Probably about 50/50 I'd say. Last week of August, the schools may be back in. So it shouldn't be crazy busy. For what it's worth, I used to always go one of the September weekends between labour day and the halloween events, and always had a good time. It tends to be cool, but not cold, and the park isn't typically busy at all.

The "turnbuckle" hit is a somewhat common occurrence in hockey. Scary, but not intentional. Every once in awhile someone will get run that way, just that most times they can get up from it.

I think Halloweekends typically start in the third or 4th weekend in September. I've been to the park in September, and it's normally deserted. Just as long as you don't go labour day weekend you should be alright. Halloweekend saturday's can get really busy, though Halloweekend Sundays are normally deserted. Although the weather can start to get cool in September, so plan to dress warmly if need be.

^ Well 4 now. New York won tonight, so they're now 5 points up. Carolina is now 4 points ahead in 8th. It's definitely looking like a close race between New York, Carolina, Buffalo, and Toronto.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Depends on personal taste I guess, though personally I wouldn't want to stay in a $40 Sandusky hotel. -

It also depends on when you go. The earlier in the season you go, the cheaper the on-site hotels are. I always go the weekend before Memorial day, and the difference between Breakers Express and Breakers/Sandcastle is only like $20/person total. For that price difference it's a no-brainer. The difference between express and on-site though gets wider and wider as you get into the summer season. -

Hotel Breakers, Sandcastle Suites, Camper Village, and Lighthouse point are on-point and walkable. -
New Park Index and Firefox - Please read!

In Firefox I thought it loaded instantly, but then realized it was rendering line by line off screen. (as some others have noted). Probably 10-20 seconds for the full page to load. With IE the page loaded instantly without line by line rendering. -
He has a tendency to show his skill on one shift, and then vanish for an entire period. He's a washed up one dimensional player IMO. But, you gave up nothing for him, and you can use all the players you can get at this point I guess.

How much do you want to spend? There are pro's and con's of all the options you listed. If you want cheap, pick Express or a non-resort hotel. If you don't mind spending some money pick one of the on site hotels like Breakers or Sandcastle. If those 8 people are all adults, one Lighthouse point cabin would probably be too crowded. Though if a bunch of those 8 are kids, then you might be able to do it. The park will have a free coupon book that you can request via the website. There are admission discounts in there.

News: Park Proposed for Las Vegas Strip
Carnage replied to deathbydinn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Except Disneyland, Legoland and SeaWorld are like 5 or 6 hours away. I think the point of that quote was not to say, "people should go to those places when visiting Vegas", but rather "people with families should go to those places and not Vegas". -
That depends greatly on when you plan on going. If you're going in May, the price difference is minimal. But if you're going in peak season the price difference is pretty big. Staying on site is really nice, as it means being able to walk to your room. But if you're staying mid summer that could mean an extra hundred or more a night.

Suprising Soakings

That was the most depressing rapids ride ever. We got hit by more water in the flooded queue then on the ride. And since it was deathly hot and humid out, we wanted to get wet! I got surprised by the log flume at Valleyfair a few years back. It was a pretty gloomy rainy day, so there was no line for the flume. I jumped on it due to no line, figuring that you don't get that wet on flumes. I didn't realize though that there was a waterfall after coming out of the tunnel. Totally drenched me. -
Toronto has a tradition of helping goalies get their game back.

Hopefully it's not as much of a letdown as Spore was.

^ And to think I burned my 1st overall waiver pick on him in my fantasy league. I should have known to just let him be. He should have called it quits years ago. Now he's like the Brett Favre of hockey, except Favre could still play.

^ It's a tough call on how to properly re-build. You can come up with examples of teams that built championship teams vis sucking and good drafting. But you can also come up with examples of teams that suck, draft high, and yet still never get anywhere.

^ I knew when getting knocked out by Philly a few years ago was our last chance for quite awhile. Didn't really expect to be this long though. I'm starting to forget what playoff hockey feels like.

^ You can thank the instigator rule for the lack of that.

Weather at that time of the year is unpredictable. I've been going around that time every year for about the last 15 years. Last year was summer like warm, but that was by far the warmest weather I've ever had in May. Typically it will be cold in the mornings/evenings, and maybe get a little warm in the afternoon. I always plan for jackets and warm clothes. If it warms up you can head back to your hotel room, or stash your jackets in a locker.

High sticking drawing blood is a double minor penalty, not a major penalty. It has to be intentional to draw a major penalty. Looking at the replay, I'm guessing they called it a shot follow through. If you hit someone with the fallow through of a shot it's not a penalty.

8am, 10am, 1pm, 3pm. I have a coffee at those times give or take 30 minutes, every working day. I've never been a fan of Starbucks coffee. I find that it comes so scalding hot that it's got to sit for 20 minutes before you touch it.

It wouldn't be that much fun if it told you everything.

If you're just looking to play single player, Gears would be a good option. If you want to play multiplayer online, then get Reach. Gears multiplayer is awful. Horde mode is fun if you have friends, but online matchmaking is pretty bad. Or at least it was, I haven't attempted to play it in quite some time.

I believe that line is "at their wits end", not "that their wits end".
