  1. ^ That's part of the reason I love it.
  2. I don't know if it will happen. If it does, coool, if it doesn't, aaaw. but really, I hope it does 'cause then I will be the happiest lil goat on the planet!
  3. The original, can't be beat. How I wish one would come back in the states. Alas, it is too intense for the US.
  4. The house looked ok, UNTIL, I saw that. We have a wine rack that holds 249 bottles, but that , in a home, looks like nirvana to me
  5. I don't get all the disgruntled posts about the park. I think it is a very well rounded park that appeals to the entire family. From the little tykes to the thrill seeker and everyone in between. Yes Hurler is something that needs to eventually be dealt with, but C'mon, it not running, is that going to totally destroy what KD is? In the words of the GREAT CHARLIE BROWN, "oh good grief!
  6. Tb - cool you found it. It really is a neat show. It really makes you appreciate all that BGT does. Sometimes as park people , wanting nothing but the rides, we do tend to forget all that the amazing things they do. And Bert, I was going to say something about your lil ahem "animal" post but there are a few here on the site that throw shade when I post, and not in a good way. So sorry we missed you when you were in town.
  7. Ok works now. Cool history of the trains. (one of them from KD )
  8. Would like to read it but Wiki doesn't have it listed yet.
  9. ^ I rode RC 48 at the Florida State Fair, and well, it was something, I'll give it that. It was a definite OMFG ride. Glad I got to ride it though. Actually twice, in the rain. The second time was to see if I was on some kind of .....???
  10. I have always been intrigued by this place, yet I hardly hear anything about it. It looks like a blast. How is the "coaster" ? It looks like so much fun.
  11. ^ I will second that on the buffet . I do that every time now when I do a full day at the park. It is a great value. (especially on holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.) In fact that has become our Christmas tradition now with my mom and dad, Dad is in his 80's, mom is near 80. The food, the wine, great. Then right after we all get in line for Cheetah. The perfect way to spend a holiday imho.
  12. ^ Wildlife Docs is on ABC channels, usually on saturday mornings. The animal care center at BGT is always open to go through but the exams are generally in the morning. It is random but the park says it's a good bet around 10 am to see the "action". Even when there aren't any exams etc going on there is a staff member in the public areas of the Center that will be more than glad to talk at length about the exam rooms you are seeing and what goes on. And when I say at length, I'm not kidding. It's very informative.
  13. While I very much like KD, Jeez louise. I thought drinking might help with this thread as it is now but I fear something stronger may be in order. ( not really, but it is a thought )
  14. ^ It's kind of become our saturday morning routine at home. We play a little game of where is that spot they're filming in the show? It is also fascinating to go into the animal hospital to watch the exams. They have employees mixing with guests to explain what's going on. It's neat to have this as a home park, where you can just drop in for a bit to see something like this, ride a coaster, grab a bacon pretzel and be home by noon to do other stuff.
  15. ^ If you ever watch Wildlife Docs on sat. mornings, you will love BGT. It's filmed there. The best time to view the Docs are in the morning during the week. It is really cool to see the docs in action.
  16. I am kind of puzzled why people think Snoopy ( who I love btw ) would be a spokesperson ? He never speaks, but he is very emotional.
  17. Fun bits of trivia, I like. I need to show these stats to people I know that think amusement parks and coasters are an American (USA, specifically) phenomena .
  18. The tea cups ride at Knoebels is a 2 circle kiddie version of Cuddle Up. I was really surprised when I saw it. Alas though, it is the tame kiddie version.
  19. Loving this trip report. I absolutely love Montreal, so I can't wait to see the rest of this segment. Oddly enough, I have been to Montreal many times, but only in the winter. Which is stunning in the winter BTW. It was always combined with a ski week at Mt Tremblant. Looking forward to your summer pics.
  20. Indoor Iceberg/Cuddle ups are (well, were) a blast. Unlike modern tea cup rides, you didn't control the spin. The ride and your weight distribution did. That and the fact that each cup ran the entire floor circuit, going into each circle . When the car switched to a different cicle you had a directional change which spun you the other way, which could lead to some very intense forces. Very disconcerting. Each time you rode, it was a different experience. PTC Cuddle Ups are one ride I wish they would bring back. There are a few videos out there from old time parks if you want to see how odd they were. here's a link to one.
  21. ^ Hey you forgot the crazy Wipeout. The best of the Wipeouts/trabants I've ever experienced. We spent the whole day there yet didn't get to see and do everything. Ran out of time. Can't wait to go back.
  22. I have to agree with Waldameer also. The view of the Lake Erie and beach from the top of RFII and the drop tower is one of the most stunning. As is the drive on the highway under RFII.
  23. Cool to see your pics of Canobie. It does look like a cool little park. Ye ole Boston area looks really good. Thanx.
