 33 corridor is where it's at, people!
  21. While Tracy is the "crossroads of the Central Valley" (two major interstates, I-5 and I 580, branch off from there), I am, at best, dubious about this project. While it could be a good thing for the Central Valley, I don't see it drawing much traffic from the Bay Area. Here's Tracy on a map.
  22. Then you'd better stay away from my hometown during the first weekend in June. That lunch looked great!
  23. More like pick which hammer you'd like to use to beat your brains out.
