  1. Considering it says that it disconnected at the lift catch, that makes it extremely odd. The only way I can think of it returning "normally" is if they sent the train up the lift and the last car was pushed through by the rest of the train.
  2. I'm a fan of dive machines, so I wouldn't complain about getting one. BUT it is one of many proposals. I'd take this with a grain of salt for now.
  3. I actually do think BBW is better than Verbolten, but I wouldn't consider it to be the worst replacement out there. I really can't think of any awful replacements where I've ridden the old and the new. As for downgrades, that damn Premier train for Goliath. Even though I didn't ride it with the Vekoma train, I'm still putting my vote for it. From my understanding, they took a great ride and turned it into a torture device.
  4. I agree with a new wooden coaster. After Son of Beast's SBNO and closure, a woodie is really needed. GCI, GG, or RMC would be nice.
  5. Great TR! If/when I visit Blackpool, I'll have to remember those parts for sale. I know I'll want one of each!
  6. That's probably the most realistic place for the next big coaster. Even though people complain about how rough Vortex is getting, it still pulls in a lot of riders. It's not going anywhere any time soon.
  7. I've been at work for three hours now, and I've spent all but 30 minutes on TPR...
  8. Probably going to go see Big Eyes later this week. I really want to see Inherent Vice as well, but it doesn't seem to be playing near me.
  9. December 2013 at some steakhouse in Texas. When was the last time you ordered a steak and it wasn't cooked how you asked?
  10. Exterminator - Kennywood
  11. H: Home Alone
  12. That GEICO commercial with the people yelling "HUMP DAY!" and such at the camels makes me want to murder its creator(s).
  13. Thank you for posting this, Robb! It brought back a lot of memories riding this fantastic coaster. I'll never forget the creepy video they played in the queue line, the howl at the top of the first lift, rampaging through the village, and the squirt of mist at the bottom of the second drop.
  14. I had never heard of these things until a few weeks ago when I read the article about them in South Korea. Not a fan of selfies anyway, so I'm all in favor of a ban.
  15. ^ That sounds about right. I can remember seeing all six trains running, but it's definitely been a while. I too wish they'd go ahead and put the spares on Mine Ride. Does anybody know why they haven't still?
  16. Absolutely gorgeous pictures! Thanks for sharing!
  17. Is that the Rollercoaster (Nickelodean Streak) at Blackpool?
  18. THIS. Hearing twenty of them bounce at once drives me up the freaking wall! Fortunately, I didn't see a lot of them the last few years. Hopefully, this trend will continue...
  19. Pittsburgh "local" chiming in here! I can say this with 99.9% certainty: you will NOT get a direct flight from England to Pittsburgh. There was one to/from London, but it discontinued several years ago. You might be able to fly in/out of Philadelphia. I hope you will have some other free time in Pittsburgh because we do have our share of interesting things. A few examples would be the Monongahela and Duquesne Inclines (two of the last existing public transportation Funiculars) and the Andy Warhol Museum (the world's largest museum dedicated to a single artist). Rental cars are cheaper when rented and dropped off in the same location. Most companies charge a fee when dropped off somewhere else; this fee varies by company, locations, etc. Also, some companies have geographical restrictions on places to take the vehicle. They'll charge you so much per mile traveled outside of that area. As for driving, I'm personally more likely to do heavy traveling after visiting the park. That being said, you may be more of a morning person and want to drive earlier. It's really all up to you. Just be careful of the metro areas during "rush hour" times. For the longer drives, you may want to stay in between the parks. Since you're going to be visiting Kennywood and the city, I'd get a hotel Downtown for both. It's not long drive from the city to the park. At Cedar Point, I'd stay on site for the extra hour in the park each day. I would definitely invest in the season passes for both Cedar Fair and Six Flags. Buy a Platinum Pass from Dorney and a Gold Pass from SFNE, and you'll also get free parking from everybody. I would e-mail both parks to see about International purchases. For the BGW coaster tours, you'll have to look on their calendar as they're not offered every day. This is a very ambitious itinerary, but it will be one hell of a trip! Hope all of this info helps you out!
  20. Love the poster and shirt as well! I've never been to Holliwood Nights event before, but maybe I'll change that this year!
  21. Robotic is actually a really good description of those airtime hills. You get incredible ejector, but you legs slam into the bar (much like Skyrush, but not nearly as painful). The banking before and after the turnaround is very strange looking, but the trims prevent them from being a problem.
  22. I liked the paint job before it faded. Now, it just looks awful. I'm glad to see it's getting repainted.
  23. When I was a kid, I hated Magnum and I slowly started liking it more and more as I continued to ride it. About five years ago, I really started to love it. Lately, it has gotten more painful, but I still thoroughly enjoy it. It's been said before, but I'll say it again...if the lap bars had more padding, it would be more popular.
  24. I'm sure SFGAm gets more visitors than SFStL does. Just look at all of the horror stories about Goliath's line. I'm sure you wouldn't see that happen here. Also, I love how everybody complaining about SFStL moved over here from the discussion thread.
