  1. I like to think of this as something Coastery. While it may not have the traditional drops and hills, this looks , coastery, enough for me. I like big drops, big hills and turns, and all that other stuff, but as long as it's fun,who really cares?
  2. Noooo, not the Paratrooper going. Love that ride at FS. Oh well, at least the replacement ride is going to be good. Love the inverting Frisbees. A good choice for a replacement.
  3. Ape, just wanted to say something about what I saw in your pics. The first pic at the Studios, I saw a family all rarin' to go. I loved the last pic of your family where I could see one very tired, but very happy family. Looks like you all had a great day. Thanks for sharing your memories, very nice. This is why I love coming to TPR, to see the happy memories. ( and it makes me want to go there again)
  4. That's shaping up to be a nifty little coaster. Actually, It's much larger and more intense looking than I thought it would be for a kids' park. Cool.
  5. ^ Please save the political rants for some other political site, not on this site for coasters, amusement parks, and fun. I don't think anyone wants that here.
  6. Yes, Funspot does close White Lightning for maint. I was there once when they were retracking the ride so didn't get to ride it that day. Still had fun and went back a month later and it was done and running great as usual. Didn't mind WL was closed as I have a season pass. I believe they posted the maint closure dates on their website shortly before the work started. The work was done right before IAAPA , IIRC.
  7. While I think the rename of Ricochet may sound odd for adults, kids are going to eat this name up. The name hits right in the targeted age group. A lot of kids are going to be wanting to ride and pestering moms and dads excitedly, they can't wait to go on Apple Zapple, please mommy, please daddy, let's go on Apple Zapple. Then tell their friends when they get back home, they rode Apple Zapple. It's catchy for the kids.
  8. Just got back from FunSpot in Kissimmee and had a blast. No pics, but just wanted to say, if you are in the Orlando area, don't pass this park up. Currently they are offering the wristband pass and for only 10 bucks more you can add the SkyCoaster to your adventure. I have the season pass and this month was bring a friend for free days and brought a newbie. They were blown away with this little park. (Jan, May, and Nov, bring a friend free days.) No pics, but Mine Blower (6 rides) is running great ! Dang that coaster is intense. The Flying Bobs they have also was running an insane program forwards and backwards. Don't know if it was because it is slow season or not. Also the Screaming Swings were being rebuilt and the new location will be awesome. They are going over the Midway and also on the edge of the lake. Mixed the rides up with a few beers during their evening Happy Hour and it was nirvana.
  9. It looks like Space Car Coaster is going to be on many peoples' bucket list.
  10. ^ Blasphemy ! Heretic ! The Coaster Gods are not amused !
  11. Wow, upset the park is open xmas day ? Have they even tried to get in the Tampa park on xmas ? It goes to capacity. Then of course there's the Disney parks and Universal. DW has to close the gates due to hitting capacity. I can pretty much tell what crowd is against the park being open, and obviously it isn't the popular opinion.
  12. "*I may or may not have eaten psychedelic drugs at an all-night rave there once." quote from Boldy. giggle.
  13. The temps going down line, giggle ! Even though BGT is my home park and have been there like a really smart million times, (ahem) I still am captivated by others pictures and trip reports of the place. It really is a very unique and beautiful place. Love the report
  14. I don't get the lap bar on a wheel that takes 15 minutes to complete 1 circuit. Odd.
  15. " Lorrainne " from reading it's past posts seems to be nothing more than a bitter troll. Granted, the park has it's problems (yes, I know that's an understatement ) but at least someone there is trying. And at 10 bucks for an all day pass it's an amusingly good deal.
  16. That was a cool bit of history and information. Nice.
  17. The BGT crowds should be pretty light as it is after the holiday rush. Xmas day is slammed and up till New Years. After that it tends to die down. If you are staying in O-Town, don't miss a late night stop at Fun Spot Orlando which is just across the highway from Universal. They are open till midnight. If you are staying near Kissemmee, the Fun Spot there is also open till midnight and is well worth the stop. You'll kick yourself if you don't try either Fun Spots, trust me.
  18. Oh boy, here I go, we no longer have to ride a spin and puke. Okay, sorry, but to be honest, the new unveiling is pretty gross. (please don't ban me)
  19. Ah Drat! Sorry we missed you Boldy. We met up with my parents and sister the day after you were at FunSpot. Saturday was a lot busier. We had a 3 train wait for Freedom Flyer and White Lightning. If there is one thing to prove you are only as old as you want to feel, look no further than my parents. They took 3 rides on FF and 2 on White Lightning. Mind you my father is 85, going on 86, and mom is going to hit 80 next year!!!! Don't have a lot of pics (we were having too much fun) but here's a few of them enjoying the rides. They hit up most of the major rides such as, Rip Curl, Tilt-a-whirl, Scrambler, the go carts to name a few. It just goes to show, age is a state of mind, and no coaster shall go unconquered !! mom and dad scram- Dad in front, Mom in the back, 1rst time ever to ride a go cart, at 80 ! Ok Ok, I am the product of those 2.
  20. I really think this should be posted as " Only in America"
  21. ^ Wait and see if the crowds warrant a fast pass. Hubs and I took my parents on Xmas day and we had to park in the waterpark parking lot. Good grief the crowds were huge, BUT, the lines were not that long. We waited 45 minutes at peak hour for Cheetah Hunt. Your visit will be no where near as crowded earlier in the day. Yes, it will get busy as darkness rises. (but it's lots of families with kids to see the darkness lights rise, not the thrill ride crowd) giggle giggle.
  22. The big question now is, what's the place like today?
  23. Please, would someone buy Twister. A lot of parks, ie Cedar Point, used to have them. One of my faves back then especially if you had a good ride op controlling it.
  24. ^ 2 easy solutions here. 1. Laminate it yourself or 2. wrap it in a strip of packing tape. Both are preserved, super cheap to do, and relatively waterproof. Problem solved.
  25. ^ I forgot about the I Drive service. I can vouch that I have seen it picking up and dropping off people in the parking lot of Fun Spot.
