Making the national news everywhere now. Love the 15 year old boy and his dad that were freezing cold and scared the gondola was going to drop at any minute. I do agree though, seems odd they had to evacuate everyone and not have some backup to pull them back in. So is this the end of that ride now? Bummer!

Taylor's Coaster (and Food) Adventures

^That's what I so love about the way we've been doing Japan trips lately! Everyone goes to parks together and doesn't have to worry about anything. Then there's free time to explore and do other stuff and share what you've found with friends! Ugh, I love Japan!!! -

^Linking a ticket to Fastpass is not an additional expense. Fastpass is included. -

^How much freedom do you have at the parks when you're there with your school? I thought usually those groups are pretty scheduled out and told where and when to be. -

I'm really trying not to blame Merlin here, but I just see so many closures and money saving since they took over. -

This is what killed me the most!!! You pay a premium to stay at the resort, the park closes at like 4 or 5pm...and so does EVERYTHING ELSE!!! Keep some stuff open for the resort guests. -

Once again, great TR! Really love reliving the trip through your eyes...wait did that sound creepy?!?! -
^&^^Yeah, but I think the joke is that even when the park was weekends only during the off season they would close ALL THE TIME due to some light sprinkles or cold weather. Having the park now open 365 with rides down and randomly closing all the time due to SoCal winter is a bit frustrating for people trying to visit. I don't think anyone was begging for the park to be 365 and it seems like they did better (more rides open) when they weren't.

I'm not Robb but I visited him quite often from 2001 and started riding Volcano and made sure to ride it on every visit after! I never remember any 'roughness' on it, and it always took my breath away with those launches. I also think it used to have way more down time (late 90's early '00's) and had been doing better up until last season when it was down the majority of the year. Sad to see it go. -

Ugh. I really liked that ride. It was unique, forceful, fun, and had one of the funniest “endings” for a big coaster! Grrr. Can’t they ship it to Michigan’s Adventure and run it on sheep power or something?!? -

We've now had Japan trips impacted by Typhoon's and Earthquakes...I shutter to think of what is next! Great TR, keep it coming! -

I love explaining to people that in Japan, you can get a really decent, tasty, cheap meal at a convenience store and not expect to get poisoned from it! Soooo different than here! -

We were excited for this ride mainly because it would drop the lines for other attractions at DisneySea but with all of these details KT is now going to make us stand in line because A) she loves the SEA storyline and B) she loves birds of prey and C) this ride has both! -
Maybe they had to pay the people a LOT of money to put up with Genting Fire Death Trap Highlands? Seriously, I've never been so scared or felt unsafe than at that property and I've spent several weeks all over China and India!!! I really wanted this to work though, as I felt that putting the Fox name on the property would force it to come up in quality and standards, but this just sounds like a bigger mess now than it already was.

So excited for this! -
I'm not Robb, but he's in the room next to me so maybe I can help! You're a Star Wars fan, so I understand wanting to go, but you need to really set your expectations. One - It could not open on time and you could miss it entirely. Two - It could open and you could not even get into the land and/or rides due to severe crowds. Three - You could get in, love it so much, but be miserable as it will be scary busy! Four - The rest of the park could be miserable due to the overflow crowds. For hotels, if you know me, I ALWAYS recommend staying onsite...except...this is the one resort that I don't think you necessarily have to! There are some hotels that are closer and easier to deal with than the official ones! We usually stay on Harbor Blvd. (See my map below) Do some research on TripAdvisor and find a hotel you like. That being said, if I had a ton of money, I would stay at Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel, but I worry they will be crazy priced for you. If your wife is a non coaster person and you want to keep her happy, choose Knott's over SFMM. It will keep your marriage alive. Also, it makes your trip MUCH easier as SFMM is almost 90 minutes away. If you're driving from SoCal up to the Bay Area and want beauty, then you have to take the coast road(s) (1 or 101). I-5 (5 Freeway) is a whole lot of terrible nothing. Hope this helps!
