Name chosen for new BGE coaster?
pvcoasterguy replied to Jon Sabo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It just doesn't have the fun factor of SheiKra's name. I mean, you can make countless Shakira jokes with SheiKra's name. Anyway, should be an interesting ride. SheiKra was a really fun, intense ride. -
I don't believe stuff I read off screamscape, even if it may turn out to be true. The credibility just isn't there. If this does happen, I would be very disappointed. While I do get a tad queasy from the current ride, it has a certain charm to it. And I love the Back to the Future movies. To me, it would be a terrible loss, and the Simpsons simply won't be as good (IMO).

Photo TR Rheinkirmus in Dusseldorf, Germany
pvcoasterguy replied to MrMorgan's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
(Large sigh...) It's so disappointing that America doesn't get these great carnivals that Europe has. I mean, who wouldn't want to ride a Schwarzkopf at a carnival? It would be so much fun. Great TR! The pictures were really good. Anyway, has anyone been on EuroStar? How is it? -
In my book, it seems like Vekoma has to shape up with the competition in the industry now. Gerstlaurer's rides cost about as much as Vekoma's (or sometimes even less), and this ups the competition between the two companies. Also, Intamin and B&M cause competition for Vekoma. Vekoma probably sat down one day and thought, "Either we need to advance our technology, or we'll be toast." Vekoma's new rides are very nice, and hopefully all their new rides will be as good.

^ Yep. You can get really good deals on international travel if you just shop around and book at the right times. (Far before departure).

What system(s) do you have?
pvcoasterguy replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Random, Random, Random
Game Boy Color Game Boy Advance SP Nintendo DS Nintendo 64 Nintendo Gamecube (it was a really good deal- like $50) PS1 PS2 Xbox -
^ Exactly. BUMP!

Just wanted to chime in on this. Using your passport for your ID at an airport (whether travelling domestically or internationally) saves significant time. Why? Because passports are not easy to duplicate or get fake ones of and all US passports are the same. While the TSA people may stare at your ID (driver's liscence, etc.) for awhile, they basically just glance at your passport.

The Official Nintendo Wii Discussion Thread
pvcoasterguy replied to MiamiBoii4392's topic in Random, Random, Random
Wow. I'm getting really excited about this. I may actually get a baseball game because it will actually feel like I'm playing baseball. Or, I may actually get a golf game because it will feel like I'm playing golf. Simply playing with a controller doesn't have the realism for me. I'd rather just play the real game. Until this. The controller is so cool. It will make many games much more interesting. I could easily see a sword fighting game (like the one in the arcade) coming for the Wii. There are unlimited possibilities for this, and I hope that Nintendo will have a good run with the Wii. The Gamecube kind of got shafted by the game manufacturers. -
We had a huge thunderstorm here yesterday, which cooled it off. And it is still cooler than before. But that thunderstorm almost made me pee my pants. I had never heard thunder so loud... jeez.

Great paper! "I believe I recall Andrew crying about something…probably about Banana Republic running out of kakis or something." LOL... that's great. I'm interested to see what happens.

I saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time yesterday. Wow. What a weird movie (in a good sense). I loved it, though. It was really funny, and the music was pretty darn good. But Tim Curry was great in his role, and it was hilarious seeing him as a transvestite. My favorite parts were the Time Warp and the "Sweet Transvestite" song. Definately need to get this one on DVD.

Lagoon Discussion Thread
pvcoasterguy replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ True. But their reliabilty factor just isn't up to par in comparison with comparable rides. (Especially on the big rockets like TTD and KK). While I understand that any new technology has its downtime, TTD in its first year was awful. If you look at a ride like Powder Keg, an S&S coaster with a compressed air launch, there is hardly any downtime at all. None of the infamous "cable snapping" stories. While the Intamin rocket technology is cool, they need to get the reliability factor up before more parks get the ride. In addition, there are comparable alternatives, and I this is why I believe Gerstlauer's launched coaster is going to be a winner. Gerstlauer used their brains when they designed their launched coaster. They decided to use a fly wheel. But the fly wheel isn't used for the launch; rather to generate the power needed for the LIM's/LSM's that the coaster uses. That'll cut down on necesary power significantly, and is just a great idea. I'm looking forward to see what Zierer has to offer. While they're not a big manufacturer, they look promising. Their coasters are incredibly smooth, moreso than B&M's even. Hopefully this coaster will deliver, and give Zierer a bigger market share. -

Hmm. Sounds cool. And it will probably be smooth, because Zierers are the smoothest coasters I have ever been on. I'm sure it will work better than the Intamin Rockets. Because everything works better than those. -

^ Prices are easily researchable from the website of the attraction(s) that you are going to. -
Dude, the ugly handcuff uniform is for my hometown hockey team! I didn't even know until I looked really close at the logo on it. The weird thing is that we're supposed to be the Quad-City Mallards. What does a cowboy uniform have to do with that? I have no idea.

^ Aww... she's so cute. I really like the first and third pictures. I love cats.

Amazing water slides
pvcoasterguy replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Wow, that looks really cool. Kind of like a new version of the tube chute, but without the tubes. Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher, and Downhill Double Dipper were all insane at Blizzard Beach. The Master Blaster at the Kalahari (Wis. Dells) has some great airtime on the hills, and is pretty crazy when you get towards the weight limit. I also like any of the older-style body slides that they now make you wrap yourself up in a mat on now. Whoever designed those was crazy. Noah's Ark has some of them, as does my hometown. They are crazy fast, and have some great, crazy features. One by my house has a crazy fast helix of doom, and the other has a big, crazy s-bend drop followed by a really high banked turn. You go so fast on them, it is crazy. Unfortunately, most of the plain-jane body slides today are pretty dull these days (there are some exceptions).
