What's Your Coaster Philosophy?
GwaziBSRider1 replied to Coaster Cow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I've noticed that I'm starting to become the same way. I can remember going to parks and riding nothing other than coasters, but nowadays, I ride more flats and such than before. The only time I can really remember making a sole park trip that wasn't focused on coasters was WDW in January. Obviously, they were a priority, but I ended up only liking Space Mountain and BTMR (the new Mine Train wasn't open and, honestly, the others are awful). Then again, anyone who goes to a Disney park just for the coasters is an idiot anyway. -

I had forgotten about the free ornament promotion, so it was quite a surprise when I got it in the mail! I didn't even notice the card until I was making sure the envelope was empty before I threw it away! -

As someone who works on a lot of construction projects, I can assure you that the Holidays are taken into account when planning the schedule. They're well on track to having it ready for opening day. -
I don't visit the same parks enough anymore to really have high lap counts (nor do I count anyway). I suppose I've racked up a bunch of laps on Millennium Force, Phantom's Revenge, Loch Ness Monster, Sooperdooperlooper, Leviathan, Skyliner, and Lightning Racer. Those are the only ones I can think of that I've "power marathoned" at least once.

True! I own one, actually! The person below takes personal offense when someone criticizes one of their favorite rides/parks.

^ I too rode in the same row, but I sat in the inside seat. It was pretty smooth, actually. Maybe try an inside seat next time. -
Yes. I just bought my tree yesterday! Will you still have your decorations up in 2015?

I care about it since I still don't have that damn kiddie credit. Why hasn't Darien Lake been put out of its bloody misery yet? -
GAME: Finding the Similarities

Both have/had Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loops in storage. Adventureland (IA) and Indiana Beach -
4/5 - Never thought I'd see Diamondback top a chart that also has Bizarro and I-305, but still all good coasters in your top 10.

I watched "Star Trek: Into Darkness" for the first time, and I both love and hate this film. By itself and as a part of the Prequel trilogy, it's excellent. However, I absolutely hate it when compared to the entire genre. It drives me crazy how it completely rewrote Khan's plot line. If you're going to make a prequel, at least make sure that the characters line up with what happens in the "later" films!

Photo TR: An Epic Theme Park Summer
GwaziBSRider1 replied to rcdude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice culture TR, AJ! I tremendously enjoyed my first visit to Coney Island this summer, so I'll comment on your opinions. Cyclone - Perfect summary, although I bumped my elbow very hard on the side of the train on one of the turns. Soarin' Eagle - Think those two are bad? Try Rye's up the road. Thunderbolt - I actually really enjoyed this coaster. Dare I say, it's better than the Cyclone? (GASP!) I didn't find it extremely rough, but it definitely did jostle a lot. I really think the trains are the problem with this ride. Why Zamperla decided that metal restraints with worthless straps were a good idea, I'll never know. I'd also like to throw in my opinion on the Wonder Wheel (because I didn't think you mentioned it). It's incredibly disappointing. The two kiddie coasters on Coney Island are more exciting than the "coaster" part of the wheel. Also, you didn't ride the kiddie coaster in Central Park? How dare you! -
What's Your Coaster Philosophy?
GwaziBSRider1 replied to Coaster Cow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seems like I'm in the minority here, but coasters are still my #1 priority. I ride every coaster with an open mind, and it's very rare that I can't find at least one good thing about the ride. However, I'll still usually walk around the park and ride any interesting flats. I love classic flats and anything unique. Theming and whatnot is nice, but it's definitely not necessary for me. I would say theming is "icing on the cake" for me. -
Will B&M ever top the charts?
GwaziBSRider1 replied to Password121's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wouldn't say B&M has gotten lazy at all. Yes, they haven't been as cutting-edge in the last several years, but in the end, does "cutting-edge" always mean a #1 attraction? Of course, not. But they have taken two existing coaster types and made them more marketable: the flying coaster and the wing coaster. -

^ Darien Lake's Superman is most certainly not a clone just because they cloned it for Six Flags America. Hell, it was only cloned once, unlike Batman the Ride. You wouldn't call SheiKra, Manta, Roar, Bizarro, or Oblivion clones, would you? They've all been cloned once, too. -

^ My parents owned stock in Cedar Fair for years. They didn't make much money off it when they got out of the stock market, but it was always fun to read the investor reports.
