Will B&M ever top the charts?
GwaziBSRider1 replied to Password121's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even though I have more Intamins in my top 10, I find B&M to be slightly better overall. There are rides from both companies that I really don't care for, but there are more Intamins than B&Ms on that list. I get more excited riding a new-to-me B&M versus an Intamin. As for their newer portfolios, the B&Ms win for me. I haven't met a new B&M that I didn't absolutely love, but Intamins newer rides have been "hit or miss" for me. As for RMC, I will say that the two I've ridden are both excellent, but I'll still consider B&M to be my favorite company until RMC proves themselves with excellent rides over a longer span of time. -
Do kids still identify with Looney Tunes?
GwaziBSRider1 replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I would argue that Peanuts is slightly more identifiable just because of the Holiday specials. With how much they've all been aired over the years and parents showing them to their kids, I'm sure they're a bit more well-known. We'll see what kind of impact this new film has on the children's areas in the Cedar Fair parks. With Looney Tunes, however, the only place I know where I can see the original Merry Melodies and what not are Six Flags parks. I do enjoy watching them while I'm waiting in line. Truthfully, it's the only thing on their queue line TV's that's actually worth watching. There is that new show (which I'm most certainly not a fan of), but I'm not sure how many viewers it pulls in. I suppose enough kids know about it if they're continuing to build new rides themed to it. Another great point was made earlier about the ever-changing modern line-ups of cartoons. The Nickelodeon areas in the old Paramount parks were most certainly off the times when Cedar Fair took charge. Several of those shows were long off the air with their characters forgotten. The same can be said for the Hanna-Barbera areas that stood previously, and even the Fivel themed area in Universal Studios. If parks were to seriously try to keep their kids' areas relevant to what's on TV or in the movies, they'd be unwisely investing their money in retheming more often. -

Granted, but instead they charge you a fee for using a seat! I wish flying internationally wasn't as expensive. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

^ I remember that, too. That was incredibly bizarre, but maybe their hours are better when Cedar Point is open. Also, there doesn't seem to be another Quaker Steak in Sandusky. They'll definitely be bringing in a lot of locals with this, too. -

I've noticed that service and food quality seems to vary by restaurant. Hopefully, Cedar Point's will be one of the good ones! -

Will B&M ever top the charts?

^^ Hmm...I do believe that is incorrect. Do a quick search and you'll find that they're usually in the middle or bottom. For 2014: Mack - 11 Vekoma - 11 Zamperla - 9 Intamin - 7 B&M - 5 Zierer - 4 Gravity Group - 2 RMC - 2 S&S - 2 GCI - 0 -

^^ I definitely agree with you. I've never understood why people bash B&M so much with their newer "boring" and "forceless" coasters. Frankly, I'd rather have a ride that's smooth and "forceless" than something that's too intense and beats the daylights out of me. I personally find rides like Leviathan, GateKeeper, and Banshee to be incredible, five star rides that I can ride for hours on end. As of the topic, B&M will always place well on the Golden Ticket Awards. Yes, some of the rides that place are undeserving, but this isn't the place for that discussion. I think one of the major problems with B&M coasters not placing higher on the Mitch Hawker polls is the smaller number of enthusiasts who travel to ride some of the "crazier" B&Ms like Sky Scrapper and Hair Raiser, or to a lesser extent Nemesis. Yes, I know he uses all of those equations and so forth to remove it, but a larger pool of data is always better and leads to better accuracy. A ride like Maverick or New Texas Giant that have both had thousands of poll takers ride it will simply do better than a ride like Sky Scrapper that's only had a hundred or so. -

Granted, but the restraints will be so tight that everyone gets incredibly painful bruises! I wish Six Flags America would get another good coaster. -

I haven't had "the Christmas spirit" for a few years now. I would say that it's caused by the ever increasing commercialization of the Holiday season. The corporate greed has taken the fun out of it. -

Screaminkid2005's 2013 Coaster Adventures!
GwaziBSRider1 replied to screaminkid2005's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
The "big three" as I call it (Blue Streak, Tumble Bug, and Devil's Den) are all great rides, especially the Blue Streak! Sure, it's a bit painful, but that airtime in the back is insane! I remember being there with TPR in 2012, and there was a girl on the tour who'd never been on a woodie before. The rider cam from her ride in the back seat was simply amazing to watch! As for the other two rides, the Tumble Bug rides much better than the other one (Kennywood). Conneaut Lake runs theirs much faster with a much longer cycle than Kennywood does. Also, don't forget that Devil's Den is one of two remaining Pretzel Gravity Dark Rides (the other being at Camden Park in Huntington, WV). It's a fun ride, but the one at Camden is in much better shape. Great TR, though! Looking forward to your Waldameer visit! -

Hi GwaziBSRider1. Cheryl got Pteranodon Flyers the old-fashioned way, by creepily asking other guests if she could ride with their kid. You need a strong stomach to try this method, and I wouldn't recommend it for a single male. We were able to make arrangements with Playland at Rye to enter the park and ride Kiddie Coaster before park opening in exchange for financial consideration. Maybe we'll meet you at a TPR event or on a TPR trip someday! Thanks for the response, Martin! I figured that's how Cheryl got the Pteranodon Flyers credit, but I was hoping it would be a less creepy way. Hopefully, we'll meet again on another TPR tour!
