Report: Myself & my party got to the park a little before ten o'clock, so I spent the half hour just soaking in the fact that this was my first opening day ever. When the ropes dropped, I immediately ran to Superman, thinking it would have the longest lines later in the day, and I was able to snag the very first ride of the season on Ultimate Flight, in the front row no less! Unfortunately by the time I got off Superman there was a huge line for Season Pass processing, in which I stood at most an hour for. Then I reunited with my mother and we rode Kingda Ka, which was a half-an-hour wait with only one side but 3 trains running. My mother's glasses also "disappeared" on the coaster since she didn't feel them fall out of her pocket. After that we all got our hands stamped and left the park for lunch at Burger King. After another trip to the Safari, we re-entered the park around 3. In the last 5 hours of the day, I was able to ride Nitro, Skull Mountain, Batman, Dark Knight, Bizarro, Mine Train, Tornado, Bucanneer, Tango, Houdini, and Rolling Thunder (only the right side was open), all with relatively minimal waiting times. Everything at the park for opening day went rather smoothly but I have a few complaints. One: I only saw ONE train running for El Toro the entire day (the Stride Train no less)! Two: The path from Golden kingdom to Plaza Del Carnival was boarded off; I don't know whether they were still getting rid of the Balin's stuff or they're pulling another Old Country on us again, but at least warn us! Otherwise, it seemed like (from what I've seen on past PTRs) a standard opening day when not everything was 100% yet. 5 out of 6 Flags. Ridelist: Nitro 3x Skull Mountain 2x Kingda Ka 1x Bizarro 1x Batman: The Ride 1x Superman: Ultimate Flight 1x Dark Knight 1x Rolling Thunder (right) 1x Runaway Mine Train 1x Tornado 1x Tango 1x Bucaneer 1x Houdini 1x

^Maybe, but I personally think that Tron: Legacy not being nominated for Best Visual Effects was a bigger snub. I can't imagine films like Toy Story 3, Inception, or Social Network winning Best Picture either. Don't get me wrong, they're all great films, but I think they're all too popular compared to the rest of the nominees. I hope to get a look at the rest of the Best Picture nominees before the actual awards to get a more precise opinion.

If all of these classic characters are making appearances, they'd better have a clear explanation during the show/ride as to why. Are Darth Vader and Boba Fett going to be chasing down a simple small ship filled with the guests for some reason? Are we just going to be caught in the crossfire of a Rebels/Empire fight again? Oh well, I suppose time will tell...

Because whoever makes you go through that hard work is a jerk. If you accidentally drink windex, will it make your pee blue? -
No Will you watch "Glee" after the big game today?

Most Intense B&M!
Zack44 replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Alpengeist is the most intense in my opinion, my head kept getting shaken during the ride as opposed to the other usually very smooth B&M's I've ridden before. -

What is your Favorite Ice Cream Flavor?...
Zack44 replied to Movieguy's topic in Random, Random, Random
My absolute favorite flavor is chocolate chip cookie dough. The stuff on its own is delicious, but mixed with vanilla ice cream and it's near-heaven. -
Yes Have you ever seen the original "Tron" before?

IAAPA 2010 Trade Show Orlando Coverage! Photo & Video Update
Zack44 replied to SharkTums's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Wow, I don't go on the website for 2 1/2 measly weeks and I missed all of this! I've only seen the first four video parts thusfar, and I'm already beyond impressed. Everything I've seen so far looks incredible, especially the "high-5" coaster and the Helli-Hoper. I seriously didn't expect that from such a small-looking ride, and Robb's reaction was just the icing on the cake. It looks like everyone there had a great time and I can't wait for next year's coverage. -

When is El Toro not El Toro?
Zack44 replied to milst1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Gotta admit, I'd rather see a picture of another coaster than a picture of that god-awful Stride Gum train going through a cycle on the parks' official website. And this isn't even the only time this kind of thing happened; when they we're advertising for Bizarro last year, they just had footage from the SFNE Bizarro instead. Fuh-hail! -
Seriously, "Little Flash"? Don't get me wrong, It's cirtainly a better name than "Mr. Six's Dancecoaster" and "Kids Coaster", but just putting "little" in front of a famous superhero's name just seems so...hasty. Besides, wouldn't it just just make more sense to name it and theme it after the actual Kid Flash from the comics? For those of you who don't know I mean this guy: Wally West, before he became the 3rd Flash. They'd have to re-paint the track yellow, but at least it would make more sense!

A Close Look at the Forgotten Intamin Standup
Zack44 replied to odene497's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for these awesome pictures! You know I wouldn't be surprised if some of the extra parts are sent to Great Adventure for backup pieces or something like that. It seems unlikely, but given the history this had with Great Adventure, I just think it would be fitting. -
I saw Halloween III earlier today on TV, and it's kind of underrated. It's definately a lot better than Halloween: Resurrection.

Sweet, now New York has the "misfortune" of having 2 Volares within a 50-mile radius. I say "misfortune" because I've never ridden one so far, and since I'm a sucker for new coasters and I haven't had time to go to Coney Island this year, chances are that I will go next year and ride this thing. I actually have confidence that it won't be as much of a metal deathtrap as everyone says, and if my hopes will be shattered, they'd might as well be shattered after I ride it than from reading some opinions off of a few roller coaster forums.

Yes (Sometimes I even get paid for it! ) Have you ever used a pen that didn't have black, blue, or red ink?
