  1. Nitro at Great Adventure on October 9.
  2. The new Guinness Book of World Records is out and there's a two-page spread dedicated to roller coasters! Oh, and they misspelled "Dodonpa".
  3. Why is it that whenever something cool gets announced, I'm already about 20 pages late? I just saw the video and all I can say is WOW! I never would've expected this kind of thing to happen to Magic Mountain (again*) in a million years. I love 3000+ miles away from SFMM and I want to get on the first plane to Los Angeles when these all open! I absolutely love the look of the "new" Superman coaster and I think it's gonna look so much better for the park's skyline than that crummy, dull grey. I also noticed that they just glanced over the former Mr. Six coaster, so they must still be thinking of a proper theme. If they're going all out with the two superhero themes, I think it would be interesting if they re-themed it to a more kid-friendly DC character, such as Krypto the Super-Dog. More importantly, I can't wait to see if Cedar Point will retaliate in 2012. EDIT: I'd like to apologize in advance if I unintentionally piss off Robb even more.
  4. Escape- Michael Jackson
  5. Pictures: They've already started advertising, put it looks kind of boring wihout a real logo. I think it's now a tradition for me to take a pic of the Kool-Aid fountain. Houdini is in fact open! My mother's in for a surprise... All that remains; the park feels so empty without it. Gee, I wonder why?! I swear, I did notice that guy's fingers until AFTER I took the picure. Kingda Ka's ramp gave a good view of the new track! Is it me, or is it like a dull "laser green"? Proof that the tigers are completely gone. The parking lot is starting to be ripped up. I wonder when they actually will paint that lift hill base... Hope construction starts soon! "Look, if the rest of you guys can't clean up then I'm out of here." Oh yeah, there's an audio tour now. You have no idea how many cars lined up for this guy. About to ram the car in front of us... *cue Apocolypse Now theme* Try not to be hypnotized... That gazelle on the right better start running. Of course the giraffes move the second I take the picture. This is how far the zoom goes on my camera. *sigh* I could just imagine "The Bare Necessities" from The Jungle Book playing in the background. Oh boy... You two haven't seen any new arrivals lately, have you? How about you? Any comment on the Facebook conspiricy? How about y- oh wait, nevermind. "Ha ha, I'm on the other si-ide. Na na na na na na." You know, this doesn't even crack the Top 5 worst things I've seen at the Safari. Gives me chills every time. Eh, might as well... Bonus points for appearing in the 1986 World's Fair. Nothing says kid-friendly educational center like realistic spiders and skeletons! Albino boa constrictor Skulls and bones not for Halloween? Preposterous! Those poor souls had to wait at least 15 minutes just for the train to load! Chiller and Musik Express: The real ghosts 'round these parts. A rarely photographed section of Batman The line for El Toro at midday. Bizarro's line at around the same time. Mandatory artsy shot. Yep, Ghoulmaster got a haircut. The Awakening/Dead Man's Party was as amazing as ever. Didn't intend for this pic to be this creepy. Thanks for reading!
  6. Report: I wanted to go to the park one last time before the season ended, so I decided to go with my mother to the first week of Fright Fest. We entered the park around opening time and not a lot of people were there at first so I thought that it was going to be a day without many lines. I managed to get on Superman, the Parachutes, and Kingda Ka without any waits and Rolling Thunder with only a 5-minute wait since only the left side was open. (By the way, I noticed the Red and White Scream Machine Trains were sitting inside of Rolling Thunder's turn ) My mother went off by herself to ride Houdini and joined me afterwards to ride Runaway Mine Train, the Log Flume, and Bizarro (which I rode twice), each with waits under ten minutes. So we left the park around 1:00 for lunch at McDonald's and I thought that the rest of the day was going to be smooth sailing. It was not... When we came back, we took a tour of the Safari and this time we actually stopped to visit the Exploration Station. It was a very impressive place, but I was honestly expecting it to be larger; oh well. We came back into the park at around 3:00 and by then, the park was PACKED. Almost every coaster had full queues, some even had extended lines, so I just decided to ride Fantasy Fling for the heck of it. After wasting half-an-hour in the Studio 28 Arcade, I was just barely able to catch a new show in the Showcase Theater called Ghoulmaster's Ghosts, a dance show complete with references to Jersey Shore and a Michael Jackson medley. About an a hour later, I got to catch the Awakening in front of the Big Wheel, and there was a HUGE crowd watching the show, so I thought by the time that the regular Dead Man's Party started, the lines would diminish. I left in the middle of Dead Man's Party only to be greeted by huge lines on all of the Movietown coasters, so I just rode the Dark Knight anyway, a forty minute wait. Fortunately, Great Adventure is doing a Facebook campaign during this years' Fright Fest, so I was able to score a free exit pass to get out of any line. After a quick dinner at Best of The West, we used that exit pass to get on the second-to-last row of El Toro (at night no less ). Oh, and the attendants at El Toro never looked at/took the exit pass (which, either way, was good for 4 people and it was just the two of us) so we managed to score a ride on Nitro around 8:00. After that, we had to leave since the lines were atrociously long by then and we were both tired. Overall, I wasn't expecting such long lines at the beginning of Fright Fest, but this trip was still awesome thanks to the shows and that exit pass. 5 out of 6 Flags. Ridelist: Bizarro 2x El Toro 1x Nitro 1x Kingda Ka 1x Superman: Ultimate Flight 1x Rolling Thunder (left) 1x Dark Knight 1x Runaway Mine Train 1x Parachutes 1x Fantasy Fling 1x Log Flume 1x Ghoulmaster's Ghosts 1x The Awakening/Dead Man's Party 1x I'll post the pictures in a little while...
  7. Really? Because I also went to the park that Saturday and Skull Mountain's line was almost full when I passed it. By the way, I'll post that PTR in a second...
  8. Screw homecoming, I'm going to Fright Fest!
  9. Oh god... What if Lucas decided to re-release "The Clone Wars" in 3D?!
  10. Can You Feel It- The Jacksons
  11. I'd imagine that a Dick Clark coaster would have a ride soundtrack sponsored by American Bandstand.
  12. Yes. Do you plan to see the movie "Tron: Legacy"?
  13. There are some new pictures of track pieces laying in the parking lot, some of which are already painted! http://coasterfusion.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?9492.200 (Just scroll down a bit)
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3u24NkJsqdE Trust me, it's worth a watch!
  15. What planet are you from? Great Adventure is seriously laking in the flats department (at least in comparison to coasters) and many of us are still hoping that we get a few new flats next year along with the GL coaster.
  16. ^No, they mention in the press release that it will be themed after Hal Jordan, the white one, the main Green Lantern in the comic books and the one that Ryan Reynolds is playing in the upcoming film.
  17. Wow, Green Lantern, like everyone didn't see that coming from a a mile awa- wait TUNNELS?! TWO TUNNELS?! Also, is it me, or does the green color of the track in the concept art/video remind anyone else of the green shade that Dorney Park used for Hydra: The Revenge? Anyway, I'm super excited for this and I won't be surprised if they have announcement posters all over the park by Fright Fest.
  18. Remember The Time- Michael Jackson
  19. I wish I remembered anything that happened to me on 9/11, alas, I was only 6.
  20. I'm also kind of surprised that Intimidator 305 got snubbed, but it is only its first year, and I predict it'll be in the top 10 of next year's list. However, I still can't believe that El Toro was beaten out again in the Top 10 Wood category; either I can just hope for next year, or I need to head out to Indiana and check out The Voyage for myself. Either way, kudos to all of the winners!
  21. ^^Well, I feel like a moron. Feel free to punch me in spirit now.
  22. Anybody want to take a guess where this new coaster will be in the park? I just looked at the current park map on the official website and it looks like there's plenty of room near Superman: Ultimate Flight. But I'm not very keen on this park, what do you guys think?
  23. My two favorites are Nitro's small drop out of the station and (by far) Hydra: The Revenge's Corkscrew/JoJo Roll.
  24. I love the regular kind the most, but I also like the Pretzel kind and don't mind eating the Peanut and Peanut Butter ones every once in a while. But the old Crispy ones were practically my drug 10 years ago, I absolutely loved them and they discontinued them in North America for no good reason.
  25. The concept art is pretty spectacular, but I'd prefer not to get my hopes up anytime soon since this is the first news we've heard of Dubailand in months. I have to admit, the sign/entrance strung across the wooden coaster (please, oh please to be an El Toro clone!) as well as the Tower of Light and the Kaleidoscope look very creative. The "Roller coaster road" thing is a little much, though. And if this park ever sees the light of day, I hope it doesn't get the world's first B&M Giga coaster since it's a prototype and it might be negatively affected by the heat.
